Eat, Run and Celebrate- Day 7- Last Day and New Orleans

Love the gorilla pictures! They are my favorite. Lily is a cutie. Your pics are great. My DH has a new camera and he is ready to take pics our next trip. That would be in 48 days!!!

Yeay for morning giraffe pics! Love the one where it is playing peek-a-boo! :goodvibes
I think of you every time I see them. :goodvibes

I can't say enough how much I  my new camera. :cool1: for 48 days

Has anyone seen the new Werther's Original commercial? The first shot looks like it is right outside Karmel Kuche.

Either that or I am Disney dreaming again. :lmao:

Full of Egg Roll, and having my fill of screaming kids I go to the shop by Kali and Y & Y.
I browse the shop.

I pass by the monkeys and get this shot.

IMG_0922.jpg

For Marv and Glenn.

IMG_0923.jpg

No wait for EE.

IMG_0924.jpg

IMG_0925.jpg

Apparently I escaped in the nick of time.

IMG_0927.jpg

I stopped and watched the monkeys for a while.
There was a new baby.

IMG_0928.jpg

This was the big sister.

IMG_0931.jpg

Mom and Dad.

IMG_0932.jpg

While the girl plays.

IMG_0933.jpg

I think mom might have some Michael Jackson in her.

IMG_0937.jpg

I thought she was going to swing the baby “over the railing”

IMG_0938.jpg

IMG_0939.jpg

During this time the big sister monkey was all over the tree and structure. She would climb up high and then drop back down to the bamboo rails. It was a bit scary watching her fly through the air. The CM at the little cart across from the enclosure said she always does this and is very active. The dad watches her most of the time because of the baby. I think the big sister is a bit jealous.

I watched them for about 15 minutes.

I cruised back by Yak and Yeti and thought it was time for a bit of the hair of the dog.

I had wanted to try a Yak attack but wanted to be sure I didn’t yak in the process. :lmao:

I go back to the window on the side of the counter service and its closed. Oh No – Had I missed my chance?

I went up to the CM cleaning the area James and ask if the window is closed. He tells me to go inside to Yak and Yeti and tell the bartender Ethan that James sent you and for him to make me a Great Yak attack.
I comply and sit at the bar. I get my Yak attack.

IMG_0940.jpg

He gives me a menu and I just order some plain brown rice. I got a huge bowl and ate most of it.

I look around while I sip.

IMG_0941.jpg

I enjoy my drink and my rice and the atmosphere in Yak and Yeti. I settle my bill and walk back towards the safari. I had a FP and entered through the FP line. However there was no line and no one at the place where the lines merge. So I kept my FP. I got further in the line and then we stopped. I heard an announcement about an animal or animals being on the tracks. I wondered if that was a standard announcement when things stop or if this happens often enough for a pre-recorded announcement.

Just wait here and the animals should move shortly.

Cute pictures of the little hairless one. I read that a baby okapi was just born and will hopefully be out in December. I believe this was at Kidani, rather than in AK. I'd love to get a glimpse of him/her (can't remember).

I have not been inside Yak & Yeti yet. I have had the counter service, but I want to go inside for the bigger menu and picture-taking one of these days.

I think it was worth going inside for the Yak Attack, just for the presentation! Much better than a plastic to go cup.

Super cute pics of the baby!

Great update, Pat. Great pictures of the hairless baby monkey and family. That drink looks awfully yummy. :goodvibes

I can't wait to go baby hunting ( with my camera) in a little more than 6 weeks. :cool1:

Neither of my kids are big Asian food eaters, so maybe a girls trip to eat at YAk and Yeti.
It was nice to sit inside and get some of the atmosphere without having to eat a big meal.

Then I am glad I had to go inside.

Super cute pics of the baby!

The whole family was a hoot to watch.

That was the most time I have watched the monkey family. THey were all so active and the little girl was all ove rthe place, like a preschooler, so it kept me entertained.

The drink was yummy and will stay on the list of AK drinks.

So maddening when this happens.

dup post. :)

So I guess I should use it as an update :)

We were waiting in line while the animals moved to get our safari on again. Eventually we started to move and I boarded my safari vehicle.

IMG_0948.jpg

I finally was able to get a decent picture of the whole sign.

IMG_0953.jpg

If you look carefully, you can see the baby elephant.

IMG_0955.jpg

I also was able to sort of get a picture of the gate you go through when you start chasing the poachers.

IMG_0959.jpg

As I exit I realize the delay in boarding caused me to miss the entire parade. I was hoping to catch a part of as I exited the safari.

It was probably close to 4:30. I was hot and decided to head back for a swim to try to cool off a bit.

But I had one stop to make first.

Through Mombasa marketplace.

