EBPC December 9, 2012!!! PART 2

How odd. Just clicked on this one, which had been sold out, and now it is showing availability. What's really odd is that it gives me the option to two times: 9:15 am or 10:45 am. Our itinerary, at least the last time I checked, had us going ashore at 10:30 am. How do we make a 9:15 am excursion unless they're planning on arriving early.

We booked Canopy Adventure and our reservation is for 9:45 a.m. I don't see an option to choose 9:15 or 10:45. Can you clarify as I don't want to show up at the wrong time if something has changed? Thanks!

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

ONE week from today, I will be on a plane, winging my way westward:dance3:

No Worries! You will have tickets waiting in your stateroom with the meeting place and time on them.

Off to get a haircut, pick up the print order Staples screwed up yesterday, make a nail appointment, do the banking, etc.

Happy Day, all!

When I checked it just now I have three options: 9:15, 10:15 and 10:45. Odd isn't it? :confused3

Woke up to the happiest thought ever this morning, Last working Friday till AFTER Christmas. This time next week, I will be boarding a plane to the West Coast! We solved our issue of how we were getting home from PHL on the 26th yesterday. We didn't want to pay for 3 weeks of airport parking so my co-worker/friend is dropping us on early on Friday morning but we forgot that they would be home in Hawaii for Christmas and all of our other friends aren't back yet so I was starting to panic. But a new co-worker overheard me yesterday and he will be working on the 26th and will be picking us up. He knows how to suck up!

Our second cruise thread has officailly surpassed the pages/post count of my April Fantasy cruise, we kinda had a disappointing group.

For the first time in my career, I have someone who reports to me and I had forgotten that I will need to find work for her to do while I am away for three weeks. Not sure what to do since I don't have time to explain anything to ther and I won't be able to check her work. Hoping to find 3 weeks worth of training

Do they have lemonade on the ship? I prefer vodka and lemonade personally.

They do have lemonade, it is minute maid at the drink station. Have you tried ice tea vodka (firefly) and lemonade? It is sooo yummy!

Box Wine Question

Don't laugh too hard but can anyone recommend a brand of box wine to buy? I usually drink red wines like Syrah or Cabernet.

Not laughing...when I talk to my DH this morning I'll ask him. He is kind of a wine snob but he would never admit it because he tries to find great wine at a reasonable price. Also on the boat bottles of wine take up space so he has tried several different brands of box wine and has declared one a good dinner wine. I know he has tried several varietals of it. Whatever brand it is you can buy at BevMo (Beverages & More). I have already checked and there is a BevMo 5 miles from the Vagabond.

In fact for those interested here are some distances from the Vagabond which is right next door to San Pedro Inn and not far from the Doubletree.

Target with Fresh Grocery 1.3 miles
1701 N Gaffey St
San Pedro, CA, 90731
(310) 507-6289

BevMo 5 miles
2533 A Pacific Coast Hwy
Torrance, CA

CVS .28 miles - they have reasonable prices on wine and hard liquor
700 S Gaffey St
San Pedro, CA

Costco 6.4 miles
2751 Skypark Drive
Torrance, CA

One more thing I like to take is a bottle of handsoap for the bathroom. I don't like using bars of soap that get the sink counter all icky. I use it for two weeks and then give it to the cabin steward when I leave.

Haircut appt made
Mani/Ped appt made
Play date with my girlfriend made

We leave one week from today also! We were not going to leave until Saturday but decided since we fly standby that we better go a day earlier and be on the safe side.

Today I will be on the phone with DH while he packs my suitcase since I wasn't planning on being at my son's this long. Thank goodness for 'Viva Mexico' and pray for patience!

Seems like a fair amount of us are flying out next Friday. We leave Pittsburgh at 3:30. It will be interesting how the jetlag affects us arriving in LA at 8:30 after 8 hours of travel. I am counting on adreneline to keep us going thru DL.

My sister is a Malibu and pineapple drinker too. I like mine with Coke though. And yes, Cruzan makes really good rum. We have always joked about the 'Why is the rum gone?' I have usually felt personally responsible but it sounds like I will have plenty of people to share the blame :lmao:;)
And just my $.02 on the wine issue (and feel free to think I am a little weird) I will be bringing some PA wines and here is why: If I stick with local wines, no headache the next day. Anything California or from out west, headbanging headache the next day. I'm not sure why, so I stick with local small winery wine.

