EWP group?

You know what happens when you try to DIS the way I do? You mess up and your post doesn't go through when you thought it did :D I am a mutlitasker DISer. I have multiple windows opened up at the same time and when I thought I posted here yesterday I closed the window... I guess I did it too early and didn't get it posted. So here I am today :D

SG, I wanted to invite you to church with me today. Our chior director brought out his pink electric guitar and we sang a good old religious song, rock style :D Then our closing song was Siyahamba (a song in Zulu). So my DH was on the Congas today drumming along while we sang without any other intstruments playing. It was a very fun day at church for music!

Angelina, it sounds like you are having so much fun. Maybe I will have to join you next year for it. Your parade sounds so neat to see!!! I hope you are having fun with everything and that it also gets a little warmer for the last part of Marti Gras!

Rider, I got your postcards!!! Thank you so much for them. I am dying to come visit you and my brother of course but until Luis can get some vacation time I am a little stuck here. I would go out solo but I really don't want to do it without him since he wants to make the same trip as well. It was really neat to be able to see where everything in NJ is and how close/far it all is from you! I also hope that the hair braiding works for you. It really can do nice things for your hair.

Well I had a busy day yesterday and I need to get some things done today so I can't stay for long. I will check back in later tonight! I hope you all are doing well!

Hi, Helenabear. Yes, we are having a wonderful time. We did not go to the parade Friday night, we stayed home and watched the Olympics, instead. Last night, we went to my BIL's parade (his organization's first parade, third ball) and then stayed for the ball afterward. it was so much fun! The music was really good, not fuddy duddy like some of the older organizations. I like big band and jazz, though. At some of the larger balls there may be 5 or 6 different bands going on all over the civic center, but then, it's usually so crowded it takes forever go get something to eat and then you have to stand in line at the bar. The food is usually the standard meatballs, coctail sausages and other crudite, but last night the food was great. They had a whole roast pig (he had on sunglasses,) carved ham and steamship round of beef, fruit and cheese, cheese straws and lots of other neat things. (can you tell i'm hungry?) We stopped for Krispy Kreme donuts at 2 o'clock this morning on the way to pick up the kids. That's kind of a tradition--if the light's on after the ball, we stop. So, today, we're just taking it easy, cleaning up a little, and the kids are playing outside. We tried to sleep in a little, but the little monsters ransacked the house, finished the donuts, and started in on a bag of chips and cheese, so I decided to get up and save what I could of the house before they completely destroyed it.

I'm going to fix some lunch for everyone and play a game with my daughter. I'll check back later.

Angelina

I just posted a big long message and I think it disappeared. I will check back later and see if it got found. I think I am going to have to start doing my messages in Outlook and then cutting and pasting in here. I miss the way things used to be! (sob)

SG, I am so sorry your post didn't show up. I have now started copying long posts before I get to submitting them just in case. We look forward to hearing all you have to say. See you soon!

It has taken helenabear to reel me back in by her private message, soooo here I am it will be impossible to catch up on everyones news so I'll just keep coming back and get clued in as I go. My DH has been travelling as usually but for some reason it has hit me harder in the past few months. I see him about a day and a half on weekends then he's gone. With the older boys being 13 it seems like they are getting harder to handle. Also, "stupid" me went off my anti-depressant medicine ----ha ha, thought I was doing fine, and low and behold "HUGE" depression hit. I'm back on my meds and should be coming out of it shortly. I've been busy with church and girl scouts and I need to get someone else to take over the girlscouts too big of a commitment for me. I like to help out, but running it is a different story, it's amazing how parents get angry when things don't go their way, (I don't even get paid, lol).

We had a ceremony in church this evening and my DH already left for his job down state and I cried the entire time. Oh well, this to shall pass.

I love the Olympics though, that's why I came online tonight to see how the winnings are. I hate the tape delay stuff, I wish they would just have a channel that showed the events as they occurred.

Bye for now, the illuminations cruise sounds wonderful, I went on it with another family from this board in September. A lot of fun.