Remember these.
IMG_0462.jpg

IMG_0463.jpg

FINALLY they are mine.

I make it back to ASSp

These were waiting for me.

IMG_0960.jpg

I forced myself to go to the pool to try to cool off.

P9285796.jpg

I took pictures of the pavement.

P9285795.jpg

Then I put the camera away. I went over to the pool to cool off and as I eased myself in I realized that the water must have been 90 degrees. Not refreshing at all. I stuck it out a bit, watched the scavenger hunt that was going on and tried to recharge my batteries. As I got out the slight breeze felt good and that cooled me off. I was charging my battery for the other camera so I really wanted to give it a chance to charge.

I took my time getting ready made it out to the bus stop. I decided to wear the sundress. I was hoping I would feel cooler in the dress since it was still hot out.

I opted for my croc flip flops since the dress would look odd with my sneakers. ;)

IMG_0961.jpg

If you look in the background you will see the background is sort of dark. I am at the bus stop when another family comes up. It was mom, dad and at least one kid. Apparently the older son was going to DTD on his own. Dad made some comment about he thought they would be together. Been there.
As we are waiting it is getting darker and darker. I can see the cloud rolling in. Here I am in a dress as the wind picks up and it is going to rain.

A couple of rain drops and the bus arrives. We board and I look out the window. MONSOON. We got on in the nick of time. The Dad from the group notices and I tell him it waited for us to get on the bus before it started. I told him I have luck like that.

We talk a bit more back and forth about playing the lottery and luck. I explain the weather superpower I have and checked the radar on my phone since the question of “Is it raining at DHS? “ came up. The radar looked like an isolated storm that was on the AK side and another storm was on the northeast side of the property. I told him we should be in the clear.

Sure enough it was not raining when we arrived at DHS. As we exited the bus, I yelled back to the Dad- “See I told you, no rain. My luck. By the way – if your son went to DTD it might be raining” He replied “ if all is right with the world, it will be “ Ahhh teens, I know them well.

I make my way to the entrance.

IMG_0962.jpg

IMG_0963.jpg

I go through bag check and greet BO.

IMG_0964.jpg

You stay here and chat with Bo and I will be back to get you.

Love the monkey pics. When we went last September, my DH went to "work" (visiting Orlando-area clients) while I stayed at AK alone. I spent a long time watching the monkeys. There was a baby at that time. I wonder if she is now the big sister.

You have some weather luck!!

Glad you got the sundress and mugs.

What ARE those things in your window?

She might be the big sister now. I did not ask the CM how old the big sister is.

You have some weather luck!!

Usually if I have good luck somewhere down the road it evens out. However not being poured on was great.

Glad you got the sundress and mugs.

I was going to get them, the only question was going to be when I would get them.

What ARE those things in your window?

:lmao::lmao: I tried to figure it out but... I'm not sure. :lmao: I couldn't figure out the letters either. :confused3

Well, I am going with shrimp.

Named Earl and Albert.

and Albert has googly eyes.

There. Mystery solved.

:rotfl2: Love this picture!

I also love the pictures of the baby monkey......so cute!

I like that one too- I am seconds away from being clawed by the Yeti.

That momma monkey looked like she was going to swing that baby over the bamboo so we could get a better look. YOu can see she only had 1 hand on that baby. :scared1:

There you go. Mystery solved. :lmao::lmao: I think I took one off the ledge to look at it but the next day the maid put it right back in the window so I left it. :lmao:

I didn't know you had such great weather mojo Pat. I guess I need to hang out with you at Disney. :rotfl:

Fun Update. I'll be back to see your pictures because the Yak Attack and the baby monkies sound intriquing (in that order!) ;)

Ah - teenagers. I wonder how much time Nick (17) will spend with us on our December trip. I know he'll show up for the food, but beyon that......:confused3

3-day weekend = LOTS of TR updates to catch up with!

Nice gorilla pictures! That's about all I have to say about that. :rotfl2:

So glad you didn't Yak over your drink. I have to admit, the word "Yak" in the title makes it hard for me to stop in there.

EE and Safari with no lines = WIN. Although I'm surprised you had to deal with poachers on your safari. You'd think Disney would be more vigilant on their animal lands.

FINALLY! You got the skirt and mug! I can climb down from the edge of my seat! :rotfl:

I'm going to trust that it was the EE shrine picture that was for me and Marv, not the monkey picture above it.

I liked what that dad said: "If all's right with the world, it will be" (raining at DHS).

And yes, I noticed your little post at the bottom of the last page so that your chapter would be at the top of this one. Nice!

:yay:Yay you bought your dress and mug!!

I have never been in the shop near Yak and Yet. I may have to do that next week! ;)

Wow, I didn't know they had moved the Cars topiaries to DHS.
