EARLY CHECK IN: December 15th, 2007 - Seven night Western - 12/15/07

I like the Indians better than the Red Sox, but I am a National League fan over American League.

I hope all the little ones get their sleeping down. I know that is tough on everyone else.

We got Rachel's formal dress yesterday. It is really pretty. She lit up when she tried it on. My mom bought it for her as a birthday present this year. So, for her, all we need is shoes and she is all set. I am all set for me. I need to get the guys measured for their tuxes. I need to look at Jake's pants situation too, I think he might need some khaki's for dinner. I am ready to start packing. :goodvibes

Happy 15th Everyone!!!!

Go Rockies!!! Saw Colorado on the news twice this morning, once for baseball, once for SNOW.

Glad Rachel found a dress that she likes. I'm still trying to decide. Andy is taken care of, Shaun is close, he wears Ts and shorts, and has three pairs of dress pants, plenty of shirts, and his suit. DH is taken care of also. I am very close to being ready. DD needs something to wear on the bottom. :scared1: She has plenty of tops but her capris and shorts aren't fitting so great.

The horses made it to the stable. They haven't been ridden for a few years, but they are older so hopefully they will adjust to their new environment and be good horses. DD is in love and wanted to spend all of her time there this weekend.

We went to DS band performance on Saturday night, we skipped church yesterday and were just kind of lazy. Yesterday started out with 2" of rain, the sun is supposed to shine sometime before the end of the week.

Andy is doing better, waiting to hear back from the pediatrician on whether we should start back on the regular formula and food, or what the plan is.

Hope everyone has a great week! I can't believe we're getting so close!!!! I need to start making lists and checking them twice (ok maybe three or four times)!! It's almost time to panic!!

Oh, wow - less than two months now! Hard to believe it's so soon (after booking SO long ago)!

I'm glad the babies are getting better and the dogs are holding in there. I was browsing the frozen section of the organic grocery the other day and saw frozen prepared meals FOR DOGS. The ingredients seem pretty close to the casseroles we ate as children. I'm trying not to think real hard about that one.

We were out at my Dad's again this past weekend. We brought his cat home to live at our house. Our dog is really frightened of this hissing bundle of fur, so we've got a baby gate separating them so they can see and smell each other, but the cat is in charge of whether or not they can interact. I've never had a cat before, but my DH and DD are totally thrilled.

On the horse front, we went to an animal park in Arizona this weekend, and they had a really great Safari trek where the animals came right up to the bus. We got to feed the giraffes, and the driver fed the other animals. Anyway, on the way back, she mentioned offhand that there were some FREE horses if anyone wanted to adopt one. Oh, great - "free" isn't exactly the word I'd use. So DD turns to me, eyes shining, and asks if we can take home the "free" horse along with the cat - I said nope, the cat will fit in a carrier on the plane but the horse certainly won't. I think, for us at least, one dog and one cat is plenty!

My packing stack is getting taller!

What's everyone up to this weekend? The kids were out of school yesterday so my dad came down and spent the night (Mom is out of town). We went to dinner and then to a movie. Today, I am taking Rachel over to my SIL's house so she can babysit (BIL is still there, she will just watch here cousin so he can get some stuff done). Jacob is going to play at a friend's house and I am going to run a few errands. Tomorrow is supposed to be cold and rainy, possibly snowy so I want to get my running around done today while it is close to 70. :sunny:

In Indy the weather is very nice. The boys both had soccer games all day. Now I'm getting ready to take my therapist out for dinner

Hope everyone else's weekend is going well!

Snowy weather. That's just hard to imagine. It's still in the 80's here.

We bought DD a dress for formal night. We got DS a Mickey Mouse dressy outfit with a sleeveless V-neck sweater and a tie from disneyshopping. Now DH and I just have to figure out what to wear.

I'm seriously going to need therapy after this trip. DH is taking his 6 weeks of leave for the baby from Thanksgiving to New Years. I'm going to be lost without him come January.

Hi everyone -

Snowy? Wow. It's been a little chilly here, but we're supposed to get Indian Summer weather here next week, so it will be in the 80's for at least a few days before it's time to put away the sandals. I'm with you, Susan!

I spent most of the day at the Apple store today, trying to get a dying laptop computer fixed. DD thankfully doesn't have much going on this weekend, so we're enjoying a relaxing weekend at home for a change. We had her first junior high parent/teacher conference today, and she was thrilled to get quarter grades - she never had grades in elementary school, just a note on the limited progress/expected progress/meeting standard/exceeding standard scale.

We're trying to get the dog and cat used to each other, so they're each getting a lot of love on either side of a baby gate (cat can cross, but dog can't). It's slow going! Any tips from those who've been there before?

Costumes are in place for Halloween, but still working on fancy dress for cruise. What are the DD/DH's wearing? How about the moms (dress, slacks/skirt and blouse combo)?

It was really nice here yesterday. It was really windy, but close to 80. Right now it is about 38 and wet outside. The weather site says that we have a 90% chance of snow, maybe 1-3 inches so not much. So far though it has just rained. I'll bet the mountains got some last night though.

Susan, John's outfit sounds really cute!!

Is Jessica in 6th grade? Rachel is in 6th, but still elementary school. Some of her friends though that are in a different school district are in middle school now. At her school they start getting letter grades in 4th grade. She was very excited when that happened too. Now, it is Jacob's turn to start getting his grades. With his papers that have been coming home, I really had no clue what he would have. Some papers said 95 and some said 65. We had conferences this past week too and he is mostly C's with an A and a B thrown in in Spelling and Writing.

I don't have any tips for you about the pets. We have never had a cat, just a dog.

DD got a formal dress last week. DH wants to rent a tux again this time so I will get one for DS also. DH and DS don't have a suit so we would have to buy one for them if we didn't do the tux anyway and this way we don't have to carry it with us, it will be waiting on board. Last cruise I did a formal gown, but this time I am not doing a full length gown. I bought a nice black dress that is long, probably about mid shin length. It isn't technically a "formal", but I think it is pretty nice looking (got it at Penney's on sale too :))

Okay, it is snowing now. It is coming down pretty good. I can still see some grass poking out of the snow and the street is covered. :cold: I have to leave in an hour or so to go pick up Rachel from her friends house and we have to get her a costume today, her Cruella idea fizzled out when we couldn't find a wig for her.

Jessica is in 6th grade. In our district (which is just our city, relatively small), elementary is K-5, junior high 6-8, high school 9-12. My husband grew up on our block a mile away from where we live now, so our DD's go to the same schools DH attended as a child. When he was there, it was K-6, 7-9, 10-12, which I would prefer (keeping them young for as long as possible).

My DH is still able to squeeze into his tux from our wedding, but I don't know if he'll bring it. He's not the planner that I am - he's a winging-it kind of guy. I have no idea about DD - she has a number of outfits that she wore to Cotillion this year (dance instruction at the junior high) that would be fine, but they're not particularly fancy. I have a cocktail-type dress (I think - knee-length) that I found at Loehmann's this summer on super-sale that would match DH's tux.

Q for those who have cruised before - do you need something warm to wear at dinner because of outside temps or indoor air conditioning in the dining rooms?

 Never thought about post-cruise depression - are there any known cures?

Kathryn, I never needed anything warmer for dinner. Last time I did bring a dressy sweater just in case, but never used it. I did get really cold in the movie theater though.
