Ear Planes for Children

Does anyone know where you can buy Earplanes for children? I've looked at every Wal-Mart, Target, and pharmacy in the area and all I can find are Ear Planes for adults. TIA!

I'm not sure what that is?????? Is it an aid for ear popping ??? I asked my pediatrician if there was anything she recommended for flying w/ our two yr old, and she said to give him 3/4 tsp of Sudafed. I forgot to give it to him on the way down, and when we took off and landed he was crying!!!! On the return flight, I gave him the Sudafed right before boarding, and he never cried once! Matter of fact, he fell asleep for most of the flight. You may want to check w/ your children's ped and see what they recommend. Hope this helps!!!

I found them at CVS Drugstore, Wal-Mart, and Harris Teeter (grocery store). They worked great for DS4. I forgot to put them in on the way down, and he was in a lot of pain. Remembered them on the way back, and he never complained once - except for me to help him put one back in after he pulled it out. He said "hurry, hurry, I don't want my ears to hurt like last time!" So, they must have felt pretty good.

I hate having sore ears from all the popping. I am a white knuckle flyer to begin with and the constant ear popping only adds to mu anguish especially on long flights. Do these things really work?

They must. DS4 was screaming in pain without them and had no problems with them.

I found the child size at CVS, they are also available on-line. I have terrible ear pain when flying and heard about them in WDW chat site. Since DD5 has ear problems I got her a pair too for her first ever flight. She wouldn't keep them in, but didn't complain of any pain either.

I'll never fly without them .

As others have mentioned, CVS's by me always have the children's size.

I'll admit, I'm not convinced they work, though I use them! I fly generally every other month for work, so I've got quite a bit of experience with them. In the past I have had pretty severe pain upon landing, and I still get some pain with the Ear Planes. I find that when my sinuses are stuffed up, my ears will hurt more no matter what so I suspect that has way more to do with it than anything. The suggestion about taking Sudafed is probably a good one!

But I'm always too scared to try flying without the Ear Planes, so I don't really have a point for comparison.

CVS lately is the only place we've recently been able to find the child size ones. Used to be all over, Rite-Aid, Walmart etc....

I can tell you first hand... THEY REALLY REALLY REALLY WORK !

My oldest son had many ear infections before he turned 5 years old, and his eardrums are quite sensitive. We have gone on a flight without them, and let me tell you.... he was out of his mind in pain. I never saw such a thing, nothing we said or did consoled him in any way. It was like something you'd see on a movie or something. Next time, we used the earplanes and AHHHHHHHHH what a difference, you didn't even know we were taking off /or landing, which is the time when the pressure hits most.

I haven't flown for more than 10 years, and when I did fly I had some major pain. My ears hurt so much that I was in tears, and my whole jaw hurt. I took Sudafed before the each flight, and I still had this problem on most flights. As a child, I've had ear tubes and countless infections. I've had a few ear infections as an adult, too--though not recently. I bought some Earplanes for myself and will use them.

I need to find a pair that'll fit my kids, especially dd. She has allergies and even with meds she is almost always "sniffy." I'm worried about her ear hurting. She hasn't flown since she was an infant, so this is her first real flight. I'm not sure if her ears will bother her or not. I did get the OK from her doctor to give her Sudafed in addition to her allergy meds on the day of our flight. With both the Sudafed and Earplanes, I hope she'll be OK. We also have a direct flight, meaning we have only 1 take off and landing to do.

I'm off to find a CVS! If I can't find the child sized Earplanes at the store, I'll order them online.

I brought them at cvs for the family. On the way down my son lost one. I them saw the at the airport for the same price. I took them out after the plane got in the air and noticed a difference without them.

Eckerd carries them too, even has a much cheaper store brand (which I haven't tried yet).

I was skeptical when I read about these on this board but, tried in June. What a God-send! No problems @ all for me, typically I have ear pain & cannot hear well for several days after flying.

I know drugstore.com has the adult ones for alot cheaper than I have bought before, I do think they had the childrens ones also.

I went to our local CVS and was delighted to find 2 boxes of child-sized Earplanes. But, while reading one of the boxes, I discovered that the box had been open. Someone stole the Earplanes right out of the box! I took both boxes to the register and showed them to the employee. I didn't want anyone to buy an empty box. The other box was OK, so I did buy that one. The employee said that they should get another shipment soon, so I'll check back before our trip.

I'm glad that I was able to find the Earplanes at our local CVS, though am mad that someone stole one pair from the box. Had I not stopped to read the box, I would have not noticed and I would have paid over $6.00 for an empty box.

Thank you soooo much. You have convinced me. My DH and I have flown together with no ear problems. However, we have never flown with the kids.

DS11 has flown once... round-trip to Washington, D.C. with his 5th grade class and didn't complain of any problems.
DS05 and DS01 have never flown.

DS05 had major trouble with his ears (infections, tubes, etc.) as an infant.
DS01 hasn't had an ear infection yet. However, he isn't terribly verbal (you know just the mama, dada, bite, bye-bye, etc.) I don't think that he could tell me if he was in pain. I would just think it was a fear of flying, new environments, etc.

I am definitely going to buy these for all three DS's. Do you think that I should purchase a pair for both DH and myself? If we have flown before with no problems, can you suddenly have a problem?
