IMO, the best perk for staying on site is the use of Extra Magic Hours.....each day, at least one park opens earlier or stays open later for the exclusive use of on-site resort guests. Convenient travel to each of the parks is also a plus.
BWV is great for numerous reasons, and you don't need the "
DVC" designation to get these:
1) Great proximity to both EPCOT and MGM -- can walk to each or take a relaxing, typically uncrowded, boat ride.
2) BW Community Hall -- Gamecube, a couple arcade games, ping pong, foosball, crafts, a few board games, etc., all completely free! The quiet pool is just outside. With kids at your kids' ages, you could easily lounge around the pool while they're inside getting their video game fix and the whole family is happy. Granted, not the way you'd want to spend your entire visit at WDW but great for a mid-day break. I think Community Hall is my DS 12's favorite 'feature' at BWV....it's just not a vacation for a 12 year old if there aren't video games included somewhere!
3) Very nice pool with slide
4) Entertainment around the Boardwalk in the evenings.....very nice to just sit back, relax, people watch, and then be entertained periodically by magicians, jugglers, etc. There are often opportunities for kids to get involved in these little shows which instantly increases their interest!
I think you'll love it! Have a great time!