I would also love a smoothy from that place. Glad to be back big {{{{{HUGS}}}} to all. Wendy

Dear Wendy

I am so glad to see you in here. I have been wondering how you were doing. Please allow me to give you a big warm hug. I have suffered from depression pretty much my whole life and knowing that I had a 'disease' has made it so much easier. It is NOT a character failing but a very real medical condition and what makes it so very hard is that the very nature of the disease makes it difficult for us to take care of ourselves and take the medication that we need to get through. Please take care of yourself and find someone to talk to near you who can help you through the bad times.

How has your health been? What does your doctor say about how you are doing? With all you have been going through anyone would feel down and to have your DH gone so much and with you having all the responsiblity of taking care of hearth and home it is more than any mere mortal could be expected to handle. Just pick out the very most important things and let the little stuff slide. Make time each day to do something for yourself so that you can do for the others in your life with a lighter heart. I bet your kids would be willing to help out if you let them know that you need it and are not too particular about the job they do.

I know about the parents who want you to do everything for their kids and criticize you for how you do it. That is why I finally quit 4-H. I missed the kids but not the grownups. I actually had some who would drop off younger siblings before they went s hopping for me to care for. One lady used to send her son over to my house after school and I had never even met her. She is now my DD's mother in law. (sigh)

I hope you enjoy the cruise. Anything special I can have the fellows fix for you?

SG/Linda

Hi Ladies!

How are you all doing? So great to pop into the Suite and catch up on all of your news!

WOW - your Mardi Gras festivities sound like so much fun, Angelina! Thanks so much for all of the wonderful descriptions of the parades and themes and costumes and balls! They sound wonderful! I hope that you had someone take lots of pictures of you and your family all dressed up! It sounds like you've all been keeping busy, too! I can't believe that it was in the 30's, down there - I didn't realize that it ever got that cold, there! Well, today is in the 30's and extremely windy, here in NJ (with the wind chill, it feels like the 20's), although it was in the 50's and sunny and mild, yesterday!

Thanks for the hair advice, Helenabear! Maybe I will try braiding my hair, tonight. I just can't believe how tangled it is in the morning, when I come out of the shower, even if I brush it beforehand! I really worry when I see those clumps of hair in my brush. UGH. Anyway, it's so interesting that you mentioned that your choir sang "Siyahamba" - we sang that in high school chorus! As soon as I read that, the tune and the words came back to me! That is so neat! And it's so neat that Luis plays the drums along with your choir's singing, too!

Welcome back, Jstmee! Great to "see" you! And so glad to hear that you are feeling better! It's also good that you recognized that running Girl Scouts was too much for you and stepped back from it - it's better than putting all the pressure on yourself to continue, and then becoming more stressed about it. I'm sure that you will still enjoy being involved, too! I'm also enjoying watching the Olympics! I really liked the opening ceremonies - I watched them when they first aired.....then stayed up most of the night watching the "replay" of them that followed the late night shows on NBC!

Hi SG! How are you doing? How are things going with your new computer? What's been new out there?

Everything is fine, here! I spent Friday night (and as I said, I mean ALL of Friday night - I don't even want to tell you what time I finally went to sleep!) watching the Olympics opening ceremonies. Then we had the calligrapher come over on Saturday and take away all of our wedding invitations to address, assemble, and stamp. It's really nice - she is even going to buy the stamps for us at the post office, have the invitations weighed, and put everything together for us! So we felt very accomplished after taking care of that. Had a restful evening, staying in and watching DVD's on Saturday night. Then yesterday we had brunch with some of Frank's friends from high school and college and their families, which was nice. Why do the weekends have to fly by so quickly????? :(

Anyway, hope that all is well with all of you! Take care and talk to you soon! :)

Hi there everyone!!! I am so glad we could all get together again :D

Angelina, it sounds like your festivities are so much fun! I thank you for shaing them all with us. I can amost picture everything and I cannot think of a better way to end an evening than to stop at a Krispy Kreme for a yummy doughnut!!! I hope you were able to relax this weekend and catch up on any needed sleep!

