Everything Old Is New Again! - A Dec 2010 Trip Report : THE FINAL ENTRY page 45

Nice pictures! I always assumed that the photographer was there for private photo shoots too.

What fabulous pictures! Love them all. I have to agree with Boma. The food seems to weird for my taste.

From there, we all piled into the cars and headed back to Grandma & Grandpa's house in Lakeland to crash for the night. (Not the cars - those made it safe and sound. I was talking about us crashing. Into the beds. There was no bed damage either, in case you were wondering.)
:sad2:

UP NEXT: It was our last day in the parks. So we went to 3 of them. :thumbsup2
Awesome! Can't wait to see that!:thumbsup2

Great photopass pictures! That's great that the photographer took so much time with all of you. Several of those pictures would make a great Christmas card.

We had dinner reservations at Boma. We had never eaten there before, and to be honest, I'm surprised I got other people to agree to go. Bambi's father is a very traditional meat-and-potatoes guy, her mom is a vegetarian, the kids are, well, kids and don't like to venture very far from mac & cheese and chicken nuggets.

So do Bambi's mom and dad have to fight over the dinner menu every night? :confused3

I see your kids are on the same diet as mine.

She meant business. I didn't know if she was setting up for a private shoot or something, but I asked if we could get a few shots. Not only did she take a few shots, she took dozens! Dozens upon dozens! Every combination of kids, parents, grandparents, etc. And here now, for your view pleasure, I present....Us.

These are really great shots! I agree with Andy--I'm expecting to see one of these as a Christmas card picture. Nice job on the t-shirts, too! They look cool. My wife just tried making some of her own and while the first batch was a little rough, she's getting the hang of them.

Disney Magic: Check!

:goodvibes

Well, that's a relief. Those buffets can be killers on furniture.

Barry, what AWESOME photopass pictures -- I can't pick a favorite as they are all great! You guys did pretty darn good on those t-shirts too.

We've never done Boma for dinner; my BFF here on the DIS who does food reviews did not care for it either and she has never steered me wrong, so we've stayed away. I do LOVE it for breakfast though.

Glad you are back safe and sound.

We have done Boma for breakfast - which is yummy - but only a hint o' flavors of Africa :)

I love, love, love the photopass pictures. How wonderful to find a photographer right there at the resort. And that photo of your daughter laying a big smacker on her friend is just my favorite.

I love all the pictures that the photopass person took! I didn't know they even had photopass people in the resorts untill I joined the DIS. How cool that you got one that was like a professional photoshoot. That is now on my list of things I want to do (if I find it) on a future trip.
Let me give you some advice on how to find the in the resorts: Luck.
Sorry, that's all I got. :confused3

Never hurts to ask, huh? :thumbsup2

Thanks. A coworker is going down to WDW in just over a week with her three kids. Two of them are very picky eaters, but they're going to try Boma. I can't wait to hear how it went for them...

Thanks! It's too bad we didn't get the Photopass CD until after Christmas. :sad2:

So do Bambi's mom and dad have to fight over the dinner menu every night? :confused3
Nah, she's OK cooking the meat, she just doesn't eat it.
I see your kids are on the same diet as mine.
 <---Shocked to hear that.

By the time next Christmas rolls around, those pictures will be over a year old. Sounds like an excuse to go back this December for more pictures!

Make sure she posts pictures of the shirts! (Once she gets a batch she likes, of course)

Well, that's a relief. Those buffets can be killers on furniture.
Especially the porcelain furniture. :sad2:

Thanks! We didn't know what to expect going in to Boma. The really was much more "normal" than I had been expecting.

great photopass pics there. We only encountered two very grumpy photopass photographers that rushed us off others took their time :)

How can you be grumpy doing that job? You're in the most magical place on earth taking pictures of people that are happy to be there? :confused3:confused3

And so it arrived. Our last day at Disney World.
But we weren't going to let that simple fact get us down. Instead, we had 14 glorious hours left to enjoy as much of WDW as we could. And by golly, if that meant 3 parks in one day, we'd do it!
We were going to use this as a "catch up" day and try to get in all of the things we were not able to do earlier in the week.

First stop: Disney's Hollywood Studios.

While killing time waiting to check off our first "catch up" item, we wandered down to the Tower of Terror. My kids didn't want to ride, but Kaylene and Kayden did. While waiting for them , I noticed the attraction's sign.

IMG_4729.JPG

Nothing out of the ordinary. Themed to fit perfectly with the grand old 1930's hotel. But then, a little Disney Magic (and some fiber optic lighting) took over. The sign slowly started to flicker and a message appeared:

IMG_4730.JPG

It's amazing the amount of things you miss while just showing a Fastpass heading up the queue line.

