Hi all!

Well after 8 months of keeping it to ourselves, the children have finally been told about our Easter holiday trip. They'd given up asking after a few weeks of it when we got back from WDW, eldest can't believe we had this booked all along!

anyway... planning can get into full swing now, however I've already hit a stumbling block!

Checked Eiffel tower ticket prices and the date we wanted is already sold out! Can't believe we have this problem again - the last time was 2012 when two lifts were out of action and the queues were hours long so we just went for a boat trip from it instead! We'd be so disappointed to miss out again this time.

I've seen on other threads though that a lot of tickets get snapped up by tour operators. Can anyone recommend a reputable one that won't cost an arm and a leg?!

Many thanks in advance

Or failing that (as every one I've found so far is charging three times the general admission price for a 'tour') any tips on avoiding the crowds if we pay on the day. We're planning on going on Tuesday 31st March so before the french school holidays start but we are a party that includes 2 eight year olds, 2 six year olds and an 18 month old that doesn't care much for waiting hours on end (who does?!) so any lengthy wait will prove tricky.

I'e never booked in advance, just turned up and bought a ticket.

You could climb up the stairs to the 2nd floor and you can then buy a ticket from there to go up to the top but I don't know if the younger ones would be able to do it - you'd have to be carrying the 18month old but you would have to anyway as you can't take a pushchair up in the lifts and you don't want them squashed by the crowds packed in.

I'll have a look around for cut the line tickets but I think they will all be dear.

We are going in July and based on the recommendation of a friend, booking a Skip the Line Tour of the Eiffel Tower with Fat Tire Bike Tours (no bikes involved in the Eiffel Tower tour).

Thank you, these tours just seem so expensive compared to the entrance and I don't think it'd be worth it with the children, but I appreciate you taking the time to reply :)

Thanks Carrie! We queued when we went 'pre children' but that was such a long time ago now, I can't even remember queuing!

Thanks for the heads up about pushchairs, I didn't even think to check that! I don't suppose you know if they have storage facilities do you?

I think we're just going to have to go for it and hope for the best. It's just never worth paying such extortionate amounts for 'tours' when we have the children with us. And if the queues are long then we'll take the kids that are prepared to walk and leave DH at the bottom with any that don't want to (he won't mind! - I talked him into going to the summit last time and 10 years later he's still not over the ordeal! :rotfl:)

Keep checking back on the eiffel tower website, it was showing sold out for our full trip but today some spaces are showing as available again :)

You CAN take a push chair up, it just must be folded in the elevator. We were just there a week ago and I watched the video (while in line) on this and pick pocketing over and over for an hour LOL. The only place it could be open was on the 1st level, everything else was just too busy.

Oh that is good news :thumbsup2 When we went last it still wasn't allowed and there were a lot of upset people at the foot of the tower.

Thanks for the info :)

Keep looking every day at the Tower site. If you can, at 8:30 am (French time)... They don't release all tickets at the same time.
If not, you can get the tickets by some tour operators, but they're usually much more expensive...
Another option... The stairs... No queues for this option, and I'm sure it's fun for the kids (I did once, when I was younger), and once on the second floor you can buy your tickets to the third floor without problems.