Jstmee, I am glad my PM nudged you back in here. I was just getting concerned about you and I was hoping you'd pop in so we could see how you were doing. Don't you forget that when it all seems down, we are all here for you. Whether you think it is trivial or not we are here to listen and give a big shoulder to cry on if needed. Or if you want to scream, once again we are here to listen and most importantly to give out big {{{HUGS}}} I hope your health is continuing to be good. I have a place in my heart for all my buddies here and I always like to hear that things are going forward and not back. I agree, it sounds smart not to have to deal with leading the Girl Scouts. Parents can be so cruel sometimes... and sometimes I wonder how some of them can produce good kids for the most part.

SG, how is the transfering of files going? I hope it is going with out a hitch! I certainly don't blame you for not wanting to do the 4H anymore... it is just too bad we can't always have groups without the bad parents ;)

Rider, another thing to try on your hair is to get a good leave in conditioner or detangler. I admit I use both leave in conditioner and the ones I rinse out daily. All a part of how to keep my hair long AND healthy looking :D It sounds like you found yourself a good calligrapher! I do hope your weekend next week will seem longer!

I am sorry all if I am not quite so talkative. I am not sick SG, so don't worry, but a few friends of mine have been hurt and are hurting right now. And while they are hurting I really can't bring myself to being quite so "chirpy" as I normally am. I do have my up moments with how I feel but there is still that place in my heart held for all of my friends that can't quite bring me to be myself. Don't worry I am not sad, only sad for them and I am doing all I can to make them feel much better. I must get back to things! I will see you all later :D

Angelina, sounds like cold weather for you southern bells down there. We got a "dusting" of snow about 4-5 inches, so I snow blowed the drive way and my neighbor two doors down is at the hospital, just had baby number 2, so I went down and snow blowed their driveway as well. It's a nice feeling knowing you helped someone out, I'm not going to divulge who did it either. heee heee. It's a beautiful sunny day here, about 0 degrees and the windchill must be at least -20F.

SG thank you for the kind words, I certainly needed them.

Rider, I haven't stepped aside yet from the Girl Scouts, I did tell the previous leader that I didn't want to lead the troop though. We'll see.

Helenabear, you've brought me back to "life" aka "The Board", thank you.

Now here's a new dilemma. My three DS's won a Hot Shot competition. Kenny tied for 1st place, Mark got 3rd place, and Matthew got 3rd place for his age group. So, now they go to regionals (Kenny won regionals last year and got 3rd in states)..............here's the problem, my daughters girl scout ski badge day is the same day as the regionals. Dad is taking the day off to take the boys, but the boys don't want dad, 'cause as they say he's on his cell phone the entire time. They want mom to come.

Aaaargh, skiing is a passion of mine and I have made that commitment, but I would truly love to see the boys, it's my little one's first competition of this calibur - he's nine. If it were just the twins, I wouldn't feel so bad, the tend to win at a lot of competitions so I'd forego one.

Oh well, I know I'll go skiing, but I just needed to vent a little. I feel bad about missing the little one.

Aaaaah, it's so nice to be back, I think a little relaxing in the jacuzzi will be nice.

Wendy

Helenabear - you're a very good friend to your friends! And you sound pretty "chirpy" to me! It's nice that you're there for your friends and that you are taking time to support them. I hope that everything is OK.

Jstmee - I can understand your dilemma - it must be very difficult to have to make a choice, on the day when your children are being honored (that's what you get for having such talented children - so many honors on one day!). I guess there's no way that you would be able to attend a little of each event? Or are they at exactly the same time and too far away from one another? Maybe you and your DH can have some sort of special celebration for all of your children, that night, to celebrate all of their successes! And maybe you can each take videotapes so that the half of your family that wasn't able to attend each event could feel like they were there, too? I'm sure that you are making the best decision and that it will all work out well!