After the ride, we still had a bit of time to kill, so, like any good Disney Park guest, we hit the stores. Goofy Hat Picture! (No, really, it's a Goofy hat. You can see it written right on it)
IMG_4731.JPG

This doesn't make any sense. "Beverly" and "Sweet" in the same sign?
IMG_4735.JPG

Finally, after what seemed liked hours, "catch up" item number 1 appeared!
Otto Von Bohn Bonn, Director...und Genius!
Madison has been a big fan of his for years. Every time we go, we make it a point to try and see him. He wasn't around on our earlier DHS day, but a little birdie told me he would be out this morning. During our last trip, our DHS day was very rainy, and none of the streetmospher charters were out. In a really cool twist of Disney magic, we ran into him (the actor) that afternoon while shopping. (Scroll to the bottom of this post to read the whole story)

We had planned for this, so Madison was wearing her "Otto Von Bohn Bonn Fan Club Member #1" shirt, which Otto promptly signed.
IMG_4740.JPG

Otto, Dorma Nesmond and Evie Starlight had come out in a movie production truck full of their props for their bit. For some reason, an iPhone must have been one of their props, because Otto went to the truck, grabbed it, and used it to take a picture of Madison in her shirt.

IMG_4744.JPG

We watched their show, then Kayden wanted to get a picture with Evie Starlight. Sure, she's not a princess, but whatever. Kayden knows talent when he sees it.

Catch Up Item #1: Caught Up!

Next Stop: Magic Kingdom
We left the cars at DHS, as we would be returning there that evening to round out our festivities. So we bussed it to Magic Kingdom, where we immediately hopped on the Walt Disney World Rail Road.

Evan, like I'm assuming all little boys, is a big fan on trains. So...

Catch Up Item #2: Caught Up!

We watched our head and step, took our small children by the hands and disembarked at Frontierland Station in search of some vittles. I've never been to Columbia Harbor House, so I wanted to give that a shot. No one else in the family is a big fan of seafood, so I went there alone while they went to Pecos Bill's. I got a call from Bambi while I was in line asking what they had on their kid's menu. One of the items was Mac & Cheese, so it was requested of me to get my meal, plus 3 kids meals. So I balanced 4 meals on my tray and precariously walked down to Pecos Bill's to meat up and eat. (And you thought I was done with the puns! "Meat" up and eat! Hahahahahaha)

After eating, most of the group went over to ride the teacups. I had a slight detour through Adventureland and Aloha Isle. My two best friends and I stopped for a little photoshoot on our way to Fantasyland.

IMG00060-20101211-1243.jpg

It had been soooo cold earlier in the week that we didn't even stop for a Dole Whip. Sooo.....

Catch Up Item #3: Caught Up!

Speaking of catching up, I got to the ride just in time to give Bambi a few bites of Dole Whip before she jumped into a spinning cup full of kids and got to watch me sit in the shade, slurping down pineapple goodness.

IMG_4756.JPG

:rolleyes1

Anyway, we wandered Toontown for a bit, then took the trail along the train tracks to Tomorrowland and Space Mountain. I had gotten Fastpasses earlier in the day and the plan was for Bambi, Kaylene and I to go while the kids hung out with Bambi's parents. Evan had other ideas, and for some reason, did not want to be separated from Bambi. So she took the kids on the TTA while Kaylene and I rode Space Mountain.

IMG_4774.JPG

It was at this time that Kaylene and Kayden broke from the heard and set off on their own. They were going back to Hollywood Studios to see the Beauty and the Beast show and that evening's Fantasmic. More on their solo adventures in a future update. And it's a doozy.

Madison really wanted to meet Rapunzel, and since she has Grandpa wrapped around her little finger, he was standing in line for over an hour for her. Evan was not interested, so when Bambi and Madison set off for the castle, Evan and I rode Atro Orbiter.
IMG00063-20101211-1505.jpg

While everyone was waiting for Rapunzel and Flynn to come out, there were coloring sheets and crayons set up at a table that the kids got to entertain themselves with. Eventually, Rapunzel came out and got a big ole Madison Brand© Hug.

IMG_4782.JPG

Rapunzel and Flynn led the kids in a little dance around the table...

IMG_4786.JPG

...then took their spot up on the greeting area stage. While Madison waited for her turn, she asked a CM where Pascal was. He then produced the chameleon, who got a few good pictures with Madison.

IMG_4791.JPG

IMG_4792.JPG

Evan and I got off Astro Orbiter just in time to make it over and see Madison with Rapunzel. He still had no interest in meeting her, so we hung off to the side.

Catch Up Item #4: Caught Up!

By now it was after 3, and we had 4:45 dinner reservations elsewhere. (Telling you now would spoil the surprise.) We sadly started walking out of the Magic Kingdom for the last time, but stopped for one more quick Photopass picture.

Coming Up Next: Kaylene's Adventure's in DHS. Trust me, you DON'T want to miss this...

Awesome update. I love that you went from DHS to MK and ticked off those missed items. Madison just has the prettiest darn smile...she lights up a room (or a waiting area if you prefer). The last "family photopass" picture is one of my favorites.

Can't wait to hear about Kaylene's adventures back at DHS.

