Well, on to much less exciting things. As Bambi pointed out last night, I really shouldn't have posted Kaylene's story yet, because now I have to try and follow that act....
But, I'll do my best, because I'm already almost a week late in starting my next TR.
When we last left the urine-free team, we had taken a Photopass picture in front of Cindy's place and were heading to the monorail. We got to the TTC, crossed over to the Epcot platform and boarded the not-a-Tronorail. Because as we've learned - the Tronorail is a figment of your imagination. It does not exist and you can never ride it.
We had an early dinner ADR at La Hacienda de San Angel. Bambi's brother had just gotten back into town and we were going to meet him and his friend for dinner.
As we walked back toward the Mexico pavilion, we noticed the Disney landscaping crew was having problems getting the Christmas lights up. Maybe they shouldn't have hired a shrub to do it?
We also learned a valuable money saving tip. Evan was starting to get a bit of a fever, so we stopped in the gift shop to see if they had any Children's Tylenol. They didn't but suggested we try the first aid station over near Mexico. We went over, and I walked in. There was a simple room with two ladies behind a counter. I asked if I could buy some Children's Tylenol. They asked for the age and weight of the child, poured me the correct dosage into a small plastic cup and told me they hope he feels better.
FREE DRUGS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD!!
Evan did take the medicine and was feeling much better as soon as it started working. In the meantime, we completed our walk to the Mexican Pavilion.
A quick aside here - I really like what the imagineers did with the restaurant in Mexico. The quick service place was taking up valuable lake shore real estate so it made perfect sense to remodel it into a table service. However, when the restaurant you have inside the temple is called
San Angel Inn, do you really think it's a good idea to name the new place La Hacienda de
San Angel? I'm sure to any native Spanish speakers it's not a big deal - but to the rest of us, San Angel is the part of the name that your ear is going to pick up the clearest and your mind is going to remember. Of the 8 of dining that night, 7 of us though we were at San Angel Inn.
Anyway, we arrived a bit early, so we took a nice leisurely ride on It's a Small World Lite. (Much shorter than the original and without the soundtrack. For the full experience, you must upgrade to the full version.)
We met up with Uncle Bill and I checked in our party of 8. Within a few minutes, we were lead to...two tables. That were back to back. Ummm...no. I understand if you don't have a table of 8 available, but you can slide two tables of 4 side to side so we can at least pretend to be at the same table. I told the host that this was unacceptable. We had to wait another 15 or so minutes, but they then gave us a nice long table, right up by the window where we could watch the sun set over World Showcase Lagoon. Ahhh...much better.
We were to busy getting caught up that I forgot to take many pictures of the restaurant, but here is one of the funky lights.
Dinner was pretty good. I don't really recall what I had, but I'm sure it came with a side of beans and rice.
After dinner we realized that the credit card had not burst into flames yet, so we hit MouseGear for a little end of vacation shopping. Included in the haul:
Lotso Huggin Bear.
We decided to try and get over to Hollywood Studios and see if we could catch Fantasmic, so we made our way out through the International Gateway and over to the boat launch. We seemed to wait quite a while, but eventually the captain brought the boat roaring up the channel and did a Crazy Ivan to get it spun around.
We were keeping a close eye on the time, thinking we just might get lucky enough to make it in time. As soon as we realized we were stopping at the Beach Club, Boardwalk, and Swan & Carp hotels (take a look at that statue and tell me with a straight face it looks like a Dolphin. No, it's a carp. Plain and simple) we knew we wouldn't make it. That's OK, though, we'd seen it before and we'll see it again.
We did make it in time to get through the gates and spend a bit more money in the gift shops. While Bambi shopped, Evan found a nice back light to use to study his map.
It wasn't too long before the sea of humanity that was the Fantasmic audience came streaming out of the park and we found Kaylene and Kayden. (
Streaming.

) Kaylene retold her story (with just a touch more profanity that the version you got to read) and we headed to the cars for the ride back to Lakeland.
And that, in a nutshell, was our trip. I wish I had more for you, but that picture of Evan reading his map was the last one I had on the camera for our vacation. I know Bambi's parents gave us a ride to the airport and that we few home on Frontier (our northbound plane had Foxy the Fox on the tail). But really, the awesomeness of the vacation vastly outshines the depression of the going home day. And that's never a bad thing.
I'll be back with a final wrap up post in a day or so. (That will give me a chance to create my April Trip Report and insert many, many shameless plugs for it.)
