ER question... what is wrong with Dr. Carter?

This is not right because there are 3 shows left. They have been doing a count down.

Was Dr Ross there when Dr Carter came to the hospital....maybe that is why he never asked :confused3 Dr Carter was not there from the beginning I don't think. Someone said they are watching the first season do they know? I have a bad memory.

Carter was there from the beginning. He was the last of the original cast members to leave. He started out as a 3rd year med student on surgery. Then he was a 4th year the second season, surgical intern the 3rd season, and switched to emergency during the 4th season. Ross left during the 5th season, I think? I just don't think they ever interacted as much.

Did anyone think it was odd that Dr. Ross didn't ask Neela and Sam about Carter when he was asking if others were still at County? or did I miss something. He didn't even ask if Carter was still there when he was asking about the others, and neela and sam didn't mention carter either when they were mentioning names.

Carter was just a resident when Ross left, so there wasn't the relationship that he had with the older doctors.

I can't understand why everyone expects things to be so neatly tied up. There is no way Ross would have found out about the kidney, because that information is confidential. Appreciate the irony that they saved a former co-worker's life for what it was.

I thought it was perfect, and true to life. Chicago's a big town, so "saving a doctor in Chicago" could have been anyone. They haven't lived in Chicago in a while, doctors/nurses/orderlies come & go, and after not connecting on a few people, I'm sure Doug didn't think to ask about anyone else. The scenes with Benton were perfect as well. I was always a Benton fan (I know he could be a PITA sometimes), and I enjoyed the scenes with Carter. I preferred this way of bringing them back without it being the hospital closing or someone dying.

Series Finale is April 2nd............and rumor has it that Rachel Greene (Dr. Greene's daughter) comes back as an intern so the circle will be complete.

Have a Magical Disney Day!!

That is so funny. I was just lying in bed last night thinking about the show and I thought how AWESOME it would be if on the last episode Rachel Greene came in as the new Carter, and Carter was the new Greene, napping in the on call room.

I'm gonna cry when it's over!

I will be emotional when this show is over too ::yes::
I've have not missed one episode since day 1 - it's been a part of my life for such a long time. I remember watching this show while in college, my DH and I's first apartment, in the hospital when my girls were born, and the list goes on and on. I don't know what I'm going to do on Thursday nights

I'm not looking forward to the last episode :sad2:

I loved the episode... I think Benton was perfect kind of ****** but with a heart to those he cares about... I like that he was still with Cleo.

I really thought the storyline with Doug and Carol was great... I loved that they didn't know who the kidney was for because they were doing there job and didn't realize they had a hand in saving their friend... I wondered why he didn't mention Carter because they were in the ER together... but I am willing to overlook that ;)

I love how the old characters are coming back and it seems natural not forced.

If there are only 2 left then one Thursday we don't have an episode... it must be in 2 weeks. Because it said all new next week and the series finale :sad1: is April 2.

I think a reason Ross may not have asked about Carter is that no one else he asked about was still there. They asked him about people he did not know, so it might have been awkward.

I was just glad to see a happy ending to last night's show.

My speculation Dr Ross knew that Carter was in Africa and didn't realize he had come back.......hmmmmm:confused3

thats what I was thinking, I couldn't remember if Dr. Ross was gone by the time carter went to Africa, or if he even knew he was in africa anyway. I stopped watching back when Carter met his wife in Africa,

Well, Women's World is wrong. It looks Abby is coming back next week from the previews.

Although I wanted Doug and Carol to know the kidney was for Carter, I thought the way it was done was very authentic. A transplant coordinator and doctor, who do this kind of thing routinely, wouldn't be asking who a kidney was for. I really liked the way they handled Doug and Carol's return by giving them a storyline instead of having them just pass through.

I liked the storyline too, and it was authentic ( FOR ONCE) on the show! not everything they do is, and sometimes that bugs the heck out of me!!

I would have thought they would have asked about Jerry and the 2 nurses that have been there forever. Can't think how to spell their names but I'm sure long-time viewers know who I mean.
It was a good episode.

yes, especially since Carol was the nurse manager of the ER!!! and both those nurses you are referring to have been there since the beginning

yes Carter has been there from the beginning

I liked the scenes with Benton too.
as for the big town, the medical community sometimes feels like a "small world" even in big towns, somehow we just know each other or know of each other. even in big institutions in big cities.

