Events leading up to the big day...

Each time we go to Disneyworld, its always a huge family event (always 12+people). In anticipation to leading up to our trip, we have family challenges, events, etc. to keep the hype and excitement going. I am running out of ideas for this trip and hoping some of you may have done similar things that may spark something for us. Here are some examples we have done in the past to give you an idea what I am talking about.

- Scheduled night where we have a Disney themed diner and then head to the Disney store afterward to pick out a Disney costume for the "dress up/picture day" at Magic Kingdom for the kids.

- Exercise challenge (60 days out) to build up our endurance.

- Kids Activity of Countdown calendar building.

- Disney Movie night Friday night (for the last month before our trip).

- Post previous trip videos/pictures on Facebook for the 10 day countdown.

- Voting party (family game challenge, usually on the Nintendo Wii, Team Sack race, our outside activity) to decide which restaurant we are eating at for a particular dinner (do this for each day, different event each time). Usually spread this out one over the course of a couple months.

- Kids have a similar competitions for choosing which ride is first on a certain day (for rope drop or not). <-- cheat this so that every kid gets a choice, but fun

Wow - you are so creative with the ideas! We have been watching movies, watching youtube trip videos, etc. with the kids.

Two more ideas that we've been doing:

Reading Disney books (either story books or the new Kingdom Keepers chapter books for my older ones).

Disney dinners... making recipes from online copy-cat sites. Or using Mickey pasta shapes, etc.

I forgot to mention we also have all the disney ride songs and movie songs on my iphone and we play "guess that song" and winner gets to pick who had to be the runner to get Fast Passes (which no more old fast passes so that will change).
