Everything You Need to Know About 40% Off - With Link to Codes : SHHHH!

Remember.. what's happening is that the DISCOUNTED rooms are gone..

That doesn't mean ALL rooms at Disney resorts.. Just the block they've allocated for this discount.. We don't know how big or small that actually is.

That's very true! I'm actually curious to see the difference in crowds, of course it will be difficult for an average Joe to figure how who used a code and who normally goes in December :surfweb:

Yes... if you reread my post it starts: Here is "something to know" about the 40% discount rooms....

Does anyone know if it says on this "postcard" that you must present it at time of check-in? This will probably eliminate confusion then.

I know it doesn't on the e-mail one, but when I made my reservation on the 16th the CM told me to bring it with just incase they as for it, probably like they do sometimes with AAA rates and AP passes.

CanadianGuy, I meant to say this MUCH earlier...but thank you for putting all this together, I know it's very helpful to have it all in one place!!

Mary:

It's been a frustrating week for everyone and I wanted to try and do something to take at least *some* of the mystery out of this mess.

I am glad you found it helpful! That makes me think it wasn't necessarily a bad idea :)

This may be coming to a close.

Updated the original post with news that a memo was circulated at CRO today indicating that under no circumstances are CM's to offer this booking code without the PIN.

:(

My cousin called CRO today and asked about the code. She wasn't making any reservations. She was told that the code was not a public code and anyone who booked with the code and didn't have a pin associated with their address would be charge the full price at check in.

Why would they wait till check in to tell you you have to pay full price? Could they really do such a thing, wait for people to travel hundreds of miles to tell them give me more money or sleep on the street?

I don't get it.

We are going for my cousins wedding in November and so far 4 different families were able to book "the Code" without a pin number. I just hope they tell us if theres a problem before November so we can make other arrangements.

Another example of second/third/fourth hand report from CMs who may not know what they're doing - another sign of lack of quality training at CRO.

Even with the past BW glitch, they called up people before they showed up.

It's easy to be the 'negative nancy' when you're tryin to make someone feel good about NOT getting the discount they just called you about.

This has been kinda borderline crazy/nuts for the past week. It has now officially entered a zone previously reserved for satellite dish installation reservations, cable company tech support and the phone company...

... and debates regarding sharing on the DDP... :lmao:

Yes they can, I have seen it happen first hand and it wasn't pretty

My guess is someone booked at an AP rate and didn't have one, am I close? I saw someone do that also.

This isn't the same...CMs are telling people there is no pin...how would a pin be required upon check in? I booked with a pin, and then threw my card away. Let them try to change my reservation. I'll let my 2 year old loose in the lobby. What about the people that never got a card but have a pin with their name? They certainly can't be required to bring it with them if they never knew it. Different than AP or AAA. That is a membership card, this is not.

Disney isn't going to cancel 100s of rooms that they booked during a slow time because of this...The only people using this code without a pin are people that are on boards like this that heard about it. Very few in the whole scope of Disney. In fact, they might offer less rooms for free dining, or compensate in some other way if they have to. As anyone that has had a flag waving Brazillian tour guide ahead of them, there are LOTS of people that go to WDW that know nothing about anything. Even though the Dis is large, it is kind of arrogant to think that even that many people have such a big effect on the behemoth we know as Disney.

Why on earth would Disney cancel or risk the cancellation of hundreds of rooms during a slow time? That would make NO sense. It would anger tons of people, many of whom booked a trip ONLY because of this and wouldn't have gone otherwise. That is what they want...more trips, upgrades, paying full price for dining, adding days...why on earth would they cancel anyone? This isn't like the other computer glitches people keep refering to, this has been going on for over a week! Disney is so so smart. I'd bet money they aren't going to risk losing all those bookings by trying to cancel them or charging people full price. They'll lose more than they'll gain.

So with all this mess, I decided to sign into disney.com and browse through my online profile and all that, just to check out stuff. I have been receiving various emails from disney, even Disney Destination, but no pincodes. Then I noticed. The email they have in my profile on disney.com is an email address I set up for our 2005 trip back in 2005 and I have removed it from the mail server in the middle of last year 2006.

1) So, obviously they have my current email address stored somewhere (even before my current reservation).

2) The pincode may have gotten sent to this dead email account.

3) Maybe that's why I got the discount deal when I called in with my name, address and phone (those remained the same).

What a mess.

For those that don't have the e-mail or snailmail promotion, has anyone asked outright if the CM actually HAS a code in their name and where it was sent? Although, that would probably be upsetting the apple cart...guess we'll never know. ;)

Yes. I did and I was told that I DID have a code attached to my name. When I asked about the email address on file - it became clear why I didn't get it -- old email.

When I checked that email - I had gotten it.

When I was booking they confirmed my email address with me on each phone call. Sounded like 'standard practice.'

Other people have been told they had one associated with their account but have no idea where it went.. and still others were told there was nothing associated with their account but then told the CM could get them this great discount anyway..

Go figure.

It was just a standard room. Now I regret it and wish I had upgraded. Oh well! We are staying at AKL!!! Doesn't get much better than that!!

I called yesterday and upgraded my standard room to pool view and it was only 50 dollars more we are staying the same number of nights.
