EBay - Need Help with Buyer Please

I'm not doing any more ebay selling because of stuff like this. I've NEVER had a negative feedback but some creep bought something from me. A month later, he claims he never got it and wants his $ back. I gave him the tracking info showing it was delivered to his home along with the date and time. He then CLAIMS he had to go to the post office and check the tracking and the post office had been holding it since I addressed it wrong. LIAR!! If it wasn't addressed correctly, it would have been shipped back to me not held at the post office.

This dirtbag gave me a "neutral" feedback claiming I didn't address his package correctly. Years with nothing but 100% positive feedback as a seller and a buyer. Now this!

ebay no longer protects the sellers ---- sellers are not permitted to leave negative feedback nor can we respond to feedback left for us. They will also freeze your paypay if a buyer claims they didn't get something and want their money back.

It's not worth it anymore. Not to buy OR sell!

Yes, I would call his bluff. Be very polite and tell him you will need to verify it is the correct phone by checking your documentation and then you will refund his money. I bet anything he will drop it.

OP, I'm glad you've contacted them in person - that was going to be my only tip. I'm a Powerseller and, *knock on wood*, have pretty good luck with buyers, but as with anyone I've had some bad apples. I have actually had relatively good luck as far as claims go and I think that has a lot to do with actually calling and speaking with people about my issues, rather than only communicating via email. I hope it all works out for you!

You can follow up to feedback left

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. It can be so frustrating.
I did want to say that I have had the Post Office mess up and mark things as delivered on tracking when they were actually sitting in the local Post Office.

Wow, very interesting thread and timely. My son and I were thinking about selling some old stuff on ebay. Now I'm wondering if its worth the risk and hassle.

He left a negative post for me but I cannot see where I can respond to it?

Thank you.

Go into your feedback. Like click on the number inside the parentheses. Go all the way down to the bottom of the page and it says Leave Feedback, Reply to feedback received and follow up to feedback left. Once you click on reply to feedback received it brings up your feedback comments and gives you a space to enter something. You don't get much room though

Thank you about where to Reply for feedback. Ill do that.

Well as we all knew ebay sided with the buyer OMG. So a damaged and bent phone with lotsnof knicks is on its way back to me. When I open and its not my phone am I really suppose to refund the money? What happens when I call ebay and tell them this is not my phone?

They were holding the money in my paypal account but have feleased it back to me I guess since Im suppose to give back.

What happens if I dont refund the money since not my phone.

Its bejng delivered UPS so I saw.

Thank you. So upsetting.

You can withdraw the money, but the terms of service for PayPal allow them to pull the money out of your bank account. So, in order to protect yourself, you'll need to close your bank account and you'll never be able to use ebay again.

When you receive it back, verify the serial number is the same as the one you sold. If not, call eBay again before doing anything else. Also be sure to add their user name to your block list for going forward.

Thank you both.
I really appreciate it.

So, when I get the phone and it is not the serial number, I should call ebay and let them know. Then do I tell them I am not refunding the money? Do they start a new process of investigation (although I know it is just prolonging this not that they will side in my favor).

Do I wait for ebay just to take the money out themselves.

I do not plan on selling any other items ever on ebay after this but where would I sell my kids college text books and other items? Just decide not to sell them?

Thanks so much!

Call eBay say you can prove this is not your phone. Depending on that outcome I will also call your phone company and report the phone as stolen so he can't use it. Do not do this unless eBay sides with the buyer because otherwise it will be hard to resell the phone once it has been reported stolen.

Thank you very much.
So, I can report the phone stolen, even though it is not activated by me any longer?
I think I should do that now since I am certain my phone won't be coming back to me and he may sell on his own?

If you can do this, that would be a great idea. My brother and I were talking about this the other day. eBay and Paypal are going to have to figure out a way to deal with this scam because it's turning off buyers...

Well technically he did steal it. Yes your company should be able to mark your phone stolen. I would wait until I see what happens because once you do it it is very hard to go back.

I'd report it as stolen now.
If the phone you get back isn't the one you sent, you'll be reporting it stolen.
If you do get back your phone, reporting it stolen won"t matter because it's broken and even if it's not, you don't plan on selling it again.

Thank you all for your help.

I've said this before but unfortunately the OP simply cannot prove that the phone she sent is NOT the phone that was returned. It's a he said she said situation. You and I know the truth, but there is no evidence that the OP packed up and shipped a different phone.

Also, reporting the phone stolen will not do anything. First of all, the phone is no longer on a contract so the phone company has no control over it. It's an old phone that they aren't responsible for anymore. It would be incredibly irresponsible for a company to lock a phone that is no longer associated with your account or on their network. Secondly, I assume it was factory reset before you sold it, so the phone is not associated with any iCloud account so Apple can't do anything. Finally, the buyer has had that phone for how long now? At least a week? That phone is long gone in my opinion. Either out of the country or already in use. The guy knew exactly what he was doing.

Sorry I can't be more positive, I just know how these things go. Good luck though, maybe ebay will help you since he has an established pattern.
