EARLY ROLL CALL....September 18, 2005 on Disney's Wonder (4 day cruise)

Here in NC, the gas was $2.55 yesterday morning. By last night, it was $2.69. Today it is $2.99! Yikes! I also rec'd an email about low gas supplies and that stations may run out. I plan on watching the news in a few minutes to see if that's true. Amazing!
My TA called to say my docs are on the way ! :cool1:

Excellent.
Maybe DW and I will run in to you and your DH on the cruise. We can reminisce about Caniglia's or the Ranch Bowl.
I'll really show my age and say that we can reminisce about Peony Park as well! I can't wait! I'm sooooooooooo excited!

Still no documents for us. When should I begin to worry?

Pirate night? There's a pirate night on the cruise? Okay folks, I guess I'm clueless, somebody fill me in on all these special things!

Oh yes I do remember Peony Park. The Galaxy Roller Coaster and The Sky Diver Faris Wheel were my favorite. We called DCL and they said 2 weeks before the cruise.

From what I have read, Pirate night will be on the same night we leave Castaway Cay.

Hmmm... I thought Pirate Night was on the Nassau night and the semi-formal night was CC. This is my first cruise though so I can be totally wrong! I am just so excited to be going!!! :cheer2:

I did a search in the forum for pirate night and I seen where some people had it on Nassua night and others had it on Castaway Cay night. So your guess is good as mine. I also notice that some of the diner rotations were set up were you would have the same dining room 2 nights in a row (e.i. PTTA). One of the nights in a row was pirate night. I did find someone that posted the menu:

Appetizers: Blackbeards Jumbo Crabcakes, Cannon Smoked BBQ Chicken Drumsticks, The Buccaneer's Sun Ripened Pineapple, Pearls of the Caribbean

Bread Speciality: Jamaican Banan Bread Loaf
Soups and Salads: Chilled-to- the Bone Honeydew Melon and Mango Soup, Caribbean Style Spicy Veggie Gumbo Soup, Hideaway Bay Salad, Jerk Chicken Salad, Mr Smee's Bib Lettuce

Main Course: Treasure of the Seas Grilled Shrimp and Seared Scallops, Jack Sparrow's Fruit Marinated Roasted Loin of Pork, CC Chicken Breast Rubbed with Pirate Island Spice, Capt n Hook's Coconut Crusted Oven Baked Snapper and The Black Pearl's Oven Roasted Beef Ternderloin

Desserts: Shiver-Me-Timbers White Chocolate Cheesecake, Floating Island of Tropical Fruit Treasures, Walk the Triple Layer Chocolate Gangplank Cake, The Lost Banana Treaure, The Calypso Ice Cream Sundae

Not only that but there will be a late night buffet and Deck Party.

Woohoo!!! WE got our cruise docs today!!! My parents got theirs yesterday! Gas here was $2.49 on Monday and is around $2.89 now. I feel kind of guilty. We filled up our boat Monday because we had plans to camp and take the kids swimming/boating this weekend. But, if there is a gas shortage, maybe we shouldn't and just ciphen the gas out?

I read that pirate night is on both cruises. AS for which night, I've read both ways...Nassau night and CC night, so who knows? ha ha.

edited to add: I also read in allears newsltr yesterday the staggered dining is definitely staying and is moving to the magic too. Since we have main dining, it could be 5:45, 6:00, or 6:15. The allears ltr suggested we could put in a request, although not guaranteed to get it, for our preferred time. So, our TA, DU, put us down for 6:15. We'll see if we get it. ha ha

Here is a thread on gas in florida:

This is kind of scary. I mean I knew prices would go up, but no gas at all? Whoa.....We have a minivan rental. Should we somehow figure out some other way to get to PC, then poly, then back to airport? Someone did suggest the fuel option on the rental might actually be cheaper than waiting in line or not being able to find gas.

vossgemi- Congrats on the docs! I'm hoping to see ours in a couple days. I'm worried about our car rental too, but actually, more worried about flights. There was recent info today about flight cancellations and airports closing due to fuel shortages. Both Charlotte and Orlando were mentioned. My sisters are flying from Philly.
I was watching our local news tonight and apparently news (or rumor) came out that pipelines were damaged that supply the southeast and everyone scrambled to the pumps! They showed video of gas stations with cars lined up waiting for hours and other stations closed after they ran out. :confused3

We have a trip planned (airfare and rental house already booked) to New Orleans in Feb. Assuming air resumes by then, we may just turn it into a volunteer vacation. Can't think of a better way than to dig in and help clean up myself if I can. Of course, we'll have to wait and see if the rental house survived....it was in the french quarter, so I guess we'll see. This is just soo soo sad for all those involved.

I was wondering if anyone has ever stayed in this suite and pros/cons. It is just my DH and myself. I was also wondering if anyone has stayed at the back of the ship before and felt motion? I still havent got docs yet :confused3 Hopefully they will be here soon

If you click on staterooms at the top of the dcl forum, you should get into a screen so you can review comments about specific stateroom #s. As far as the back of the ship, we were aft on RC's Brilliance last Jan. WE loved it as we had a super big balcony. Yes, it was a little more rocky back there, but we were fine.

Both my family and Robin's family received our docs yesterday. I can not believe it is really almost here! I could really use some happy news right now, all of the sadness on the Gulf coast is really starting to wear on me!!

I really hope mine come today while I am home!!! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Lucky you!!!!!

I can't believe that two weeks from today we will be on our way to Florida! I just read an article that a friend sent me about how Georgia will be lifting their sales tax on gasoline for the month of September. And they will be watching for price gouging. I know some of us will be passing thru GA on our drive to Fla. That is the biggest part of our drive from NC.
