According to this post by WebmasterDoc, there are a total of 3173 DVC units that could make up a maximum of 4543 rooms (if all lock offs were broken up).

Units / % of Total Units / Resort / Max Available Rooms / % of Max Avail Rms

102 / 3.2% / HHI / 123 / 2.7%
136 / 4.3% / VWL / 181 / 4.0%
172 / 5.4% / VB / 208 / 4.6%
208 / 6.6% / BCV / 282 / 6.2%
295 / 9.3% / BLT / 428 / 9.4%

383 / 12.1% / BWV / 532 / 11.7%

458 / 14.4% / AKV / 708 / 15.6%
531 / 16.7% / OKW / 761 / 16.8%
888 / 28.0% / SSR / 1320 / 29.1%\

Guess I'll have to quit saying BWV is one of the 3 smaller WDW DVC resorts - BLT has replaced it! :) BWV is smack dab in the middle - as far as size goes, LOL.

Percentage wise, SSR is nearly as big as OKW & AKV combined!

HHI really is quite small - no wonder it's tough to get something there during peak season if you don't have the home resort booking advantage.

Wow, I didn't know HHI was so small. I guess GCV will be even smaller when it comes on line..

I created a slightly different scale using 2 bedroom equivalents to try to make the some equality between a resort having 1 GV vs. 1 studio, not just 1 room. I'm not sure which scale reflects the size the best. Mine is more of a size scale.

2 Bedroom Equivalents...
(two bdrm =1, one bdrm = 2/3; studio=1/3; GV = 2)

VB =109 (4%)
HHI = 112 (4%)
VWL = 114 (4%)
BCV = 177 (6%)
BWV = 282 (9%)
BLT = 309 (10%)
AKV = 449 (15%)
OKW = 558 (18%)
SSR = 924 (30%)

Total = 3034

So Carol, you can still say that BWV is it the third smallest WDW DVC using this scale. :goodvibes

If you put them on a scale from 0 to 10...

VB = 0.0
HHI = 0.0
VWL = 0.0
BCV = 0.8
BWV = 2.1
BLT = 2.4
AKV = 4.2
OKW = 5.5
SSR = 10.0

Anyway you look at it SSR is HUGE!!

WOW! I didn't know that my WLV was so small. Now we know why so many DVCers have trouble with that 7 month booking window.

These numbers explain why BCV cost so much more than BWV. However, I must say, you would think VWL would garner more than it does on the resale market. It should sell for quite the premium instead of on par with BWV.

Also, I know that DVC was selling at a pretty brisk pace, but DVD really took a gamble with SSR. They built a huge resort with golf, shopping, and a spa as the draw. They should have definitely went with point charts similar to OkW in my opinion for this resort, or should have definitely made it much smaller. From what I understand, DVD was in a hurry to get product out, and didn't think it through. I really like the updated furnishings, but the rooms are smaller than OKW and the points charts are higher. I think THV will help.

Even though AKL is large as well, I think it will always have some draw over SSR. You have the animals, the great point charts, and 1 bedrooms that sleep 5.

ALso, please explain your 0-10 scale. How did you arrive at your numbers? I don't get it.

....

Yeah, but there are many other factors to consider besides just volume, like location or theming.

Thanks. Yes, I have often wondered about this.

Sorry, I hate to be the naysayer here, but I've never agreed with these msmts. BC and BW are small but share infrastructure with their partner hotels. To truly get the feel of size, you have to take in to consideration the thousands of hotel guests you share facilities with. If you look at it that way, OKW and SSR are the two smallest resorts (Which explains the exclusive feel you have at these resorts).
