I'm up for fish exteenders!

Sukie has been talking about going to Barcelona for years. We have not extended our stay yet, I'm pretty sure we will. My major concern is time off from work.

Although who knows what will be going on a year and a half from now.

We're having the same kind of concerns. DH and I aren't sure what the work situations will be like, though I would LOVE to spend some extra time in Barcelona or hop a train to Paris!

I was thinking... last time he was on... so I hope that Ducky is on this cruise too... Better chance of winning again!!!

Did you win one last time? I won a drawing of the Tramp at the lecture I attended. I never win ANYTHING, so I was in complete shock when they called my raffle number! I need to find a frame for the sketch though- it's an odd size! I'd love to include it in the nursery for the new baby.

I'm thinking we need to add on too, of course my plan is to have Molly and Paul meet us there and have some family time to enjoy Spain. We'll see

Okay...so today I was telling DD16 about the website and the "Nobody Expects the Spanish Inquisition" thing. She looked at me and said, as only a 16 year old can... ..."Mom...it should be called "Nobody Expects the Spanish Reposition!"

So...what does everybody think? Personally, I think it's brilliant...but she' my daughter.

Ian - I sent you an PM about me extending my stay...what a mess. I talked to Quentin and he thinks it might be just as well not to do air through DCL since we might want to hop to another country before going home. The kids would love Rome or Paris. I checked the train ride for 2 adults, 4 kids from Barcelona to Paris - $744! Not bad. You leave at 9pm, arrive at 9am. That would be great. I figure if we take the energy (and fun but you know with kids it is always energy) to get to Europe, we might want to hit one more country before heading home. We are now contemplating making it a 3-week vacation...just need to figure out school.

Funny how those 2 weeks trip morph into 3 or more....We travelled to London summer 2006 for a family wedding, MIL offered us Chunnel tickets to take the kids to Paris , then I figured we were allready so close, so why not go to Barcelona It really isn't that close you know. Of course this was the trip that Wilson developed chicken pox 2 days prior to departure (with the doctors ok, we still went) then Molly got her pox in Paris. What a European adventure. I think the worse part was that Wil got a case of the runs that lasted 5+ days. Poor kid, at 6 years old we had to diaper him when we were on flights and trains just in case. Bless his heart he never had an accident and Paul knows all the best (& worst) WCs in London & Paris. Did you know you have to climb a lot of steps to reach the WC at the Eifel tower Why oh Why do I want to travel Europe again with small(ish) children???? For the record the kids loved that trip and for sure are still wanting to travel and see the rest of the world, so we did something right

My BFF Carmene was over tonight with her 2 year old that will be going on the trip with us...I forget what work little kids are! I had my kids when I was in my early 20's and we traveled a ton but we seriously had a lot more energy then than we do now! I figure my kids will be 15 & 12 they can be in charge of entertaining the 3 year old on the flights

We would love to participate in FishExtenders and the kids love Secret Mickeys. I think the FishExtenders were a huge highlight of the EB Panama Canal cruise. We were constantly getting new gifts and the kids loved it!

When are you expecting? That is very exciting. I checked out the train schedule....leave 9pm Barcelona, arrive via train at Paris at 9am! Could be fun. Sleeper train. Price for a family of 6 was $744.

Yes, that seems to be the case - although it really doesn't make much sense and the agent did not tell me that my airfare price would change. If you had the $1000 price, it wouldn't change it you added a hotel stay. So not sure why our prices should change? The negotiated rate is what it is - and it is not based on any actual fares out there since you can't book that far out. So changing a day shouldn't change the rate. Anyways, I'm finding it really hard to believe we will want to fly home on the 24th...seems like we made it all the way there, we should see some sights. School is the main challenge. Not sure how they would take to 3 weeks off...I'm really hoping their spring break is the week of April 12.

yes, and we gave him a children's verison of that when it started, but it didn't stop it. It was really kinda scary being in a foreign country and not having what we are so used to having at home at our fingertips. The have hydrocorisone cream behind the counter in UK, Paul and had swear on his life that he wouldn't overdose the kids on it.

Molly was luckier than Wilson, her chicken pox was worst when we were at Dland Paris, concierge. She had 4 oatmeal baths a day and tea and toast on demand. She was so fatigued by the fever we pushed her around Dland in a stroller, mind you she was 9 years old at the time.

I think I need to go find those pictures, it really was quiet funny thinking back on it. Yup, mean mom here
