So, the rest of November looks like this... not that exciting.

Next week (14-20):
- French Onion Soup
- BLTs and Chips
- Chicken Dijon, Angle Hair Pasta, Roasted Asparagus

Following week (21-27):
- Snacks and Apps
- Thanksgiving: Turkey, Green Bean Casserole, Family Recipe Stuffing, Cornbread Dressing, Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Cranberry Sauce, Rolls, Pumpkin Pie, Peanut Butter Pie
- Leftovers... LOTS of leftovers haha.

Yea, that Thanksgiving Dinner is for 3 people... Mom and I will literally eat on that for a week or so before we get bored. Amazingly, we usually finish just about all of it. I'm going to reduce the cornbread dressing recipe some and make just 3 servings of the sweet potatoes. Everything else I LOVE as leftovers.

Same here, cooking the whole Thanksgiving feast for just me, and DH...and my brother may show up.

Turkey
stuffing
gravy
goat cheese mashed potatoes
sweet potato and apple au gratin
green bean casserole
cranberry sauce
rolls w/butter
pumpkin pie

Since I cook a 12 pound turkey, I divide turkey into portions and freeze. We eat turkey dishes for one or two straight weeks....try not to waste anything!

Just finished grocery shopping for the week. So when you shop do you shop day by day or for the week like I do? I don't get some items though until they are needed like fresh produce such spinach leaves or avocados. We tried the "as needed" plan, but with numerous trips to the store it was too easy to pick up just one little extra and blow our budget so we went back to week to week shopping.

So here is this week's meal plan:
Sun - grilled steak, baked potatoes, baby field greens salad, bananas with caramel sauce
Mon - chicken and noodles, mixed fruit
Tues - salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, sweet peas
Weds - carne guisada, mexican rice, tortillas, beans
Thurs - leftovers or grilled cheese or quesadillas and tomato soup (if there aren't leftovers as we take those for lunches)
Fri - barbecue chicken pizza with carmelized onions and cilantro
Sat - chicken fajitas, guacamole salad, Texas style spicy cut corn

~Happy Cooking!~

Friday-

Chips
Carrot Sticks

I do grocery shopping for the whole week. Those day to day stops for a few items are what DH says will "nickel and dime us to death." :lmao:

I took today off to be with my Veteran just to let him know that he will forever be my hero...

Be sure and thank a veteran today....

Aww. I saw a vet and his family coming out of the airport the other day with his tiny daughter carrying a sign that said welcome home, Daddy. I didn't want to intrude on their family time, so I had a sudden moment of shyness when I started to roll down my window to say thank-you. Then I went all gushy and had a good cry in my car. So tell your vet for me that I said "many thanks!"

Thank you, I will tell him, and I understand what you mean, sometimes when I see our soldiers, I just nod my head and mouth the words Thank You, I think it means all the world to them to just to be noticed and acknowledged, but I have cried many times, when I see families reunited after a deployment.

Tonight will be Tilapia Meuniere with Vegetable Rice Pilaf.

I'll be working on the rest of my November menu today as well as starting December. I decided to do a little trick to make it more interesting for me. December recipes all have to come from cookbooks. January is all from online. February is all from magazines. I'll mix those in with a few "home" based recipes (like my boyfriend's mom's Chicken Spaghetti). I think it will be fun and a challenge!

Oh, and I have a new bread machine cookbook that I am going to try to use weekly!

What a great idea for your recipes! I am going to think about joining you. I am just such a creature of habit that I might get scared to try new recipes.

I am doing a pantry/freezer week! I only spent $20 this week in fresh fruit/vegetables.

Sunday-Sweet and sour meatballs, rice, green beans
Monday-Shrimp Alfredo, salad
Tuesday-Grilled chicken, zuchini and tomato kabobs, rice, french bread
Wednesday-Spaghetti and meatballs, salad
Thursday-Tuna melts on pumpernickle bread, apple and pear slices, carrot sticks

I am crazy-busy doing book revisions this week, so I have made some food on the weekend and we'll be eating a lot of leftovers during the week. I made polenta lasagna (you slice a package of prepared polenta into circles, use that instead of lasagna noodles, top with a tomato sauce, cooked mushrooms, onions, kale, spinach and a vegan "cheese-type" sauce made with cashews, nutritional yeast, etc.) yesterday, and we ate some for supper (with a salad) and packaged the rest up and put it in the fridge. Today I made a vegan version of "bubble and squeak" (sauteed onions and cubed sweet potatoes, added half a head of shredded cabbage and some fake ground meat plus a quarter-cup of vinegar, let it simmer a bit on the stove and eat), and again we've put some away for the week. My son is also making black bean burgers that we'll have for another meal.

Welcome..... you have started out nicely...

Tonight we're having breaded pork chops, scalloped potatoes, and something green. For dessert we're having brownie bites.

I started using e-mealz.com a few months ago. It has helped keep me on track, given me new recipes, and saved my budget. We have plenty of leftovers so I may only pick 5 or 6 menus per week to cook. Plus we still like to go out every once in a while.
