Eating in the Lobby while at BCV?

Eating your danish in the lobby doesn't bother me, but leaving your paper plate on the table does.

For all those who want to be stuffy and not see anyone barefoot and eating a bagel in the lobby there is a place for you. It's called the Yacht Club. :thewave:

I reported in my op of seeing the coffee pots in the lobby, and they were not from guest rooms, but the kind you would receive if you ordered room service. It did not look to me that guests were bringing food to the lobby to eat, but were purchasing the food from the breakfast bar area and dining in the lobby which I personally do not have a problem with, because if they serve it there, it must be intended to be eaten there.

I did not see unattended plates or litter stewn about. There are very few trash receptacles located in the lobby and for all we know, CM clean up could have been encouraged or implied.

Yes people should clean up behind themselves, I totally agree, but Im getting a visual of barefoot guests eating poptarts and fruit loops, drinking coffee out of a glass coffee pot in the BCV lobby, and that is not what I witnessed at all! Now that is one's choice if they want to do that, but not what I saw.

I wonder where those kind of carafes are coming from? Are people having room service delivered there? Bringing their own carafes from home? Not that this is important in the least but I'm curious.

For what it is worth, I didn't see any of this in May.....not even anyone sitting in the lobby eating much less trash.

Also LIFERBABE, how recently did you see breakfast available in that little area?

I didn't notice if there was breakfast available behind bell services as some of you have mentioned. If that is the case, then it makes sense that people might choose to eat in the lobby.

But, I did actually see wrappers, napkins and paper cups on a few tables that someone had left behind after eating. In fact the table in the seating area just outside Cape May's had wrappers from someone's breakfast.

I do believe that people should take care of their own garbage.

I guess that my first impression was...surprise. Not what I expected for an "upscale" (lack of better words) resort. Most people probably do treat they lobby with respect, as well as other places. Maybe I was just unfortunate enough to be there on a day when there were a couple of people around that don't have the same respect. I didn't ruin my vacation any, but it was something that caught us off guard.

Resort snob? I know I am. I love BCV and BWV. Add some villas at YC and I will be first in line.

BCV23, I can tell you the exact date, because it was our checkout day after a 12 night stay at BCV. It was Friday June 10th.
I attended the managers breakfast hour next to Ariels for a nice FREE continental breakfast, where I was asked by several department heads how I enjoyed my stay at BC/BCV. It was nice to be able to give KUDOS directly to CM's bosses (which I did for Dolores at B&C) and I also mentioned the slow/no response we received when calling HK for requests and the early SAB pool hours.

I believe the coffee carafes are sold at the breakfast bar or maybe came out of Cape May. I could see someone flying in from a long flight whose room was not going to be ready until after 4pm requesting and receiving a pot from the kind CM's at WDW. Plus Im sure they paid for it! LOL!

I was kind of surprised to see that little bar area open, because the Marketplace was open too, so I thought that was built to address that situation, but I guess not. CMay is a tough ressie on any day and maybe some declined walk ups decided they had walked enough and they needed breakfast! The lobby was bustling with all the check outs/in, diners, etc.

Thanks, LIFERBABE. I didn't mean an exact date. I just wondered if the reports were before my experience in May when I didn't think that area was open. I either somehow missed that it was still serving or it reopened.

Lesli, too bad about your experience. Hopefully, it was an isolated incident.

DH and I have often sat in the lobby drinking our tea and sometimes having a coffee roll or bagel but always clean up after ourselves. I could not imagine people leaving their trash behind but I could also not imagine parents letting their children jump and climb on the furniture in the lobby either. I guess it all depends on how people are raised and how they raise their children. Annmarie

LIFERBABE - I wonder if we saw each other at the manager's meeting? DH and I went to it as well. It was a very nice touch and we very much enjoyed meeting the managers and giving praise about YC & BC. I would have asked about the eating in the lobby and trash left behind, but I didn't see that until the weekend.

But, I do rest assured that the managers at this resort want to do their best to provide a comfortable atmosphere to their guests.

We were at BC in June also. We ate our breakfasts in our room or the terrace outside Marketplace. I saw the people eating in the lobby and it didn't bother me. The ones sitting in the window though seemed a little out of place. But late in our visit we had come desserts from Marketplace and ate them in the Solarium. What a beautiful room to relax in! No one else was there. When we were finished, my 10 yr old DD picked up the plates and such and put them in the trash. No hinting from me. It's just the way we have taught her. You leave things the way you find them. If I am at a restaurant there is a tip for them to bus a table. When I bring food to a table or lobby, then I put away the trash so they next person can enjoy it as much as I did. Sometimes it's nice to think of someone else's need besides your own. end of soapbox.
p.s. just got our DVC papers in the mail today for SSR. We're excited.
