Early 2012 Planners - anyone else?!

Yay, other 2012 planners!!!! I'm planning our very FIRST WDW trip for Sept/Oct. 2012 and have been now since after christmas. It's killing me not to tell my kids but I'm planning to surprise my girl on her 8th birthday in July with a countdown calendar. That way I get to give her a huge surprise and she has time to anticipate and tell her friends and help plan it. I have a running list of places to stay, places to eat, and what to see lol.

I even have 2 Disney TA's, one American and one Canadian, and I'm just waiting for Aug/Sept of this year to start the booking process :rotfl:

We have picked our week!! :yay: But nothing else!

We're going in January 2013 for our youngest daughter's 11th birthday.

Figure it's only a few weeks after 2012, so I'll hang out with ya'll until someone opens a 2013 thread! :rotfl:

How dare you sulley our 12 board with a 13. For shame...

Just kidding. The more the merrier I always say (except when it comes to family) :scared1: . But I'm actually shooting for a Dec 2012 return to WDW. Hopefully, by the then, all the refurbishments that I've been waiting for, will be done. The expanded Fantasy Land (RIP Toontown), modernization of Port Orleans Riverside (favorite resort) and, this 1 killed me by being down my last trip down, Star Tours.

Also, my helpful hint for the day: Never underestimate the value of an empty water cooler jug.

I started dropping change in 1 about 8 mos before my trip down, and when I finally brought it to the Coinstar at my bank (no fees with an acct), I had enough to buy everyone back home a souvenoir shirt. That's A LOT of money.

We just came home a little over a week ago and I'm going through withdraw. Want to start planning for the fall of 2012 and I was thinking I was crazy!! Trying to decide whether to go the end of September and do the whole Halloween thing which we have done before, or to go early November or early December and experience Christmas which we have never done before. Any suggestions?

I can't speak for others, but I just went last Dec 9-15, and I had an incredible time. Taking in all the decorations, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, the Candlelight Processional and I DARE anyone to watch the Osbourne Lights in the middle of the street and not catch yourself that your jaw is wide open. The same can be said for the lighting of the castle ceremony.

We also took a morning to have breakfast at the Polynesian just so we could ride the monorail to the other resorts and see how each of them were decorated. By the way, the life-sized gingerbread house and gingerbread Xmas tree are a must see. Also, I wanted to do this, but didn't have time, but walk through the campgrounds and see how everyone has decorated their own area. I heard people talking about it, and they raved.

The crowds aren't too bad and walking around the world in Epcot and seeing all the winter holidays and how they are celebrated was really cool. And if you have children, the performers interact with them.

There are 2 caveats though:
1) When we were down there it was the coldest and windiest it had been in many years. The avg temp is usually mid40's to 50's. So it's the roll of the dice. The same way it would be if it were to rain all week in the spring and summer.

2) Find out when the Pop Warner championship week is and go the week before or after. I checked in the day that the tourney was over. When I was checking in, the people who were checking out would tell stories about cheerleaders practicing in the open areas at 5am and non-stop yelling at each other... on the bus, at meals, at the pool, etc... I'd also hear that the parents would get a little (ahem) boisterous, at the lounges. Didn't hear any complaints about the footballers themselves.

I hope I didn't scare you away from Disney in Dec. If you have any doubts, just wait til the end of this year when the Home and Garden Network airs their behind the scenes special. That's what inspired me.

BDL thank you sooo much for your detailed response!!! You absolutely did not scare me away, if anything you definitely made me lean more towards going in December. The only thing I was leary about was it being crowded, I love Disney but hate going when it is overly crowded. We've done Halloween before and have always said I want to see it at Christmas time. So thank you so much, I appreciate it!!:goodvibes

Hey everyone,

im planning a trip with my sister from about the 11th February- 25th, with a cruise either at the beginning of end of the holiday and also a few days spent at Kennedy space centre, Sea world and Universal :)

Count me in! :goodvibes We'll be there next February (Come on 2012 ... Get here already!). We haven't booked anything yet, but I have about 5 Disney lists going.

Just got back from a 10 day stay last week and.... we are already planning on going in the third week of January 2012. I really want to go in October for F&W and warmer weather but to be honest, I can't wait 20 months- so January it is....

I get to stay! I get to stay with the 2012ers!!! :dance3:

After talking it over with my hubby, we've moved our trip up to December 7th through 15th, 2012!!

We definitely want to see the Fantasyland expansion, but I have always wanted to see Disney at Christmastime!!

Woo hoo!

We're planning our honeymoon for October 27- November 4th. Originally wanted to stay at CBR since I worked there many moons ago, and since my fiance's never been I'd decided maybe we should stay at Poly Club Level and knock it off my bucket list. :rotfl2:

I'm just hoping they offer some great deals....aka Free Dining!!! Can't wait until August so we can put down a deposit!!!!

You should SO stay Poly CL. :cloud9: I am in in love with that place

Yes! Planning to take my daughter for her 7th birthday, which is in January. Still haven't firmed up dates but will once the prices come out in August!

Early April 2012! Haven't been since I was a teenager in 1992. I'm so excited but there is so much to plan/decide!! I know it will be busy at spring break, but it's the only time we can go with having teachers in the family (and we don't want to go in the summer). :)

We just returned on Feb 15 and have already started thinking about our next trip. It was just my husband and I this last trip but our daughter and her boyfriend are going to be going with us in 2012. It will be my husbands birthday on Sept 22 so we would like to arrive Sept 21 and stay until the 3rd of Oct.

We have been at various times but haven't been in the early fall, my daughter will be all done school and her and I both have always wanted to go to the food and wine festival. With those dates we should be able to catch some of it. Doesn't it usually start the end of Sept?

We also want to do the MNSSHP, we have already done the MVMCP and loved that. We also hope that the Wishes Dessert party is still a go, my daughter would love that. My husband and I went this Feb and it was so perfect.

It is nice to be among others with the same passion as myself. I usually lurk but I do post at times. So I will be with you all right through these up coming months that we will all count away together.

And nice to see you again DisneyFirstTimer, how was your trip? We ended up with colds and felt awful but still enjoyed ourselves. Did you like the resort you were at, sorry I can't remember where it was you ended up. Pop was great as usually. They were able to fill all our request for our room and it was perfect. :hippie:

Count me in - We're planning for either May or November 2012, can't decide which yet!

Where can I sign up for the support group? I think my dd-11 and DS-17 are ready to have me commited somewhere.

We're planning our trip to WDW November 17, 2012! It will be our 2nd trip there as a family, but this time my parents are planning on going with us, and it'll be their 1st trip! I'm SO excited! Only 635 DAYS! :rotfl:

Have now narrowed our dates down for definite, we're going 21st April - 5th May 2012!

Woo hoo!!

Wish we could book now, but the flights aren't out for another few months. Oh well, I'll just have to write my packing list and make my touring plans. My DH said "why the heck are you doing that already??? That doesn't need doing for months, maybe a year..." I replied that I'm not doing it because it needs doing, I'm doing it because I love doing it and I'm going to actually explode if I don't get this excitement out somehow!!

He just walked away.

LOL.
