Email from Happy Limo about pick up scams????

Hi. I just got an email from HAPPY LIMO. IN fact I got three. One for each way MCO to WDW an WDW to MCO and the one that I thought was strange.

It said that their comptetitors try to get their clients into their town cars by saying they are from Happy Limo when they in fact are not... It goes on to describe their front license plates to look for to be sure you get into the right car! Good golly :earseek: Has anyone heard of anything like this before? I am a little worried because I will be traveling alone with my two little dd's by myself.

My guess is that I should just look for the driver carrying the sign with my name on it. The other shady companies couldn't possibly have my name, could they???

Upon your arrival at Orlando International Airport, your party will be greeted by our driver in the baggage claim area at the foot of the escalators next to the information booth. Our driver will be displaying a professionally made sign with your party's name on it. Our meet & greet signs have our log(HAPPY LIMO)) on them and thus are easy to distinguish from our competitor's signs. If you do not see your driver at the foot of the escalators, You MUST call us immediately!

Oh wow - hadn't ever heard of this. We used Happy Limo for our last family WDW trip & didn't have any problems.
 
I also got the same email last time I used them. It is just a heads up for you to make sure your getting the right company. There are alot of drivers at the bottom of stairs and Happy Limo does have their logo on the sign. I'm sure they have people getting wrong drivers becasue they were in such a hurry or had to much going on..grabbing suitcases and keeping kids together..etc

I have seen occasional reports of this happening with several companies. It can occur no matter which towncar company you use...there are unscrupulous drivers who will try to trick unsuspecting tourists. No matter which towncar company you are using, make sure they have your name and that they are the correct company, not a "gypsy" driver.

Yes. They could have seen it on the sign belonging to your real driver. My advice is to have the driver confirm where they are taking you. I would think only the company you reserved with would know that.
 
Thanks so much! You would think I would be a little tougher and smarter being a cops wife; but in the end I'm just a mom traveling alone! I'll be diligent and verify the resort, great idea TammyC!
 
They make announcements in the baggage claim area at MCO also about gypsy companies for transportation.
