EWP group?

Helenabear, I will try to hunt down the thread this evening. I was looking for it earlier but stopped cause I figured you probably already found it. I think I know how to look for it. I believe it was between our April and November trips and much closer to the April one.

Heck, it is easy to say nice things to such wonderful friendly people as you all are. Just makes me want to be a better person _ yeah, me and Jack Nicholson. LOL

Rider, you have seen all the movies that you have not seen and I think those are the only ones I have seen. I enjoyed both of them. We like to rent videos, it is cheaper and since we have a big screen tv it is more comfortable than a movie house. Popcorn is much cheaper also!!! LOL We do not owe any taxes this year either for the first time in our lives. Social Security is not taxed, the IRA interest is not taxable and we are using money that we have already paid taxes on for the next few years. It is a very funny feeling. Now, if we were to win the lottery I would not mind paying taxes however. (grin)

My grandson and I were looking over the postcards you sent. He was very interested in seeing the twin towers. I feel so badly that I have not gotten your videos done as yet. I just seem to be running in circles. Had a rough time with the 4 year old this morning, he wanted to stay here and was throwing fits. The 10 year old spent the day here as they had the day off. They build in so many 'snow' days and it has only snowed once here so far so they gave them this Friday and next Monday off. As much as I love them I was glad to see them head for home and other parts. The older one is headed for a dance this evening. The last big event we were at was a wedding and he was dancing with 2 or more girls at a time, just as cool as can be. Since he is so vey shy it was quite amazing.

Jstmee, I had a feeling you would know ROTFLMAO. The 'V' is just very. LOL I do not know too many of these. I remember when I got my first computer feeling badly cause my name was always the last one on the send list. My last name begins with "W". Took me awhile to understand that it was alphabetical. Is that insecurity or not? (grin) Is a Witness talk one where you tell of a religious experience you have had? That would be very hard for me, I admire you. I used to give talks at the local schools but have not for a few years now. It is very hard to be out and about when you are so isolated by deafness. I smile and nod a lot and hope I am not promising something I do not want to do. LOL

Hope all of you had a great Valentine's Day. I am still working on ours.

SG/Linda

Just a quick note. I'm off to church. I lived my Cursillo.......which is a faith broadening movement....people helping people through faith......We have Ultreya's after that once a month and a person gives their experience either after the Cursillo or how it has effected their life. It's a little bit of a persons spiritual history and progress. I've cried a lot today, very emotional. I'm on my way now, even bought a new dress. Oh, by the way I'm Catholic.....I love all different faiths though and am not overboard about my "religion" I believe in spirituality in ones progress through life. I think that comes with life experience. bye all. Wendy

Just spent a couple of hours trying to find our birthday. I did a search using the engine at the bottom of the page. Tried going from one direction and then the other hunting for EWP info. It kept jumping back and forth between desending and asending. Then got the bright idea of searching on User name. I was looking for SG, Rider, Helenabear and Janet2K who are the people I remember from the first thread (please forgive me if I forgot someone, I am old and senile). I do not believe that all posts are there as I finally found me and there was only one thread that I supposed to have started and I know that is not true.

Wonder if Dan the Man or WM Cathy C. might be able to help as they have powers far beyond those of us mere mortals.

Jstmee, I am interested in your speech that you are making tonight. I went to Catholic mass for a couple of years many years ago but am totally unfamiliar with the terms you used. I am like you in that I believe there are many paths and what works for one will not for another. I am in favor of anything that preaches love and acceptance. It sounds as if you are a devout and thoughtful person (no surprise) and it is only to be expected that you are very emotional today. I know that some people in this town look askance at me because my daughter just got baptised at the age of 31 but I did not believe in forcing my children into any particular religion. I supported any church they were interested in attending and spoke often of my faith but always stressed that it was my opinion and they had to make up their own minds. I was very touched at the baptism because it was very evident that this was a heart felt and seriously considered decision. Last week they baptised two young ladies who immediately spent the rest of the service running up and down the aisles and talking loudly. I would prefer waiting until a certain age at least rather than just anyone who decides they want to do this. It is a serious and wonderful decision IMVVVVHO.

I am sorry I was not able to find our anniversary date. Would it not be great if it were the first week of June when 2 of our members are going to be at DW? What a great way to celebrate!

