EARLY CHECK IN: December 15th, 2007 - Seven night Western - 12/15/07

Hey all! You guys have been chatty. I'm not lost in the mess, but almost. I've been sorting and cleaning during the day and DH and I have been going out every night. We got the rest of the bathroom stuff, last night we took my niece and nephews out for ice cream, tonight we're going up town for the city band concert and food. Tomorrow DS comes home around noon, and we go pick up DD. The bathroom should be done tomorrow or Saturday!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

It's funny that you guys are talking about accents. When I was growing up we would go to NASCAR races on summer vacations. In both Talladega, AL and Bristol, TN people told me they loved my accent. Hello, I'm an Iowa girl, I didn't have an accent, but they had an accent. I love going to Shoney's and having the breakfast buffet because I love grits. We used to have Shoney's in Iowa, but theyv'e all closed.

Hope everyone has a good night. :sunny:

I remember going south on vacation. I asked for a bag of "ICE" she told me the "A**" was in the back.I know I gave the stranges look  After 3-4 attempts, I told her I needed for the cooler. We finally got the Ice :rotfl2:
When she asked could she sack my groceries she received another dumb look, like what are you talking about. she put them in a "BAG", she then told me I had accent. Excuse me I no the difference between Ice & A**

Ok further down south the children asked for "SODA" (cola, coke, pepsi) they had no idea what I wanted. We finally figured it is called "POP" :rotfl2:

Where I grew up in tennessee, every soda is called a coke. When you ask someone to get you a coke in the store, they ask what kind? Like coke, pepsi, mountain dew, 7-up or whatever. :sunny:

In Iowa we drink pop, and small streams that water flows in are creeks not cricks.

The kids are back, and the bathroom is just a few hours away from being complete, I can actually take a shower in the morning.

Tomorrow is the conference swim meet though, so no sleeping in.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!!

You said it... :goodvibes I remember the same thing. And the thing you push in the grocery store is a buggy not a cart. I remember asking DD to get a buggy once when we got to the store and she looked at me like I was crazy. :sunny:

I remeber that one also. These are getting funny.

The thing you wash dishes (not dishwasher) in is a "Sink" not zinc ;)

We say Water not Woter

Updating: Daughter used to call me "Mother" before she moved to Maine, now she calls me "Mothah"
What can a mother say, I'll start calling her "daughtah" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Okay, cruisemates...what is momanems?(courtesy of Jeff Foxworthy)

Oh my goodness it is so good to see all the disboard threads.....we just got power back in St. Louis after day 4 of no power. We had the worst storm I have ever seen and it pulled up a 200 year tree across the street and threw it into my neighbors 2cars and his porch. Neighbor down the street lost a huge tree into the house. We had no damage and I can not believe it...our house is 130 years old and we have 2trees in back that are just as old if not older. The winds were 90mph for over an hour. Ok ......that is my storm story...glad to see everyone is doing so good...check more back later.

Kristin

Philly, Pa had some bad storms also, we had the some wind. Glad your house was saved. I have a huge tree in my yard & fear every time we have strong winds.

Ok we are playing the accent game,do you have any funny sayings ;)

Wow, Kristen, glad everything is ok. We have had some rain here, but no storms.

Not much going on here, just packing and cleaning, cleaning and packing. Aug 15 is coming really fast.

Tammy-you've even stumped my husband on the Jeff Foxworthy saying. The only thing he wanted for father's day last year was a Jeff Foxworthy CD.

Momanems--Mother and her peers, as in " Momanems goin' to Wal-mart, do you need enythang?"

Next--Mayonaise....(not a condiment)

Kristen---I am glad to hear that you weathered the storm...they can get really rough, I just moved from Carbondale Illinois and they got some strong storms too. Glad your power is back on.

Tammy you are racking my brain ;)

Tammy you are really stumping me with that one. I keep thinking Me and ? I can't figure it out.

I remember once when DD was probably 3 or 4 we had gone to visit my grandma in Kentucky. DH stayed home. When we got back DD had really picked up an accent. She kept going up to him and asking for some "sugah". He had no clue what she meant. :)

Mayonnaise-Translation="Man they is"=as in "Mayonnaise alot of people in Walmart on Friday night". Say it real real fast and you will get it. :sunny: I forgot the rest of them. It really cracks me up when he does that southern stuff.

Did I run everyone off with mayonnaise? Ha Ha. Okay, Tammy, off the boards and get to work. :sunny:
