I will be on the 1/25/03 eastern Magic and I am considering purchasing the unlimited internet use package so I can keep in touch with my family and friends at home. I am not totally email literate and I need to find out if my email through ATT. net will be accessible if I am using the Magic's internet or do I have to set up another email account thru Yahoo.

Can anyone help me?

I have read that Disney charges for internet use and also charges a fee for each e-mail message. How can they tell if you send from an internet mail service like yahoo or hotmail?

When I sailed in August they had discontinued the unlimited use Internet package. You paid per minute.

If you send mail via the DCL account, you are charged for it. If you can access your ISP's email server through an Internet interface (many of the major ones have this...AOL, MSN, ATT, etc.) you aren't charged extra for it. I'd use it from home a few times to become familiar with it before you sail, and do'nt forget to LOG OFF!

We sailed on the 09/28/02 magic and we had the unlimited internet package for 89.99 for the week.

Anne,
Do you remember the charge per minute? I guess they have an unlimited pkg now but I want to leave the world behind! I just want to send a quick msg a couple times. Thanks Laurie

Pryd, Dave & Ducklite,

Thanks so much for the info. I will play around with my email account before I go and hope that DCL re-instates the unlimited use package before we sail.

The per minute charge is $.75 plus 25 cents per page if you print any pages.

Just on the Oct 5-12 Magic. I sent one email via Disney service, cost nearly 10 bucks to just figure out the system and type a few lines (8 minutes total). If you do any more than this the best is the package deal. They do have a list of the most common links to the email sites, but figured by the time I figured out why my private attbi would not go through or my exweb for work email I might as well use their mailer. The cost per their email is about $4-5 EACH plus the minute charge.

The unlimited access package was suspended briefly while the Internet Cafe was being remodeled. Now that the remodeling has been completed, the unlimited access package has been returned.

If you choose not to purchase the unlimted access package, the per-minute price is $0.75. This applies to all minutes that you are using the terminal even if all you're doing is reading or composing. If you anticipate spending just 20 minutes a day online, it will be a better deal to purchase the unlimited access package.

Regarding the extra fees for each email message, these fees only apply if you use an email address that's available to you for the duration of the cruise. There's no reason to use this ridiculously overpriced service when you can use a free email service like Hotmail or Yahoo! Mail.