SG/Linda

Hi there everyone! I am sorry I haven't been in as much lately. We are swamped at work and I don't have so much time to stop in at all the hours that I used to. As you may have seen, last night I was up late because I couldn't sleep so I am not to talkative right now because I am tired :)

SG, I was just talking with Dan and he gave me some better ideas on how to search for it (I was stuck searching via end date only) and he says the search funciton will come back, he doesn't know when, but it should be back. I am still looking but as I have never even seen the thread it is a little hard for me to look. SG, you do know that you can sort by date, # of posts & Title of post. I am currently trying a bunch of different ways to see if I can find it. I will keep looking and I won't give up. One thing to correct you dear Linda, I was not a part of the original thread. I only joined when you moved it to the CB :D

I am Catholic as well (as I believe I have mentioned) and I am not too familiar with the terms you used Wendy. I know each parish, dioces and the like have all different styles and all so that may be why I am not to familiar with the terms you are using. I too though love learning about ALL religions and I think it is a very personal choice. I may have been baptized Catholic but I choose to be it now. I searched for what I found to be right in the way of spirituality even pondered God's existence, but that is what one should do with everything in life. You question your values and beliefs and you see what you come up with. That makes you "you" and makes you stronger in how you feel :D

I personally haven't seen Moulin Rouge only because I was thinking it would probably be something I wouldn't be interested in. But I have heard good reviews and I think I may have to try to rent it at some point to see it. I do like Nicole Kidman so that is always a bonus.

Well I have to share that my friend I told you about in Cancún had her baby yesterday. I just go the e-mail today. The baby measured around 6 pounds and 19 inches. A precious girl named Sara Isabel. If I weren't so tired, you would see how happy I am for her and her partner! I can't wait to see the pictures of my friend, Sara and the proud papa!

Well I should go. I am rather tired so I will see you all in the morning :D

Hi everyone! I haven't been able to stop by the last few days and catch up... I had a wonderful first date with a new man on Valentine's Day and my head is all in the clouds!! :) I have a long weekend of work coming up, three waitressing doubles over the holiday weekend..ughhh. I hope to stop in after work one night, sit back and have a nice cold Mixed beverage and catch up on the lives of my new friends.

I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day! Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

Hi there DMickey

Your life is in a pleasant turmoil these days. May it always be so. Sounds so very interesting to have a great first date on Valentine's day. That would be quite a strain on a first date to have to live up to the holiday IMHO.

As a former waitress I will remind you to make sure that you bring back lots of smaller bills so it is easy for someone to leave you the tip you so well deserve. Double shifts, oh my. Hope you have some time off after all that. It is hard being on your feet all day long and dealing with some people's unreasonable demands. I was the world's worst waitress and am a big tipper because of it. It is my way of thanking God that I was delivered from a life of being inept (in that area). LOL

Just come by any old time you wish. That is what we are here for. No pressure, no pain, just pleasant company and passion for Disney.

Your friends, including Slightly Goofy/Linda

Hi there everyone! I am hoping everyone is doing well this weekend!

Christina it was so good to see you in here again. I am glad the date went well. Did you get him a card (and if you did did you give it to him)? Whenever you get a free moment from your hectic work schedule, do come back and relax and sit and chat with us for a while. It sounds like you might need it!!!

SG, you gave some very good advice that I wish more servers would follow. Giving small bills is almost a must when paying by cash. You shouldn't expect a tip or a big one as a server, but giving small bills is a nice gesture for all since it saves both time from having to get change! Although one thing that really made one of my friends mad at lunch one day was when we had an awful server. He was uncaring, forgetful and not attentive at all. My friend paid in cash and her meal was around $13 and she gave $15. She did not say to him to keep the change, but he did anyway  He certainly did not do anything to deserve the 15% tip he wound up getting. She was mad! Don't think we are cheap but we do believe in tipping accordingly. 10% for good but quesitonable service, 15% for really good service and 20% on up for great service! I have tipped below 10% but the service wouldn't be considered good at all. Anyone else tip similarly? Oh and SG, I am sure that you were just a perfectly fine server. I can see you being such a friendly server that would automatically give you a much better tip. I swear if I come across an average server in service I will tip them up to 25% if they are personable and attentive to me. That just makes the eating experience that much more enjoyable!

