My DH and I were having dinner at the Garden Grill in the Land Pavillion in Epcot several years ago when Mickey & Minnie (after making their rounds) went up to a table that obviously were also cast members, when Mickey & Minnie started interacting with the cast members verbally! :scratchin There was a private joke of some sort going on and the costumed M & M were laughing and literally rolling on the floor :rotfl:trying not to laugh & talk out loud but they did. I was very disappointed with the entire group of cast members. Especially Mickey & Minnie. That experience has never left my mind and kind of spoiled the "innocence" of the characters.:worried:

Not I. Never had a BAD Character moment, except when my DW started to act goofy! AHH -HAA!:rotfl2:

I had eaten at the Crystal Palace several times, and I brought my family there for their first visit a few months ago. The characters usually visit with each table at least one time. My brother got up to get a plate of food, and Tigger came over to visit while he was away. I informed the handler that he was away, but he would not let the character wait even while I went to alert my brother that our favorite character, Tigger, whom we'd adored as kids, was visiting with us.... There was no reasoning with the handler. He said that they had a "tight schedule," but the restaurant barely had 30 people in it, if that. He didn't let Tigger visit my family again, although Tigger somehow had time to play with table in the section behind us (four giggling high school aged girls) three times! We missed out on that photo opportunity, but seeing him visit another table like that just rubbed it in the wrong way.

My fiance and I canceled our regular dinner reservation there on our recent visit. I haven't gotten over it yet.
I wish the handler would have taken more time to listen.

yep - well my DD has, twice at Garden Grill. When she was 10, had her hair in two braids. Chip started fooling around, pulling on her braids, but then really started yanking hard. Had to yell for the waiter to come get him out of there - he was actually hurting her. Fast forward 10 years -- we're sitting in the Garden Grill last May, DD is now 20. Had her hair up in a ponytail. Chip comes along and starts messing with her ponytail, rolling it around on top of her head...she was nearly in tears by the time we got rid of him & her hair was a tangled mess. Don't know where the handler was, but could have used one to get rid of Chip.

We have never had abad experience.

We have never had a bad experience, but every time I have done a photo op with my family the characters seem to be a little friendly with me. I just hope they are women in the suits(I am a man).

I know lots of folks had issues with their little kids getting scared to death a few years back with the villians were the hot fad. They were chasing kids and stuff. That seems to have faded away nowadays

I've never had a bad experience, but that would have been a shocker to see Mickey and Minnie talking! Only once did I ever see someone break character, and it was at a character meal where DH and I were sitting out of sight of the main area. A face character (I won't say which one) was chatting with us and ended up talking about their experiences working at Disney etc. The meal wasn't really busy, so they had a little time to spend with us. It was actually very fascinating and is one of our most enjoyable memories. Obviously, I'm sure the character would not have done it if there were children within earshot.

Some people may call it bad, but I thought it was funny and in character:

In AK there's the 2 monkey/gorillas which I believe were from Jungle Book. One of them turned his back to everyone and scratched his butt. I got a picture even.

LIke I said, I thought it was funny and in character, but I'm sure someone probably thought it was inappropriate.

As long as he didn't throw Pooh...er, poo! ;)

HAHA that is too cute!

We were not impressed with the characters at CRT. Some of the "princesses" were a bit rude...they made us feel like we were bothering them.

Other than that, they have all been fine.

:lovestruc

Belle won't return my phone calls.....

(Just kidding... No bad character interactions here!)

Well, other than the time Cinderella and I got into a catfight over Prince Charming...

kidding!

Yup. DD4 was just a tiny thing when she met Lilo and Stitch in AK. Stitch got a little obnoxious and actually dragged her into a store! He was trying to be funny but he actually scared her to death and scraped her leg on the ground. She was really embarassed because he hurt her and she didn't want to cry:sad1:.
I actually had to tell him that was enough! :mad:Thank goodness DH wasn't there.:scared: I would have been reading a 'Crazy guy wearing Red Sox Hat beats up Stitch' thread on the dis when we got home.

A few years ago when my family and I were staying at the Wilderness Lodge we saw Eeyore in the lobby taking pictures with some families and when it was our turn he walked away from us. He was also without a handler to walk with him and to say he will be leaving and etc, so it was disappointing and weird to see him walk away as we were going up to him.

Costumed characters speaking while on-stage is an absolute NO. That was really stupid of those CMs. If you had reported it, they would probably have lost their jobs. No very bright of them.

years back when I was a kid Captain Hook used to hang out under the train station on Main Street. and chase kids.

I still get a little skittish when I walk under there because I always expect him to jump out.

I have a terribly inappropriate photo of Minnie Mouse engaged in an open-mouth kiss with my 60 year old dad. BTW, Minnie's mouth was open NOT my dad's! ;)
