Everything you need to know about WDW Christmas- Tips & Secrets

We are actually driving down for our trip so I may bring our small tree that usually goes in my DD's room or buy one from somewhere for cheap and those window clings sound perfect as well, so might get some of them.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas :thumbsup2

Epcot:
-Tree lighting with characters (usually at 6pm between FW and WS).
-Candelight processional (narrarators and dates announced for 2010). Tip: Small kids (and some husbands) find this boring.
-Storytellers in each country only at Christmas. Some stories are really worth listening to.
-Illuminations holiday ending
-You can meet Santa and Mrs. Clause in America several times each day! Check the times guide.

Does anyone know when (approximately what date) the story tellers start in Epcot?

November 26 - December 30th.

Last year I found it very frustrating that they didn't have a printed schedule. It was posted in each country but you couldn't start in one country and go the next and see the next story teller.

Thanks! :thumbsup2 When a pp said the story tellers were "only at Christmas" I was worried that we would miss them.

I was just told by a friend who is PT Disney Travel agent that they will not be allowing people into the parks at 4pm like they have before for the Christmas Party. Has anyone else heard this?

This is my first time going to WDW in early Dec. I haven't been in 6yrs. I'll be going for 6 full days. Is that enough time that we can take a mental health/shopping/hotel day in the middle? Or should we suck it up and go full tilt and just take a day off from work when we return?

Definitely take that day off in the middle! We are veteran commando park-tour types, but last Christmas when we went from Wednesday to Sunday without stopping, we had a lot of meltdowns and grumpy moments along the way!

you know at that time of year one can get a lot of shopping done IN the parks. If you are staying on site then have packages sent to you hotel's gift shop to pick up the next day.

If not staying on site, have the packages sent to the front of the park to pick up as you leave each evening.

:santa:

I have a question about the Osborne lights, as we've never seen them before. If hollywood studios is closing at 7pm the night we are there, doesn't that leave us with little time to see the lights?

The lights stay on for about an hour after the park closes. :thumbsup2

That's good advice lurkyloo. We are both very strong willed and stubborn people that come from very stong willed and stubborn backgrounds (me/Irish, her/Italian) and "grumpy" would probably be a hight point for us in an exhausted state.

And, DisGal520, I am staying on site. We'll be at the POR and I LOVE the fact that everything I buy can be sent to my room. Great advice for those that were not in the know.

MVMCP last day is Dec 19th, is the Christmas Day Parade shown daily at MK during the week before Christmas?

Does anyone know when the resorts and parks are decorated for Xmas?

We are considering a short trip over Thanksgiving (Nov 23-Nov 27).

Looks like we will miss MVMCP but get to see the Osborne lights and possibly the Candlelight Processional (starts our last evening).

We really want to see the decorations so if they are not up yet then we may postpone for a short weekend trip in early Dec.

Thanks for any help!

Yes, starting the 20th.
Thank you for the good news. I just booked a stay at SSR from Dec 18-24th. We love seeing WDW decorated for Christmas and the parade is our second best thing to do after the Candlelight Processional.

Thank you for the link 05MM08MM

I got a quick question about the edible holiday displays. I know that I can take a boat from EPCOT to the Boardwalk, and I can take a bus to any resort. But my question is, once I get to the Boardwalk, can I walk to the Beach Club and Yacht Club resorts to take in all of the displays in their lobbies?

Ever since I saw the H&G Channel's behind the scenes of Christmas at WDW, I'd like to see these for myself. And walking seems to be the quickest way according to Disney maps.

I figure, 1 day I can just step off the monorail 1 day and take in the Contemporary's lobby.

Thank you