Well even our friend, Dan, looked last night for the post for us after I went to sleep and he had no luck as well. He looked all over and couldn't find it either. Hopefully Rider will find her print out for us and tell us what she sees! I must admit I was so tired last night when I read SGs post that I didn't quite understand how she was searching. It seems we all searched the same way. My guess is the post disappeared somewhere and maybe lost or missing in the vast world of the internet.

Rider, I hope your tax day went well and you had happy results depending on how you like to get it. We finally just got the instruction book for our taxes (they were out for a long time) and maybe I will get him to do them on Wednesday and then tell me what the "damage" was. SG that is great you don't have to pay taxes anymore. There comes a time in your life when paying is just something you don't want to do.

Jstmee, please let us know how it went last night. I really enjoyed hearing about your views on "religion". I am interested to hear how it went for you last night. I can tell you are feeling better and that is absolutely wonderful! I am also glad to hear that it is warming up a little there. I couldn't imagine going from the weather you had in the south to what you have now. You are a brave woman :D

Angelina, I do hope all is well with you and look forward to seeing you soon!

I agree with SG, we ought to make the anniversay for the time we have at least two of our members at WDW. The rest of us can watch the parade together virtually and enjoy ourselves from home! I think that is a wonderful idea :D

Well I know I haven't been here so much but I am about to brave the malls in search of that obligatory brides maid dress for my sister's wedding next year. I can't pass up a sale just in case and esepcially since all the formal dresses dances for the high schools are done until prom I might get lucky. So I am being brave and heading out for President's Day sales. I will see you all later :D

Hi all, in a rush but had to tell you that I heard from WM Cathy C and she says that she says that she has the date of our first thread as July 1st. I am not too sure how long the other thread ran. I remember having my last birthday celebration in the suite though. It might be about right but if everyone else wants to celebrate the first week of June it would be just great with me. I am so envious (and happy) for the two lucky ducks who will get to be at Disney then. It almost makes me want to break the budget and go too.

BTW, I will have to pay taxes again in a few years when we have to start dipping into our retirment account. Did not want you to think that we were poverty struck around here. It is just a nice break. We still have property taxes and excise taxes which amount to a hefty sum, not as bad as those who live on the coasts though.

Got to run! Will check in this evening.

Slightly Goofy

SG that is wonderful that Cathy looked for us. She must have more special powers than Dan (shh, don't tell him I said that). I must be blind since passed over it more than once :D I think I will have to thank her as well. By the way, when is your birthday anyway so we don't miss it. You don't happen to have it listed on your profile so I have to come right out and ask you! I hope you enjoy your small break in paying taxes. Soemtimes it is nice to have a break but then again any money that you have to pay you know you can say you had it in your own account making interest the the gov't effectively gets to take if you aren't paying taxes back to them. We can't decide which we like better but I think in the end, we'd rather break even at this time.

I think we ought to do a Disney style celebration for our anniversary here. You know start early and end late ;) I think it would be great to start celebrating at the first of June while two of our very own will be down there. SG, I too am a little envious of them, but we will get there sometime!

Well back to the joys of cleaning :D

Oops, Helenabear. I re read Cathy C's email and she said that the date for the thread was July of 2001, not the first.

I am thinking that the orginal group met on the Attractions forum. I think someone else started the thread and I saw the EWP mentioned and joined in. I believe it went on for a couple of weeks until we were booted over here. If I check the first page of this thread it would show when we started here. I believe that we exchanged some emails between us before I figured out that we could safely meet over here and thwart the 'powers'. (giggle) That is me, fight the establishment!!!!

This is becoming a crusade for me to find the other thread. I may have some time Monday as there is no school that day.

My birthday is July 25th. I am a Leo. Bossy, controlling and overbearing from what I have been told AND these are people who do NOT know my birthday!!! LOL I think Janet2K's birthday was about the same time.

I have an idea for an anniversary celebration but will have to work on it a bit before I devulge the details. Give me a bit of time to think (smell the smoke?).

