Everything You Need to Know About 40% Off - With Link to Codes : SHHHH!

I agree with letsbgoofy.

Essentialy the more expensive the room the greater the discount.

I called Friday with the code and got a quote for 40% off the room at POFQ and 1 day base and dining for late August. I saved about $280 (or so) for 3 nights. Doesn't even pay for the dining portion or the tickets. A friend of mine called for 5 nights, for a studio and 1 BR at the BWV, for 4 A, 1 C and the savings (over $1400) on the room portion PAID for both dining and 6 day tickets, so they are essentially paying rack and getting both dining and tickets for free.

I believe these codes are coming out shortly, perhaps in the next couple of days or so. This is the same thing that has happend in the past with AP rates - it's almost like Disney would "tease" some folks with the rates a couple of days ahead of time. I booked on those "teases" and never had a problom on booking.

With how this works I very much doubt that there will be free dining.:sad2:

For me, I will just add on to my BWV DVC reservation during that time and add the dining as well.

I want to add I was never asked for a pin, nor was told one was even required by this CM!

I am in the same situation and I booked for myself, my parents and my sister. I made 4 separate phone calls all with different CM's and was only asked once for a pin. I hung up, called back and was told by a different CM no problem with the code.

My family will be very un-happy with me if they get a phone from Disney.

Has anyone ever given the thought to this being part of the "Year Of A Million Dreams" celebration ?? I mean, why not ?? they release a secret code and several of us get a great discount, several don't ! just like in the parks, several get dream fast passes, several don't :wizard:

Yeah, several people have mentioned this idea & I really like it! Here's hoping!

You know, talking about free dining got me thinking...

A friend emailed me last night and asked me how I saved so much with this discount ($1700), because what he was coming up with wasn't nearly as impressive, in fact, he said free dining is a much better deal for him, whearas for me, this is a better deal than free dining.

Obviously the deluxes have larger savings, because of the larger price tag in the first place. Not just a little larger...if an average night at POFQ during value season is around $145, the Poly is about $315, over double. Huge savings for this discount.

People in this thread bring up a good point...all the people that caused the values to book up last fall because of free dining? If those people go with this discount, perhaps instead of free dining, well, they get those hotels filled up just the same, but cheaper for Disney! Free dining would probably be a better deal for them. For me, not so much. Either way, Disney jam packs the hotels during a not so busy time, and causes people, because of this discount, to add days, or upgrade. Me paying 40% off at the Poly is sure better than that room sitting empty.

Disney is very smart, and could have stopped this days ago if they cared. The other "glitches" mentioned were booking online, and the discount went away pretty fast, didn't it? It might have taken them some days to contact those people, but it wasn't as if those wrong discounts were available for days and days. And none of the discounts being discussed now were booked due to a glitch in the system, some CMs even volunteered the discount with no codes.

Another thing. I know there are many many people on this board. BUT...in the scope of things, how important are we? A suite for zero? Yes, they are concerned. But some people getting 40% off with a discount not really meant for them? I'm not sure they care enough to look for it. Our numbers are kind of minor with the huge amount of guests Disney gets each year.

As somone that has a pin, I just don't care if people are getting this with no pin. Good for them. And if people that are getting the pin aren't jumping on it, and when they finally get around to calling and there isn't much availability, bummer for them, they waited too long. It is the same thing as if someone had booked free dining during the period it was available to Disney Visa holders, and they didn't have a Disney Visa. Who cares.

I agree with letsbgoofy (& you too!). And whoever else said that Disney knows what they are doing...very clever.

We are paying MORE than we would have, as our original plans were for POP. I switched to AKL pool view w/bunks & my price jumped $305.99 (not a bad deal since going from value to deluxe). Then DH says "will we be able to see the animals from our room?" So now I call & switch to Savannah w/bunks & our price jumps another $162.

So, we are now paying $467.99 more than we were originally. I should mention that our original POP amount was for 5 nights. We are now only doing 4.

But... we are also paying $496 less than rack rate for the room. That discount more than pays for our dining ($355.88 + tax).

Bottom line, we got a nice discount, but ended up giving Disney more of our money than intended. Plus, DH is now talking concierge--can't blame him, as we are likely to never see concierge at these prices again!

I fall into the above category. The CM offered to look for a discount for me & came back with numbers that strangely resemble 40% off rack.

As somone that has a pin, I just don't care if people are getting this with no pin. Good for them. Thank you!

I'm with you on this one. When all is said and done, we are paying $380 ($42.00 a night) more for switching from POR to POLY. Is the switch worth it, yes and would I do this again you better believe it. If we were talking rack rates here, the difference for the 9 nights between POR and POLY would be $1711 ($190 a night) and in that case we would be staying at POR.

Makes you think they really know what they are doing...

Essentialy the more expensive the room the greater the discount.

Actually no, the discount is still 40% regardless of the cost of the room. :confused3

Sorry Sammie, I mean, the more expensive the room the more the dollar savings.

There's a fixed price on the dining and the tickets. The more expensive the room, the greater the discount overall, that the savings will pay for dining and/or the tickets.

Brilliant, brilliant. They DO know what they are doing.

This question has probably already been asked, but are they sticking to the specific dates for this 40% off? We're looking at April, but there are no April dates on this post.

Yes. They are sticking to the dates.

The only exception being a trip that starts within the date ranges listed in the first post and extends beyond.. (as noted in the original post)

If you're travelling after April 15th, you can get a package that includes free upgrades on your base tickets. But that's the only offer for April that I've heard of...

:woohoo: :dance3: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :dance3: :woohoo:

Just called CRO and switched us from the CR to GF-GV!!! Saved us almost $1600 off rack rate and is still $350 cheaper than our original rack rate package at CR for a Garden Wing Standard!!!!!!

I think I read that someone said that something was coming out tomorrow. I called Disney this morning and was told that they were upgrading their system so I shall see what tomorrow brings.:cheer2:

Slightly Goofy/Linda

Any word on this? I've checked the sites, and haven't seen anything...

I checked the boards bright and early and do not see anything so it must have been an urban legend. :confused3

I am going to try and see if I can book a November trip with the code and will let you all know if it works.

See ya later!
