HI All, what are your thoughts? We have big group of us going to Epcot on New Years Eve. My plan is to be there at rope drop to ride Test Track and Soaring, walk around for a bit and then go back to the resort till about 3ish, then head back to EPCOT for the remainder of the night. Its been awhile, since we have done Disney during the mad holiday rush, but do you think we will be able to get back into EPCOT around 3 or 4? Or will it be closed off due to capacity?

Epcot has not "closed" due to overcrowding since 1999 into 2000 NYE.

Between traffic and crowds, it could take you up to 3 hours to get into Epcot from your resort at that time of day.

But, no, it won't close due to capacity.

If we are taking Disney Transportation, I still allow for an 60-90 mins with that, but are the turnstiles going to be jam packed as well around 3? like another 60-90 mins just to get into the park?

My experience was closer to 1pm, but, yes, it may take that long at the tapstiles.

I worked a 13 hour shift at Epcot this past NYE and our whole main entrance area was packed pretty much all day. Long lines for security, ticket booths, Guest Relations, main entry touchpoints... It was pretty nuts.

Thank you all for the reply. Its going to be fun with 19 of us. My wife and I are used to busy times, the rest of the family, not so much. I have been trying to prepare them, but I dont think they believe me.

It's going to be busy no matter what. I've heard some people have gone in the morning and spent 16 hours in the park just to make sure they're there. I went in college during break with my family one year and we made the mistake of taking a Disney transport bus. Traffic was horrendous. Def give yourself a lead time of a few hours. Epcot was absolutely packed everywhere you went, but it was a blast.

I didn't try this tactic myself, but maybe if you can find a way to Boardwalk, Yacht/Beach Club or maybe even the swan and dolphin and walking your way to the international gateway rear entrance, you wont have to deal with the crowds at the front of the park.

We were there this past NYE and arrived about 8:30am and entering was just like any other day. No long lines and traffic was light. We drive ourself though, so didn't have to deal with the nightmare of using Disney transportation on NYE.

You'll be fine entering Epcot whenever. It'll be packed all day but Epcot is so big you won't be shut out.

The long lines, long waits to get in, and phased closures will be going on at MK
