Evening EMH - how is it being enforced?

I'm hoping recent visitors can report on how Disney is currently enforcing evening EMH. This perk is one of the reasons my family keeps coming back every year. I've scheduled the park days for our upcoming trip around them.

Does anyone know if CMs are checking bands to make sure a guest has a current resort ressie before they ride attractions during EMH?

Thanks!

Bands are scanned at the entrance to each attraction for evening EMH.

This. They pull up your name and resort on a tablet of some sort. I was even asked my name and resort at one ride last week. It was more of a joking ask but asked nonetheless.

We were asked for our magic band when going onto a ride, but their scanner wasn't working so they just let us on. This happened a few times. In Magic Kingdom we weren't asked for anything during EMH.

How do they do it for the hotels that are part of magic hours but do not have bands like Shades of Green or Dolphin/Swan?

That is so disappointing. I view EMH as a huge perk to staying onsite. The CM's in all the parks should be scanning the bands...especially MK.

I have to say the disposal bracelets ghey used to use were the best. Easy to see and always changing.

We were just at MK two nights ago for EMH. They scanned at every ride. One band per family.

Room Cards.:)

Good question, when we were at MK eve. emh two years ago we had to show our room card at every attraction. I hope they do check, it is a perk. But there will always be people trying to abuse :headache:

Magic Bands are being scanned or Hotel Key Cards from the Swan and Dolphin or DTD Hilton are accepted as both these hotels offer EM access

Just back from a 11 day stay. Went to EMH at EPCOT on two nights and MK on two nights. On 3 of the 4 occasions, the scanning system wasn't working, so they just asked us "Where are you staying?" and let us on. :rotfl2: Great system :confused3

I don't know that I see people trying to "abuse" as much as I see people who have no idea what EMH is or that they have to be a resort guest to utilize. I've seen a number of families with small kids turned away from rides during EMH because they weren't resort guests and felt badly for the disappointed youngsters.

Yes, this happened to us at one ride, BUT we did have to show a magic band or hotel ID. So still only people with magic bands or IDs could get on the rides. I doubt there are that many people staying offsite bringing old magic bands on any given night to worry about.

I think it's enforced just fine. For the EMH we experienced this last weekend, I felt like we were the only ones in the park.

Do you already have to be in the park to take advantage of evening EMH? My husband and I are staying in the Epcot resort area this August, and we were hoping to stay at Magic Kingdom until 9:00 and then take the monorail back to Epcot to grab a drink and walk back to our resort. Epcot closes at 9:00 but has EMH until 11:00. Will they let us in after 9:00? Thanks.

You should be fine.

Yes, with a Magicband, if you are staying onsite, you will be able to access the park even after normal closing.

I understand what you're saying, but people know what time the park closes. If the park 'closed' at 9:00, and you're trying to get on a ride at 9:20, then you should have known it wasn't going to fly...the park is closed! I think most CMs will cut you some slack if it's 10 mins or so after park closing, but more than that would be trying to take advantage.

I will say that my MB has been scanned at all attractions for EMHs.

The first week of June at DHS it was hit or miss at the evening EMH. At Toy Story they did scan the bands. At Star Tours they just asked what hotel you were at and waved you through. A member of a group that went through ahead of me asked another member, "Why did you say we were at Coronado Springs?" It was clear they were off site people, and at least one of them knew how to play the system.

That being said, it was very quiet at DHS during EMH. Some of the streets were literally empty. We waited about 15 minutes for TSM and everything else was a walk on.

The DTD Hilton has access to EMH and you just need to show a room card to use EMH. Some CM's "scan" the card but they can't actually scan anything as they don't read the room cards.

in Magic Kingdom we weren't asked for anything during EMH.
We were scanned at every attraction until the last 20 minutes or so, at which point the park was just about dead (this was an 11p-1A EMH).
