Euhmmm can anybody tell me what the secret Mickey things is???

My boys missed the first 2 weeks of school for the EB Panama. We registered them late when we got back. 2 weeks later the middle school bumped my 6th grader to Honors Math, Science and English. Report cards came out this week and they are both on A & B Honor Roll. I chose this cruise because it is at the end of the year after all their testing for promotion is completed. They will be in 7th and 5th Grade and I understand that taking kids out of school is a very personal decision, but you know more than anyone what your kids can handle. I took some flack, but I know what I am providing to my family and I can take it:wizard:

We are going to take Spanish lessons over the next year as a family, so I am excited!:wizard:

Totally agree :thumbsup2 I'm brining my DS 10 who will be in the 5th grade, but not my DD 13 who will be in 8th grade. He can do it, for her it would be hard. My son is in his 4 year of dual immersion study half day English half day Spanish. I'm happy to say that he is fluent and I love to travel to Spanish speaking places with my kids since they will get out and talk for DH & I went we need them too :goodvibes (DD had 5 years at the same school)

It's sort of like a Secret Santa thing. DISers often do them on cruises. Participation is completely voluntary. If you decide you want to participate you will get the name of a fellow cruiser. You then, without them knowing, surprise them with little things throughout your cruise. Near the end of the cruise everyone reveals themselves to their "Secret Mickey". It's lots of fun.

Okay, so I had some free time. What do you think?

We can use it to keep track of planning (Secret Mickeys, group activities, meets, etc.) and for information on each port. They had one for the Eastbound Panama Canal cruise and it was a great way to keep track of all the information without having to wade through the Cruise Meet thread.

Disclaimer...I had some free time and was just playing around. If somebody else is already doing this I apologize.

What about "Pirates of the Spanish Main"?

What about "Pirates of the Spanish Main"?

Anything is fine with me. I was just using a previous suggestion. It is easily changeable once we come up with a permanent name. I have no preference so everybody decide and I'll adjust accordingly!

Love it!!! :rotfl2:

Welcome CraftyMouse!!! Thanks so much for volunteering to be the list keeper! What you have set up looks fabulous!!!

Thanks for sending your info. I'm a really good organizer and am happy to do whatever needs to be done. I usually don't join in too much on cruises, as they are primarily family time, but this cruise is different. With such a long sailing and all of those sea days it will be fun to get to know everyone. I'm really looking forward to it.

The Spanish Main was the mainland coast of the Spanish Empire from the 16th to the 18th century. It included Florida and parts of the Caribbean. (Thanks to Wikipedia)

I thought it fit well.

I read your comment on it the first time, but thought I'd add that before that I never heard it. I think LOTS of us have heard of

Okay, I've added those who've PM'd me. As far as ages to, let's make it age at the time of the cruise. That will make it easier, particularly when we're dealing with the kids. A year or two can mean the difference between being in one club or the other so it would be better, I think, to do it as of the day we sail.

Thanks for the positive feedback. This is fun!

Oh...and feel free to provide only the information you feel comfortable with. I can leave blank spots for any information you don't want to provide.

I just added some Gibraltar info. Just click on Gibraltar under Ports and it should open in a new window.

I forgot to tell you when I last PM'd you with info to update the cruise website that Lester and I are on Main dinner seating. I forgot about that column.

CraftyMouse...the site looks GREAT !! It will be so much fun looking at this over the months ! Having so many sea days, it will be especially nice to have friends all over the ship !

I'll be happy to answer Barcelona questions to those going there for the 1st time. We spent several days there prior to our last DCL Med cruise. It's a great city. So much to see and do ! :cheer2:

Is anyone interested in doing any scrapbooking at sea ?
