I am heading your way again! Dec. 9 -12, my DH, MIL, FIL, and myself are heading to NYC (adult only trip). I would love to meet up with everyone but we probably won't arrive until noonish on Sunday if flights cooperate, and we will mainly be there during the week which I know is a little awkward for most! What are some must sees at Christmas time.

I am the only one out of the group that has been before but never during Christmas time, so we are doing some normal sight seeing too. We are staying on Times Square at Doubletree. One day we are planning on going to see the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero/Memorial (need to order tickets), and Wall Street (my DH the financial advisor wants to see this) since they are fairly close together. One evening we plan on going to Broadway, and getting tickets out of the booth which is directly in front of our hotel (so what we see may be a surprise??). One evening we plan to go to Rockerfeller Center and to do the Christmas light walk http://gonyc.about.com/od/christmassights/l/bl_xmaswindows.htm

Any other suggestions? We may do the Empire State Building? We do want to go to Central Park and will probably do the pedicaps. Are there really any must see Christmas Lights in Central Park, or can we do this during the day time? We have seen the rockette Christmas Show at Branson, Mo which is supposedly very similar to NYC's show?? I think we may eat at the Ellen's stardust diner, any other recommendations that aren't crazy expensive?

There is a wonderful outdoor seller mall behind ny public library. They create an ice rink too. The crafters sell their creations. So nice. Tons of fun. Nothing like the radio city Christmas show though. Also the windows should be decorated along 5 th ave in the department stores. Go to serendipity for frozen hot chocolate! You must go to the new York Disney store. They sell merchandise with NYC logo. Have fun:santa:

I love the Disney Store, we are staying very close to it!! :thumbsup2 Will have to look into serendipity and the ny public library stuff! I think the fifth ave dept stores should be covered in that Christmas light walk??

ETA: I think Serendipity should be fairly close to Bloomingdale's, when we go on the walk. Does that sound right?
Also is it Bryant Park, behind that Public Library? Is that the area you mean?

ACK, wish it wasn't during the week! I'll have to see what the plans are at that point, we will be in full on Disney packing mode.

I saw the Christmas show at Radio City, and it was awesome!! Worth the trip to me, just because it's Radio City.

A must eat for us is Les Halles in the Financial District (15 Johns St). Their Steak Frites is awesome!! And super inexpensive by NYC standards.

I know during the week is bad for meeting people, and I understand. These were the dates that worked best with airfare prices.

We will have to check out the restaurant on our day we are in that area. :thumbsup2

I totally get it! The Airfare to anywhere in NE is crazy.

I'll have to see if we could possibly swing a quick meet. That would be fun!

what a fun trip Michelle!

definately eat at Ellen's such a fun place....Buffy and her DH took us to Les Halles, one of THE BEST steaks I've ever had!

do you and your MIL like tea? on the west side of the Museum of Natural History is a cute little tea place called Alices Tea Cup at 102 W 73rd ST