Guess I am lucky to be here in Indiana where we are having a wonderful winter. Christmas Eve it just started a sparkly snow shower as we were headed for the church. It made a special evening that much more special. We did have one measureable snowfall but it went away quickly. We have had record temps in the 60's and while it has cooled back down the last couple of days it is still sunny and dry. I wish you all could be so lucky.

Angelina, I have been noticing the Gulf Coast commercials a lot lately. Can't get the town of Fairhope out of my mind. I put the site in my favorites so I could consider it a bit more. I have loads of dreams and lucky for me I am not one of those who bemoans what I cannot have but does enjoy what I do have.

One of the things I have is a sleepy boy on my couch again. I tried to tell his parents that he needed to come here today again but DD does not like to 'put me out'. When I went to pick him up at preschool they told me that he had been asleep almost the whole time. He asked if he could come home with me so I called the school and cancelled (one of the perks of not getting paid). I am getting worried about him. He should be responding better.

Rider, you are one smart cookie. What a great idea to video tape the competition. That would be a way to force Dad off the cell phone also. I read once that God meant for a family to have a man and a woman as the parents cause too much mom would be bad and too much dad would be bad. It is a thought. My DH barely knows the kids names. He thinks he pulled off a slick one but I think he missed out on an awful lot of good things. He worked 2nd shift cause he did not want to be home when the kids were. When they were home together it was a nightmare for me. Yes, it is a wonderful feeling to do something for someone else. I truly believe it makes you feel better than it makes them fell sometimes. You are not only a good friend but a great neighbor. I will be rooting for you this weekend and hope that you and your future in laws have a wonderful visit.

Helenabear, you can eat A donut? Wow, I am impressed. I do not buy donuts or potato chips cause they keep calling out to me and I would eat the whole package of either. I can see Luis up there doing the Bob a Loo thing with a big old grin on his face. You know good looking men are fine but looks fade but a man who can make music and make you laugh is a jewel beyond measure.

Jstmee, please do not feel that you have to have some fabulous story to tell when you come in here. We are the barefoot, wipe our mouths with the back of our hands, laugh right out loud type of people and just plain enjoy knowing what you are up to. Good, bad, indifferent makes no never mind. If you are sad, just come in here and pour it out and relieve some of the stress here where it can do little or no damage. Sometimes a good loud scream can make a person feel like going on for another day or two. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Boy, that felt good. I think I heard a brick on the chimney fall though.

Hope this post goes through. Why is it that when you write a line or two of inanity it always posts just fine but when you write a literate, intelligent and interesting post it gets lost? I believe it is because professional writers scan the net and wipe out the competition. If this post goes through it means that I have been less intelligent than I would like to be. (great big old silly grin)

I just stumbled into this thread and found it very intersting. I have only seen the EWP from the Monorail leaving the MK....Would you be up for another groupie?? I am a 23 year old student graduating this year with a Hospitality Degree... I have been going to WDW since I was a kid but the last three years I have managed at least two or three trips a year (figure that out with a part time job and full time college tution??? Can we say refunds!!!) My next trip is planned for March 18th.....only five weeks!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome, DMickey28!!!! We are always happy to have more Groupies, here! Come join us! Perhaps our founding member, Slightly Goofy, will give you a tour of our "Suite" and tell you about its history and the "staff" that we have "working" here for us! Thanks for joining us! You're so lucky that you're able to visit WDW so often! And definitely make it a point to see the EWP from one of the MK resorts, when you are there in March, if you have a chance! It's really neat! :)

Thanks again for your kind words, SG!

Hope that you're all having a nice afternoon! :)

Welcome, DMickey28, prop up your feet and enjoy a nice, cool drink. You really must make it a point to watch the EWP during your next trip. It is a lot of fun, especially when you're holding a pina colada or an equally exotic drink as you sit on the dock at the Poly. Nothing quite like it.

Jstme, stick your head in the door to say "Hi"from time to time, just to let us know you're doing o.k. We all get down in the dumps occasionally, and it helps to have friends to listen. That's why we're all here.

