My flight departing DFW moved from 7:00am to 6:30am :thumbsup2 Great for me since I love :lovestruc to start my vacations as early as possible (the family, not so much :confused3).

My flight departing MCO changed from 7:42pm to 7:59pm. Ok, the 12 minutes is no big deal, but this flight has a connection in ALT that I am not crazy about and now the connection time is shorter. There is a direct MCO to DFW flight that departs at 8:30pm that I'd rather be on and it is actually showing cheaper than the flight I am currectly on (not the case when I booked).

I would like to hear from any of you that have had luck with changing flights on AirTran when the times have changed. What process did you use? The email I received asked that I confirm the flight changes through a link in the email.

*** UPDATE ***
:cool1::cool1:Called AirTran and was moved the the direct flight. WHOO HOO!!!:woohoo: Love AirTran!

Thanks everyone - just wanted some reassurance before I called  Love the DIS too! :lovestruc

For all the negatives people give about AirTran, they have one of the most lenient policies on schedule changes and people selecting new flights.

Just call AirTran, tell them the new flight time doesn't work and you'd like to be placed onto the other flight. That's about it.

The only thing that you have to remember is that you will basically be losing a day if you switch flights. I'm not sure if this bothers you, but by the time we took ME to our resort it was past 9 pm and we were exhausted and paying for a hotel that we didn't really get to take advantage of that day.

On a side note- We took BA from Chicago to London one year and had a 45 minute layover before connecting from London to Edinburgh. Our travel agent told us it was plenty of time (we were skeptical). When we landed in London we had to go through customs from International and transfer to domestic. We had to take a 15 min bus ride to our building, then a bus out from our gate to the runway. We arrived at the plane just as they were getting ready to close boarding. I will NEVER again cut it that close! If you have more than an hour or two inbetween your flights, you should be fine. If less than that, I would change flights (if possible). Good luck!

I'd just call. If there's room on the flight you want, they'll move you.

As for the early morning flight, better you than me! I have to get up at 5:30am every morning and no way will I start my vacation doing that. Plus it's awful to get the whole family up and moving. We take flights no early than 10am. :rotfl:

The non-stop flight the OP prefers leaves even later than the original connecting flight going home.

OP - call AirTran, tell them the flight times changed and you don't like the shorter connecting time in Atlanta, and ask if they can switch you to the non-stop.

I got an email yesterday also about our flights and they had 1person on a flight with layover in atlanta :scared1: the rest of us were put on a nonstop flight home from mco.I called airtran last night and they were able to change us all to the nonstop flight :).So now we arrive an hour early and depart an hour later both nonstop:cheer2:.we payed 238 at original booking with layovers and now have nonstop flights that are priced at 442 rt.Good deal for us pixiedust: sending some maqgic your way op hope everything works out!

I had a thought. When we book connecting flights we are charged a fee for the connecting flight. What happens to those fees that we paid when we are changed to a non stop flight?
So if an airline resells the seat we gave up on the connecting flight they again will collect the connection fees thus double collecting on the fees.
I wonder what the government would say about this. I am sure that when they, the airlines, have to turn the money they have collected, over to the government its based upon the number of people who actually flew on that flight. So if 100 people actually flew but say 114 paid I bet they don't turn in the amt owed based on 114 people.

HUMMMM.....