I don't get why everyone thinks Benton was being an ****** last night. He has always been a perfectionist and quite honestly, it was the surgeon who was the arrogant SOB. I would expect to doctor's to show professional courtesy and give more attention to colleagues. Benton's insistence that they go by the book, probably saved Carter's life.

It was classic Benton but it was unrealistic.
That surgeon was supposedly a top notch transplant surgeon, for him NOT to notice what Benton noticed from across the room is unlikely ( sure could happen) but not likely.
they made it look like Benton knew more than the transplant doctor.

I'd rather they just wrap up the story lines of the remaining cast members like Morris, Ray and Neela, and kind of end it with a "passing of the guard" to some semi-anonymous new people.

ITA with watching it and going out with the passing of the gaurds. Maybe they will do that. Show the cast members from the beginning....than show clips of the years past than have them say good buy and as they move on leave the hospital or stay with the passing of the gaurds...the same way they did years ago as the original cast members left.

I watched for years and years than it started to slow down. It's hard to replace the original.

Just like the show years before ER.....St. Elsewhere.....who remebers that show...it was a great show. Wonder what network will pick up a new Hospital show. I know we have the show "House" but that is not the same.

So the baby that came into the hospital last night....just a guess but who do you think will walk out finally with a baby:rolleyes1

If you recall from the original cast show when they were all together....Benton followed the book and he got on Carters case many times for wanting to cut corners, an Carter use to tease him about it and they made a big thing at times about it. That is IMO why they did that last night...

And that is why Carter looked at him and smiled.....because the other Dr. wanted to cut corners and Benton as usual followed protocol and Carter was very thankful for that when he was reading off the list and realized that he was thankful that Benton was the way he was because it was him lying on that table as the patient and realized he also does not, at a time like this, want a Dr. to cut corners with his life And if Benton was not who he was Carter would have died.

It was a story that they brought around full circle and brought it to an end.
I thought it was a great way to bring that problem to an end that they have had for years.....they disagreed for years on procedures...not just on cutting corners.

I was not happy with how they brought the others together..maybe next week will be better. And I hope they dont kill off Carter. A funeral with all of them together would be terrible. :scared:

I think however from what they showed last night they will be changing guards in a way because some hang there badges on the walls next to the old cast members. Either way I am looking forward to it.

I remember that show. It had Howie Mandel in it.

Changing of the guards sounds like a good way to go. I think we are finishing up Neela's storyline next week by watching the previews.

I enjoyed last nights episode. I smiled and LOL as Carter and Benton interacted...
I understood why Carol and Doug did not ask to who the kidney was going to be delivered... I thought for sure someone .. especially Carol would mention Jerry, Hillae and Chuney.. .please forgive spelling... They are still at County! even tho Jerry did venture to Alaska! ( and ABC) LOL

I think having Rachel Greene come to County as a medical student is a Fabulous conclusion. Changing of the guard... passing the stethascope to the next doc...

I am looking forward to Sherry Stringfield coming back.. Susan was always one of my favorite ER docs.

I remember St. Elsewhere... now that finale was odd... as in the end the entire St. Elsewhere story was in the head of an Autistic child... played by Chad Allen.

I am still not digging these cameos and still feel they are forced. Plus, the chemistry was SOOOOOOO not there between Doug and Carol last night. And Eriq LaSalle still cannot act!

"Got Disney" - yes, it is PAINFULLY obvious that Angela Basset will adopt or foster that abandoned baby. I'd have loved it if she went BSC and tried to smuggle it out under her jacket when she left for the night - just to add some lunacy to this show.

I disagree. I thought Doug and Carol had the right tone of a couple who have been together for years. But I did like how there was a little bit of doubt about whether they were still a couple with the question about how the girls were. I guess Doug just left before they were up that morning. It made me smile to see them together at the end.

As for Eriq LaSalle, he was the Benton he always was. I know more than one surgeon with the same "too cool" persona. I think LaSalle's portrayal is spot on.

I remember St. Elsewhere. Great show with a great cast. Who can forget the introduction of Denzel Washington to the world!:love:Anyway, I guess Greys Anatomy is the current ER. I don't watch the show, but that is my guess. They seem to be having a lot of problems though. I wonder if they will be around much longer.
