Ever get a discount on a phone reservation??

I've read here that some folks call in their resort reservations, rather than doing them on-line, and get told there is a discount code "next to their name." How often does this happen? Is it worth a call? What number do you call?

It happened to me last night. I called Disney reservations (407)939-7639 & checked what resorts had availability next month. This is a last minute trip. She found us AKL pool view the week of Feb. 10th. I asked her if there were any codes under my name. She 1st said no, but then said to wait while she checks something. Then she said yes, we got a discount. We only saved about $300, but I'll take it. I believe she gave us the code for Feb which I had thought had expired already. I think it was ZVD. It wasn't one of those pin codes that give you 40% off.
It doesn't hurt to ask...

I never book on line, I always handle my reservations by phone (I prefer to speak to a human). I have never had the discount attached to my name, but usually when you see people mention this, there will be a code released within a few days. I now have an AP, so I have a choice of discounts. I usually book first with a AAA rate (if available), then keep checking to see if a better rate has been released through AP website or a General Public Code. I also have the Disney Visa, but you have to use it to book the trip, so I don't use that one.

I don't know if you would call it a discount, but we had a CM angel when my mom and I went for my senior high school trip about 8 years ago. Mom, my best friend and I were all hoping to go for a week, but my dad was concerned about the cost. My mom called to speak with a CM about costs of booking the trip and told the CM she didn't know if we could swing it. The CM then said 'let me see what I can do. Just a moment'. She came back with an amazing discount for my mom that brought it down within our price range at the time. Later that evening, the CM called our house, but we were not home. Upon calling the woman back, my mother discovered that the CM had called from her home number. She had given us her CM discount of which she only received several per year! What an amazing woman! I still wish I knew who she was so I could thank her myself! She insisted that we not do anything for her that she did it out of the kindness of her heart.

This is why I am a FIRM believer in calling to book your trip. That woman made my year!!! We were so blessed to have spoken to the right person at the right time!
