EARLY CHECK IN: December 15th, 2007 - Seven night Western - 12/15/07

almost 2 weeks.

Yes, my son is going for Special olympics.

There are alot of resrtictions about getting into China. No Cameras, film, & whole list of items

Wow...i didn't realize there was that many restrictions to go into China. No cameras? wow, that stinks because there are so many wonderful pictures to be taken over there.

I'm only advised to not bring any jewelry (that whole blood diamond trade thing) And any electronics have to be specially marked.

Welcome RalphieN and family. We hope Gillian and family can join us too. I have a DD who will be 7 at cruise time. I think there is one other boy who will be 7 as well.

Temps in the 70's here this weekend, so no snow.

yearbook50...congrats on starting a new semester.

Have a great MLK weekend everyone. We'll be finishing up the baby's room and the garage. Maybe I'll post a picture...

yearbook... good luck on your new semester. What are you studying? That is pretty cool that you get to go to Africa.

Sharon, I didn't know they had all of those restrictions for China either. That is pretty interesting.

Stacie, I'll bet it is a load off getting rid of SUM. I told you that I, along with two other people, became a SUM triad this year. Well, the majority of it has fallen to me. I don't even consider one of the people as part of the team anymore. She never shows up to any of our leader meetings and never responds to any emails. The other person is still helping, but I seem to be the one in charge of all of the meetings now.

Susan, wow, 70s would be great! It is -1 here right now. Cookie sales start today. :cold: :cold: Rachel and I will head out later to cover the neighborhood. I have always been one to say she has to walk, that I am not going to drive her around (unlike my neighbor). I think this year there may be some driving to the end of streets and walking the street. It is just too cold.

I study Mechanical Engineering with concentrations in Manufacturing and Design. Africa was one of the options I had to complete a required project dealing with society being benefited by technology.

Wow -1 degrees...Thats wow...cold. You haven't gotten much more snow have you? Those two storms seemed awful.

I'm so lucky that New England's Winter has been so mild this year.

We haven't gotten much snow this week. Yesterday we got up and there was about an inch or so and it is supposed to snow tonight too, but only an inch or maybe two. Those first two storms were pretty bad and then the snow last week was annoying too. It was only about 6 or 7 inches, but on top of everything else it was making me crazy. It is supposed to stay really cold for a few days. I think it is supposed to get back up to around 30 or so around Wed though. It seems like we always have an arctic freeze during the Stock Show.

It's snowing!!! We had sleet last night and this morning. It was enough that the kids went after church, the ice made it really fast.

Cristi--Is your SUM position a two-year appointment? Mine was. You need to appoint whoever you want to take over as co-manager next year then you'll have some help. Are you guys being affected by the GSUSA re-alingment? In Iowa they are combining 5 councils into one. The good part is the girls will have more opportunities (4 resident camps instead of 1) the bad thing is that a lot of the staff is changing positions, or quitting, and we're getting a new CEO. The camp that we've always gone to there is a new camp director and assistant camp director. :sad2:

Hope eveyone is having a good weekend. Andy was baptized today, here's a couple pics. I can't beleive how much he changes every day.

Stacie, what cute pictures!
I don't have an official appointment time. They said we needed to commit to at least two years, but pretty much stick with it until we get sick of it. :) They are re-aligning our councils too. I think all of Colorado will now be one council instead of 5. It seems to be going smoothly so far.

Yeah, someone else is getting snow. We have had a little off and on today, but it is very fine and dry. Probably less than an inch.

Precious pictures Stacie. You have a beautiful family. I still can't believe that we'll have a baby boy in less than 2 months!!

Two months until baby, 11 months until the cruise!!! Susan, Cristi, and Sharon, I was looking through the picture of the day thread yesterday and saw your pictures. I can't wait to cruise at Christmas time, the decorations are so beautiful. Don't get me wrong, March will be nice too (especially since it is cold and snowy here today) but you can't beat WDW and cruising in December.

Stacie nice pictures.

thank-you Stacie, I don't even remember posting picture of the day for a long time. You most have really going back.

Sad news--TammyAlphabet had to cancel this cruise. I saw her post on the regular cruise board and PMed her. She PMed back that when they recently went on the wonder three of her son's teachers wouldn't let him make up mid-terms so he got zeros in those classes so next year is not happening. She gave up a secret port-hole room if anyone is interested, it might still be open.

I tried to come here and post the sad news for me. I am really sad to see it go. But school has to come first. I am going to miss going on this cruise and can't really afford the week of christmas (twice as much almost). Maybe 2008......

Awwww, Tammy, I am going to miss having you on this cruise. I totally understand though. I am thinking that after this cruise we won't be going during the school year anymore. DD will be in Jr. high and I am thinking it will be harder to take them out then.

I am glad we got to have our DIS meet in Tennesse though. Next time I am back there I will call you again to set up another one. :)

Absolutely, I look forward to it!! I am having trouble not looking on this thread, it has become part of my routine!!:sad1:

:sad1: :sad2: :sad1:

Sorry you won't be joining us, we will miss you. This thread is like family:grouphug:

I hope you keep reading the boards.

As I said on the other thread, we're gonna miss you. But school is way more important than the cruise.

After temps in the 70's on Monday, it is snowing here today. They're predicting 2 inches...schools are closed. (We don't get much snow around here). My DD is quite excited...my dog, not so much.

TammyAlphabet...sorry you can't make the cruise. School is definitely more important. We will miss you. Hope you continue to check in with us.

I'm going to sit by the fire with a book and watch it snow!!

There's just something about the first snow of the year, a book and a fire sounds like a great way to spend the day. Don't forget the hot chocolate. :surfweb: I'm hoping that the next 8 weeks go as fast for you as they are for me. We got Andy's passport yesterday. I'm starting to make lists of what we need to pack and trying to figure out how much luggage we'll need. We bought baby his own plane seat, does that mean he gets luggage and a carryon? I hope so.

Andy had his 2-month check on Tuesday. He's not gaining a whole lot of weight so the Dr. wants us to wake him up in the morning (at 5:00 no less) so that he can get an extra bottle in every day. He didn't think he should be sleeping from 11PM-7AM. Isn't there a saying about letting a sleeping baby lie (maybe that's a dog, but either way). We're going to recheck his weight in a month and hopefully he's gained more.

Any of you guys thinking about doing the summer '08 cruises? I haven't seen the official announcement, just read the rumors, might have to check it out.

Hope everyone has a great day.

You guys enjoy your snow. I think I could be done with it for the year! :) I know what you mean though about having a good book, a fire and watching it snow. I was really excited this morning when I realized that I could actually see some NON-SNOW covered ground in my backyard :woohoo: . It's the little things in life. ;) Now, it was only a small section going from the back porch out about 6 feet or so, but it has been awhile since I have seen it. I am predicting the the front yard has snow until May though. It never melts out there.

Stacie, man I would hate to wake Andy up when he is sleeping. He looked pretty healthy to me. :)