SG/Linda

Hi EWP friends!!
After hearing from Linda and Elaine, I just had to stop by and read a bit about what is going on in your lives!
Nice to meet you DMickey, welcome to the group, even though I am the eccentric step-cousin that only breezes in to say hello and breezes out again! ;)

This thread originally started on the Resort board when I was moderating it. When friendships began to form, I decided to move it on over to this new home. So while the first thread here was July 17/01, the original thread probably started much earlier but without knowing the name, I wouldn't be able to find it.

I hope everyone is well, happy and healthy. I will stop by again when I have more time!
Take care!
Cathy

I am watching "Pearl Harbor" which is about 3 hours long and have spent the past 2+ hours searching the 'Attractions" board as that is where I thought this thread started. Lucky for me I have a strange sense of humor as I find this hilarious. Thank you Cathy C. for setting me straight. You are a jewel among women. (no LOL)

I think I will head to bed so I don't fall asleep during the sermon. While I am sure that I am so perfect that I personally do not need to be preached to there might be some information that a friend might need. (told you I was Goofy)

Good night all, SG/Linda

What jewels Cathy & Dan are... boy are we lucky to have them! I cannot say how happy I am to be able to see the post from the beginning!

SG, I hope you get the sleep you need. You are such a dedicated member of this group and we are so happy to have you as the founder of *this* portion of the group. I am blessed with truly amazing friends right now :D

Wow, I have been reading the original thread and it was wonderful to read. I think if I can ever meet Dan in person I will give him a big hug just for finding that in itself. I must say I loved reading through all you had to say to each other. The spirit there seems to have carried over quite well to here. Yes it is late but I really couldn't "put the thread down" as it was so beautiful to read. Really it was! I learned a little more about each of you as well :D

SG, you are one beautiful person! Truly you are one of the most beautiful people I have ever known {{{HUGS}}}

Wow I could say that about each one of you. Really you guys have a very special place in my heart and I always hope that someday we will meet in person. I love the way we talk about anything and everything and are there for each other :D Really each and every one of you are wonderful.

As I said before, I am blessed to have friends like you!

I told you that Dan is the 'man". TY TY TY TY TY Dan. I appreciate this soooooo very much. It will free up my life for other persuits such as bathing and sleeping. My friends and neighbors will appreciate it so very much.

Helenabear, you had better give Dan a very big hug as he is a very big man in all ways. You will have to strain your neck to see him. I only got to talk to him for a few minutes at the Indy meet and was much impressed with his presence. Very genuine also. I watched him tour the room making everyone feel so welcome. It is a special gift.

I don't agree with your assessment of myself. I try, in my limited way, but I have been overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity of members of this forum. I feel so guilty as Rider has sent so many surprises my way and I still have not made the video for her.

We are headed for second service in a bit. It is lucky that the church has 3 services so we can adjust.

I read several of the pages and am looking forward to reading them all when we return.

What a wonderful Christmas present, Dan. You are the greatest and I am sure that Helenabear did not mean to disparage you in her earlier message. Being the intelligent woman that she is I think she was challenging you to do what she KNEW you could do. (grin) I do truly hope it was not a time consuming chore though.

Steak dinner with pie for DH. He is as happy as he can be.

SG/Linda

Welcome DMickey, congratulations on being in the clouds from that first date.

About the tipping, I am a VERY big tipper, I have waitressed and it's the hardest job I've ever had to do. My base tip is 20%, especially if it's a place that I frequent because that way I think I'll continue to have good service. I know when I waitressed I appreciated the continued support from the customers and I definately remembered who tipped and who didn't. I never treated them any differently, but it sure helped to know that a big tip was in store. AND I will tip the new waitperson extremely well even if they mess up...it helps boost there morale.

After the doubles you have had DMickey, I'm sure you could use a nice cold beverage and a jacuzzi and perhaps a massage from Don Juan our personal suite masseuse.

Dan the Man-----TY TY TY, I only came on board when this came to the new board, wow ya'll have been around a while.

Cathy Canada-----Thanks for the help

SG and Helenabear, now you can sleep soundly Dan has come to your rescue.

Angelina, do you have children home from school for break? I have all four on break this week.

IASW Rider, what date do you get married, first weekend of June???? My brother gets married in Lackawanna, PA, near Philadelphia, it's a long trip for us just for the weekend. June 6----so no WDW for us.