Oh, and I sent you a "friend request" on Facebook. :goodvibes

This doesn't make any sense. "Beverly" and "Sweet" in the same sign?
Yeah, that is a bit odd.

Finally, after what seemed liked hours, "catch up" item number 1 appeared!
Otto Von Bohn Bonn, Director...und Genius!
Awesome! Glad she got to see him.:thumbsup2

For some reason, an iPhone must have been one of their props, because Otto went to the truck, grabbed it, and used it to take a picture of Madison in her shirt.
That's really cool! As much as it meant to Madison, it looks like it must have been pretty special for him to meet such a big fan!

So I balanced 4 meals on my tray and precariously walked down to Pecos Bill's to meat up and eat. (And you thought I was done with the puns! "Meat" up and eat! Hahahahahaha)
I was hoping it was just a typo... guess not.:sad2:

After eating, most of the group went over to ride the teacups. I had a slight detour through Adventureland and Aloha Isle. My two best friends and I stopped for a little photoshoot on our way to Fantasyland.
I wonder what the other people around you thought about the guy taking pictures of Dole Whips in front of the castle. :lmao::rotfl2: I guess if they didn't know you, they just wouldn't get it.

Speaking of catching up, I got to the ride just in time to give Bambi a few bites of Dole Whip before she jumped into a spinning cup full of kids and got to watch me sit in the shade, slurping down pineapple goodness.
Dole Whip right before riding the Tea Cups... just doesn't strike me as being a great idea.

Great "last" picture! :thumbsup2

Coming Up Next: Kaylene's Adventure's in DHS. Trust me, you DON'T want to miss this...
I don't want to miss it, but not because I trust you! :rotfl::rotfl2: Look forward to reading more.:thumbsup2

And so it arrived. Our last day at Disney World.

:sad1::sad1:

While killing time waiting to check off our first "catch up" item, we wandered down to the Tower of Terror. My kids didn't want to ride, but Kaylene and Kayden did. While waiting for them , I noticed the attraction's sign.

I love that effect, too. My son was fascinated watching it appear.

:sad2:

This doesn't make any sense. "Beverly" and "Sweet" in the same sign?

Yeah, that is odd. Although it says "Beverly Sunset", so maybe they're cursing the sunset for some reason? :confused3

During our last trip, our DHS day was very rainy, and none of the streetmospher charters were out. In a really cool twist of Disney magic, we ran into him (the actor) that afternoon while shopping. (Scroll to the bottom of this post to read the whole story)

I remember that story--that was incredibly magical! Did Otto remember her at all?

Evan, like I'm assuming all little boys, is a big fan on trains. So...

I hear a few big boys still get excited about trains, too. :rolleyes1

So I balanced 4 meals on my tray and precariously walked down to Pecos Bill's to meat up and eat. (And you thought I was done with the puns! "Meat" up and eat! Hahahahahaha)

The "Try the veal" joke seems to fit perfectly here.

It had been soooo cold earlier in the week that we didn't even stop for a Dole Whip. Sooo.....

Thank goodness. This trip didn't feel complete yet.

Speaking of catching up, I got to the ride just in time to give Bambi a few bites of Dole Whip before she jumped into a spinning cup full of kids and got to watch me sit in the shade, slurping down pineapple goodness.

Here, Bambi, have some Dole Whip. It's swirled very nicely. Why not take it with you on the ride? If you feel yourself getting nauseous, just look into the center of the cup.

Evan had other ideas, and for some reason, did not want to be separated from Bambi. So she took the kids on the TTA while Kaylene and I rode Space Mountain.

Boy, she's taking a lot of hits for the team here.

Eventually, Rapunzel came out and got a big ole Madison Brand© Hug.

Does it cost anything to experience one of these? They look pretty cool. :goodvibes

Coming Up Next: Kaylene's Adventure's in DHS. Trust me, you DON'T want to miss this...

Great update!

I'm glad that Otto was able to finally <ahem ;) > meet Madison in person!

After eating, most of the group went over to ride the teacups. I had a slight detour through Adventureland and Aloha Isle. My two best friends and I stopped for a little photoshoot on our way to Fantasyland.

IMG00060-20101211-1243.jpg

I am fearing that these two beauties may fall off of the railing...they're perched so precariously. It's like watching Michael Jackson holding Blanket over the railing of that balcony. :rotfl2:

I'm glad they found a Flynn Rider character who can pull off "the smolder".

Now you are copying me???? :confused3 Love the tie dyed shirts!!! They look pretty good! Now when are you gonna make us some? :lmao::lmao:

The PP photographer at WL took some great pics of you guys!! I think you have some contenders for next years Christmas card in there.

Thanks for the dole whip float pics.... I'm drooling all over myself here.

Glad you were catching up on some rides and attractions you missed..... I can't wait to hear about the fiasco... wait a min- you didn't say it was a fiasco, did you? :confused3

great update barry!! like the pics!! the beverly shop and dole whips are great.:thumbsup2
