My youngest daughter has had the most wonderful teachers all through elementary, but none more caring and encouraging than Mrs. Wilson. She was my daughter's 4th and 5th grade teacher. My daughter started Middle school this week and I just got this email from Mrs. Wilson:

Before I delete my last year's parent contact list in my address book, I wanted to send one last e mail. Please tell your fabulous children that I have been thinking of them all week, hoping that their first week of middle school is going well. No doubt they are flourishing already, and excited about everything. Just let them know that I miss them and hope they are having a great time at school! I hope this message finds all of you parents well rested after summer vacation, and doing great. Best wishes! Judy Wilson

DIS Teachers: Have an awesome school year! We love ya!!:cool1:

I'm not a teacher, just a para, but it's true we do think of the kids often after they leave us. I can't speak for everyone, but I come to really care about the students and I always love to hear how they are doing, down the road.

This year I'm in a highly structured classroom for children with behavior problems. Oh, some of them can really make greys pop out, but still, I'll miss them when they go. We really do care about your kids!

What a wonderful note. Print it out and include it in her scrapbook of school. it is a treasure!

That is very sweet. We have been lucky enough to have had excellent teachers. Earlier this summer I received an email from one of my younger daughter's previous teachers. She had run across a book at a library book sale that she used to read aloud in class. She asked if she could send it to my daughter because she remembered Shannon's giggle every time she read it. I was beyond touched. My daughter has autism yet she has managed to enchant every teacher she has ever had. Most teachers are very special people.

ETA just for Liberty Belle - our paras have rocked, too!!!

That is very sweet.

"My" Mrs Wilson, teacher for 5th and 6th grade, had a nervous breakdown in front of the class, screaming and all, at the end of 5th grade.

Finding out, over the summer, that the 6th grade teacher was retiring and we'd have Mrs Wilson again was...yeah, not good.

The group of us from elementary school still talked about her breakdown at our 20 year HS reunion a couple years ago...

Glad your girl's teacher named Wilson was better!

I email DS17s 7th grade English teacher once/ year to thank her for turning DS on to reading. Up until that point we couldn't get the kid to open a book, except for Harry Potter. Somehow she got him interested in reading to the point his 11th grade English teacher had to scold him for reading too much (in class when he was supposed to be doing other things :rolleyes1).
