Just saw a tweet from WDW News Today that says along with a February ticket price increase will come the end of the non-expiring tickets. Current ones will be honored but no new ones sold.

Has anyone else heard this?

a lot of people assumed it was going to happen a few years ago, when they took the prices for the no-expire option off the website.

i doubt it will happen - they have already raised prices on the no-expire option till it's barely worth it - but you never know...

If true, it's sad. Remember when ALL Disney ticket media were good FOREVER? It made us feel like welcomed guests instead of just customers. If you bought a day's admission, it was valid until you used it. It was nice.

(Totally) Unused admission media being valid until you use it is not the same as no expiration.

They stopped offering it online because people did not understand the rule in the above post - that unused admission media is not the same as non-expiring admission media. Any multi-day ticket you buy does not expire until after it is first used. You only need non-expiring tickets if you intend to keep some of the ticket days valid for longer than 2 weeks after you first USE them (not buy them). A lot of buyers didn't understand this and bought non-expiring tickets when they didn't actually need them. So now you have to call to buy them, so the difference can be explained.

I don't know what WDW News Today is, but if it's an unofficial site/blog/service then I am not taking anything as true until it's announced by Disney itself.

Anyone know when to expect February price increase?

There is no set time for price increases.
They are generally announced on a given Friday and put into effect two days later.

I can tell you when last year's increase was (2-23-14,) but has little meaning as Disney has actually made ticket price increases
more than once in the same year... which means sometimes just a few months after the previous increase.

As to the "announcement," there may or may not be a price increase in February.
And, there may or may not be a discontinuation of "Non-expiring tickets" whenever the increase occurs.

We all just have to wait and see.

If true, this blows. It VERY much puts a wrench into our future plans (and part of why we bought DVC).

I'd not waste too much time worrying about it until we find out more.

I distinctly remember the overwhelming PANIC and ANGER that was caused when another website announced that discounted tickets would no longer be price-bridged when upgraded.

That info turned out to be totally false, but the furor the bad info caused here was astounding.

It's still worth it to us - 10 day non-expiring park hopper on Undercover tourist - $755 vs 3 - 3 day PH totaling $1049. (I know they are giving an extra day free on the 3 day PH, but we get 3 trips out of our 10 day ticket and would do 3 trips with the 3/4 days tickets.) We can add 10 non-expiring water park trips to that 10 day ticket for an extra $14.

Interesting - my DD and I will be at WDW on Sunday, using 10-day PH non-expiring tickets I bought a few years ago. I've linked these tickets to our MBs so it sounds like we'll be all set to use them until the 10 days are gone.

Related question - at the time, I pondered adding the Water Parks option to these tickets. Is this still an available option? I'd planned on checking in at the parks once we got in the gate to see if I could upgrade. Thanks!

yes, you can still upgrade tickets, as long as you do so within 14 days of the first use.

Thanks! From looking at the UT website, it looks like the 10-day park hopper non-expiring tickets are currently $755.01 and the same tickets with the waterpark option is $769.53. Assuming that price bridging works with these tickets, once we first use the tickets, we can upgrade them to include waterparks for an additional $14.52.

i think the price bridging is based on disney's prices, so i wouldn't do too much calculating based on UT's pricing...i'm not an expert, though.

Correct.

Compare the DISNEY prices to see the cost difference you'll pay for the upgrade.

There is a link for a site with this info HERE that says that their information comes from the site WDWNT.com.

The WDWNT site has the following disclaimer-

This is exactly what we do. If non expiring tickets go away, we will probably use our dvc as a low key vacation and pool/bar hop for a few years or rent it out. Maybe when we have grandkids will we buy tickets again. I think we have enough water park days to last us several years.

I wonder if it's going away because not enough people use it for them to offer it anymore. The same thing is happened with the split beds on the Disney Cruise ship the wonder is currently the only one to have them and even now those days are apparently numbered.

I think im could also be because people tour the parks differently then they used to and outside of boards like the Dis going to the parks more than once a yer is almost going to the way of the Dodo.

It's APs that generally involve visiting the parks more than once a year.
Non-expire tix can be used over several years.