SG, of course you have to eat the whole box--they're no good if you let them cool! NOTHING is better than a box of hot, squishy KK's at 2:00 in the a.m. unless it's a box of hot, squishy kk's on Sunday morning after mass.... LOL

It was 38* Saturday night, 68* yesterday, and somewhere in the upper 40's and windy today. The sun is shining, though, but we didn't go downtown for the parade this morning. Tomorrow will be one parade after another until well after dark. I doubt we'll go downtown, though. It's so crowded on Fat Tuesday. We'll probably just take it easy.

Yes, SG, you really must come down and visit Fairhope--there are some charming B&B's, or the Grand Hotel. The Fairhope Arts and Crafts show is coming up in March and lasts for 3 days. I don't know what commercials are running where you live, but they're running Tricentennial commercials here, complete with "a Southern Gentleman" in a linen suit and panama hat, a la Rhett Butler, with the accent to match. He's even from Mobile, but the accent is a little hard for us to take. NOBODY talks like that, except bad actors with even worse accents! Oh, well.

L'il Precious is pitching a royal fit, she wouldn't take a nap earlier, and she just threw a video at ds's head. Gotta run.

Angelina

Hi everyone! It seems we have been very busy here this afternoon, so I hope I can get everything you all said :D

First of all :bounce: :bounce: WELCOME DMickey28!!! :bounce: :bounce:! Glad to see you here as well! We, as you can see, are an open welcoming group. While we have had a few men stop in (Dan Murphey & my DH, coqui) most of the time it is us women. We have some very nice men helping us and taking care of our every need. They are a wonderful group and they help us relax after long days or rough patches! So kick back, relax and enjoy. No formal attire is ever require (if it were, I certainly am in trouble with my unmatching work out clothes :D)

Jstmee, we hope to see you more often around here! We enjoy all you have to add and if you want, just say hi to us and go off and get a fabulous massage that Jean Paul (on loan from the Grand Floridian Spa) gives and then enjoy our Mickey shaped hot tub! And remember, if you ever go away I will always be here to PM and help bring you back to us here :D I wish I could help with your dilemma, but that would be tough. I am for RIder's idea of video taping their competition and then making a big to do about it when you all are home. As for the cell phone, if DH is video taping he certainly can't be talking on the phone ;)

SG, yes I can eat a doughnut... not easily though as I do want to eat more and more and more. But I do have a funny thing about me. It isn't what I eat that packs on bad fat, it is if I work out or not (lifting in my case is my joy as I have said before). I do agree that looks aren't everything. That is why I chose my DH. Okay yes he is good to look at now but he is great for many many other reasons as well! Just like Cleo and Gwen are cute, but they bring so much more joy to my life :D

Rider, thank you for your kind thoughts :o When my friends are hurting, I hurt too. Right now I am nervous for my friend in Mexico who is due this week. I got 27 e-mails today while I was at work and I was hoping one was from her since I e-mailed her two days ago, but alas nothing from her yet :(

Angelina, the more you talk about your hometown the more I want to go visit. It sounds like a wonderful place to live!!! And if 38 degrees is cold, SIGN ME UP :D Good luck with the kids... sounds like they need to go down for a nap now!

Well all I should get a few things done (like my lifting) before I eat dinner. Luis' co workers had Wendy's for lunch and that is what he wants for dinner... yum grease ;)