JUST ONE WEEK!!!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Well, I have to work next Friday :(, but I've already had so much time off this year that I don't mind. Because of the two weeks that we were closed for Hurricane Sandy, I really feel like I just got back from vacation!

We fly out of Philadelphia at 7 AM on Saturday, which means we have to leave home no later than 3:15 AM. The good thing is that I'll be able to sleep on the plane since I'll be exhausted. DH can sleep anywhere, anytime, so he'll be just fine. We should be in LA by 1 PM.

I have to get everything done this weekend--packing, finish the ornaments for the exchange, make sure the house is basically clean, and get the Christmas tree up and decorated. My hair is done and I do my own nails so I don't have to deal with that.

I'm not particularly fond of rum, so you don't have to worry about me making the rum gone, but DH may be another story LOL!!!

Everyone else in the office is off today doing Hurricane Sandy recovery stuff, so today is my "play day". I can finally give this new computer a good workout!

Beth

Just a friendly reminder -- if you haven't had a chance yet -- would you please send Tammy your cabin number so she can update the FE list. Just my OCD kicking in and trying to finalize my FEs. Hahaha

Time is running out. :hourglass

Thank you!

Well at least PHL won't be busy that early, very short TSA lines, you should be through in 15 min. Your DH is like me, I can sleep anytime and anywhere! I once sleep through a 18 hr flight. I didn't even wake up when we landed/took-off in Seattle.

Just a reminder that the ornament must either be wrapped or in a gift bag for the exchange. You are not suppose to see what you are picking.

I'm updating the list...in fact it's almost done. ChipperMerlin (Shirley) will be at the M&G to take any last minute changes.

We are flying out early next Friday to Ontario, CA. Susan is doing at talk about NASA for her cousin's (teacher) elementary class in the afternoon and then we're visiting with her west coast family Friday night. We're transferring to an Embassy Suites near DL Saturday and plan to spend the entire day/night in the parks.

The stores in Torrance are in a good area. It's pretty much a shopping mecca in that area of South Torrance. The Target up the road in San Pedro is a so-so area, be aware of your surroundings. I would try to find another CVS or Rite Aid that had liquor, if you do go, be very, very careful. Not a good area.

So, the clerical strike is going on 3 days now. It shouldn't impact us, but it will cause the cargo ships to divert to other ports (Mexico, Oakland). The port may be quieter. Usually the strikes don't go on more than 10 days, but even then it will take a few days for the ships to be re-routed again.
Thoughts?

Sent out pm's (I know it's not proper English, but when I type it the right way it comes out as pms and that just seems...) for brunch confirmation and Costa Maya tour.

If you think you should have gotten one and did not, please let me know either via email or pm.

I've not been on at all (obviously) because of some not-so-good times here at the house of skoi, but have been following up/clarifying the arrangements for the brunch and tour.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Julie

Thank you for the info. So now I'm concerned .... is the Vagabond okay for two nights?

Box Wine Question

Don't laugh too hard but can anyone recommend a brand of box wine to buy? I usually drink red wines like Syrah or Cabernet.

So my DH said the 'Bota Box' box wine is quite good for dinner. He has only tried the Zin and Cab. One box equals about three bottles of wine.

Is it possible they do not have sulfites in them? The only wine I have successfully consumed without an almost instant headache are the local pretty much 'sulfite free' vintages.

You're making me nervous! (staying at the doubletree)

Cartagena private tour I just had a last minute cancellation. If you would like to go and have a party of 3 or fewer please pm.

I'm so jealous of those that are spending time in DL before the cruise. We are flying in the morning of the 9th and heading straight to the port. Haven't packed a thing, gotten ornaments, tagged fes, no liquor run, ........nothing!

we fly out Wednesday. I really thought we would be all packed up and ready, but that is far from true. We have a busy weekend for sure. I have to clean my house from top to bottom too. Having a friend house/dog sit and it's all messy. :confused3
