Epcot - lights in the concrete walkways??

I hope you can understand my question, but I recently read a trip report where the DISer saw lights in the concrete walkways at Epcot.

Can you tell me where this is?

You see them at night. I have no idea how it works...gotta be reflectors of some kind, I would think.

That's it.

IMO it's one of the things they could easily do to improve other areas. It is really cool at night, but very few people see them until they leave for the evening because of where they are. IMO they would be great in the World Showcase entrance area and in front of each of the FW buildings.

Are these lights motion-sensored? I thought I read somewhere that the lights only went on when you stood on them. Is there any truth in this?

No, you can see them from a distance without anyone being around them or on them.

I've seen them a million times and they never cease to amuse me.

It seems like that because the kids will want to stand on the lights, and in the time it takes them to step over there, the timing is such that the lights will briefly go out.

Although more out of the way, I think the lights just outside of the middle of Innoventions West are the most interesting, because they are arranged in specific patterns, and with more colors.

I have also heard that the lights are actually on all the time - they're just very difficult to see in the daylight. Not sure if this is just a legend or not.

The lights are not motion-sensored. They randomly change colors and fade on and off. They are very pretty and one of the things I remember loving about Epcot from the first time I went back in 3rd grade, when Epcot was new. Most of the other things I loved are gone now, but the pretty lights in the floor are still there when we are on our way out on tired feet at the end of a long day.

We liked the lights so well we created our own on a small walkway. It wasn't really all that hard, the biggest expense is the fiber optic cable itself.