Well, I don't know about being THE founding member. As I recall Helenabear, Rider and Janet2K were right here at the beginning. I am the oldest member at 53 but since I am an immature 53 everyone is nice enough to put up with me. LOL We were the ones who got kicked out of the one forum for being 'off subject'. Ever notice in old Disney movies when the people get poor they always have to move from small city apartment to a huge old mansion complete with chandeliers and antique furniture in a picturesque small town? Sort of what happened to us, DMickey 28. We left the simple All Star room in the Attractions forum and have ended up here in our own private suite overlooking the lagoon with views of the EWP and evening fireworks. There is a large meeting room complete with fireplace and media center, encircled with a vast veranda that overlooks all of the different areas. I do believe that they have the mechanism that turns the restaurant at the Land installed for your first evening with us. We have a full staff of gentlemen who cater to our every whim. Don Juan, Bo Dacious and a few others whose names escape me at the minute. There are hot tubs and jacuzzis on each side of the verandas so we can accomodate anyone wish to be with company or be private. Just tell the guys your food and drink requirements and they will be provided. We often take off to go to the parks on adventures since we are all frequent visitors as you are. I am the only member who has NEVER seen the EWP. I made a valient attempt on our last trip in November but it was not to be. Even added extra days to the trip to try, try again and did not make it. It is getting to be a mission now.

I noted your frugal ways and the use of the term 'refunds'. I was a coupon queen for over 20 years and at one point had actually worked my way up to getting all our groceries etc. free AND did it legally!!! I was not aware that there were many refunds out there to be gotten anymore. Not even many coupons but maybe you were speaking of some other kind of refunds. WTG~!!! though as freedom from debt is true freedom IMHO.

Looking forward to getting to know you and finding out your frugal Disney ways. I would rather go to Disney for more days than stay at the fancy places myself. We are a retired couple so making money stretch is more than a hobby nowadays but then making it stretch is why we are able to be retired in the first place. Where are you from, where do you go to school, what is your major, hobbies, and most important of all, how do you do your hair? (grin)

Lil Precious huh? I call my youngest "Stinky Butt" and the oldest "Evil Rugrat". You are much sweeter than I am. Do you get a lot of company when you have these doings? We have small doings and we get loads of company. Hot donuts, ummmmmmm. I get sick when I eat sweets (not diabetes) so it has to be really something to get me interested. Hot donuts would do it. A church here used to have fresh donuts on Heritage Days and I looked forward to them every year but they quit. Probably for the best.

Rider, you are welcome and it is always easy to say something nice to you. I will leave it to you to add to my description of the suite. I think you and Helenabear were the ones who hired most of the staff so you would be able to introduce them better than I.

I am off to bake some cookies. Each boy has asked for 10 to give out to the people they love. Hope I get one! (grin)

Have a great evening all. We have to do something special this evening in honor of our new companion. Any ideas?

SG/Linda

Linda I hate to break it to you, you were the founding member of this thread as your name shows up as the one who started it... with a little love, the rest of us helped to keep it going! I will agree with one thing, we need to go out and celebrate. We've been a busy bunch here :D Hmmm... I am partial to 'Ohana or maybe the Luau would be even better. Then we could go watch the EWP all together :D

Hi all... I just wanted to share some lyrics to a song that I absolutely love. This is a song I listen to when I need a pick me up. For instance last week "Saint" Luis got me so mad that I just got in my car and left to go for a drive. I do love driving a lot but when this song came on my CD my world just felt better.

I Will Survive
by Enrique Iglesias

You like to think
That you're the only one who understands my needs
And you tell everyone
That I can't live without you even for one day
But who gave you the right
To talk about the way I feel so deep inside

Now I realize you were never mine
We were never right
Baby you will find
I will survive
I'm gonna make it through
Just give it time
I will get over you
I will survive
No matter what youdo
Just wait and see
I will get over you
'Cause baby I will survive

What makes you think
That I don't see the ways you made a fool of me
Don't laugh behind my back
Because what goes around I promise you comes back

Now I realize you were never mine
We were never right
Baby you will find
I will survive
I'm gonna make it through
Just give it time
I will get over you
I will survive
No matter what youdo
Just wait and see
I will get over you
'Cause baby I will survive

I know for most of us this song may never apply in our lives but somehow it makes me feel stronger... you know just telling yourself that you can do it alone if you need to. The song is really good and I know I am biased because I love Enrique Iglesias. He sings older pop/rock style songs from around the 80's and that is just my style (could be because we are both really close to the same age). It is on his newest CD "Escape" for any who want to know.

I know a silly post for me, but I just wanted to share :D