Well everyone is home and they are ALL hungry!!!!! Gotta go cook. Wendy

Wendy all I can say is BEAUTIFUL. Thank you for sharing that with us... we got a great glimpse of your life and what makes you who you are. {{{HUGS}}} Thanks for sharing.

Hi there everyone! I hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend.

SG, dear, I won't embarrass you here with all my kind thoughts about you, but know that you are appreciated by each and every one of us for what you give this group. {{{HUGS}}} to you and I am so glad to call you a friend.

A part of me would really look forward to the day when I could meet Mr. Murphy himself. I only say a part of me because I really am not fond of my picture being taken but that camera of his never seems to be away from his hand ;) I am aware that Dan is about a foot taller than myself (maybe more, I can't remember his height off the top of my head) and I am sure that will make like interesting. I just hope if I get the chance to talk to him face to face ever we can sit so I have a chance to look at his eyes instead of his chest :D You are very right, SG, he is a very genuine man. That is a quality so many people today are lacking. I could ramble on about how people here are and how much that means to me but then I would never be done typing :D

Well I finally got my computer back after it being hijacked by my dear darling husband. He went through all the trouble to make this amazing computer and he forgot to hook up his floppy drive so he had to borrow my computer  I will just have to work on a way to get internet hook up on my OLD OLD computer that I just brought over and hooked up today. At least I can come here and say hi like I wanted to earlier.

I did something amazing yesterday. I got my hair cut. It is very short for me. It is about halfway down the back (what I consider just below the "bra" line). I can't believe how short it feels and they only cut about 6" off. Luis is fine with it, but it is an adjustment for me.
Well I need to run. I hope to see you all soon!

Dearest, sweet Wendy. I am so humbled by your sharing your life's story and revelations with us. I knew you were special but now I know even more. I believe that God talks to us every single day but we sometimes do not notice. Roses, what a wonderful way to speak. I will have to look up Cursillo and educate myself on that topic. You have come such a far way and understand who you are and where you are going. I will never again worry about your screen name. I promise. I truly believe that we learn more from our mistakes than we do from our triumphs and anyone who has never strayed has done nothing with their life. I am so glad that we are lucky enough to know you and your story.

Helenabear, unless you are much taller than I think you are Mr. Dan is muuuuuuch taller than you are. I am a fairly tall and very large woman and when he hugged me goodbye I felt like a midget. He is very tall. I had a bad experience at the meet and fond memories of Dan and Native Txn(?) remind me that the world is a great place. Please don't be afraid of his camera. I did not throw up when I saw my pictures posted and I am very camera shy. Have a feeling that his kindness extends to not posting unflattering pictues also. What got into you to persuade you to cut some of your hair off? Bet it looks nice though. Must be nice to have a spare computer around. I am giving my old one to my boys to play with. May 11th is when my niece is to be married in Columbus. I will be staying at my sister's home in Blacklick. Want to make plans for a get together?

I sort of tip bigger at the cheaper places than the expensive ones because I figure that when it is based on the amount of the check the wait staff earns a very good wage at the more expensive places and the at the cheaper places they need the money a bit more. Just my opinion. I even tip at the Chinese Buffet place where no one else does. I figure that the poor girl that cleans the tables must not get paid much and a couple of dollars might make a difference. I once tipped a $100 on a $20 tab. It was Christmas Eve and we were eating out and got to talking to the waitress and found out that she had been laid off from where my DH worked. It was the only Christmas present that we gave to each other that we remember from that year. Went to a very fancy restaurant in Philly with my DH and nephew. Their coffee was refilled often and I never got my iced tea glass refilled once even though I asked. I pay the bills and leave the tips and I hope I made a point. I always observe if the staff is being overworked and do not deduct for what is beyond their control but if they are standing around talking and ignoring me it is another story. I am not too picky. I seem to get a lot of waitresses who end up sitting down and visiting with us when we eat out though. Most of the time it is enjoyable.

I have just about finished setting up the Black Beauty and I am feeling better than I have been AND Dalton is over being sick PLUS now that the missing thread has been found by Mr. Dan and with the help of our wonderful Cathy C. I should have more time to be around to bug you all.

Blessings on all your little pointed heads (grin) SG/Linda
