Ear-drum shattering screaming by ToT guests throughout the entire ride.

Well, one time when we were there, I don't know who it was, but SOMEONE started spitting everywhere. It was just like water pouring out of the sky. I don't know how someone could possibly have that much saliva, but all sorts of people were also offended, because they were putting on plastic robes to protest the spitting.

Probably teen-agers.

Yeah, those darn teenagers. If we didn't need them to pay our social security we could ship them all of to an island.

We once rode with a bunch of teenage boys who screamed "[insert bad word] you" throughout the whole ride and then to top it off they apparently made the gesture that means the same thing for the camera. They were met by security and we were offered re-rides. I decided to pass as once it enough for me!

Pretty sure the spit reference was a joke. They were making a reference to RAIN.

I disagree. I was a teen not that long ago and would have NEVER dreamed of doing much of the stuff I see kids doing today that is just plain rude. I don't think they are being taught as much care and consideration for others as in the past. We are becoming too much of a "me" society and not being taught to be considerate of others so rudeness is multiplying, AND people are less likely to give someone who truly needs it a little leeway.

^^ THIS!! My mother would skin my BUTT if I did something like all this!! Not only that, I have respect for people around me. I'm technically still a teenager (19) but I'm also a Junior in college and one thing I will say is nothing drives me up the wall more than my roommates being loud!!

That being said: I scream on TOT. Not bloodcurdling, not to be rude, to show I'm having fun! I may even give a small "ah" on HM because I'm having fun (and okay some of that stuff makes me jumpy)! I totally agree that trying to scare small children and screaming SO loud throughout the whole ride is rude...but as a PP said people are becoming less tolerant and (my 2 cents) everything seems to "offend" someone nowadays!!

I fear the day when I can't scream (let's say shout) on a ride because I will "ruin" someone's day. At that point...it's not fun!

Another confession: the first upside down roller coaster I rode (Dragon Challenge in IOA) I screamed like I was gonna die!! There was one other girl with me and my BF and she, my bf and all the ride attendants (and probably a few riders waiting) were laughing their butts off at me!! lol I wasn't doing it to be funny or for attention...I was terrified!! It just happened that I apparently made one of the CMs morning lol!!

Seriously though, I try to just think "Hey, I'm in Disney World!! I can ride again!! I'll let them have their fun." I've found ignoring the ride troll makes a bigger impact than calling them out. But it does help to approach a CM as they will usually comp you a ride!!

Just my thoughts!

I was on ToT a few years ago. A teenage girl (younger teen maybe 13?) sat next to me & was instantly petrified. She screamed throughout. As soon as we did the fist drop she grabbed my shoulder & pinched me so hard she broke my skin. :scared: I couldn't believe it. Once it was over I just wanted to get out of there & away from this girl. I felt bad for her as she was hysterical but jeez.

:scared1: & :rotfl2:

I'll take the screamers over her any day! Did she apologize or anything?

Outrageous! I hope they were escorted out of the park.

I have only been bothered by loud mouths during the castle show and Wishes. Two women speaking Spanish were talking very loudly through the entire show.

The most ludicrous part of it was when the little girl with them said, in a very quiet voice, "Oooooh, bonita" and one of the loud women shushed her aggressively!

They are teenagers. They want to be noticed and want attention. You get angry with them and it just feeds them. They aren't gonna stop just because an adult (a complete stranger at that) asked them to.

I have successfully gotten them to stop several times by calling out poor behavior. All it takes is "really? Is that necessary?" Or " want to grow up a little" in my best mom/teacher voice.

On our last trip, one night on Soarin, we had a group (about 6) of drunks making loud bird noises (like MCCAW, MCCAW) over and over again, while in line, then on the ride some. One of the girls was barely standing up, she was hanging all over her friend. I was glad they weren't sitting next to us.

Same trip, on POTC, I was blinded from the front and back, the row behind us and in front of us took pictures of everything. DS and I started laughing and being silly about it, luckily we had rode it several times and didn't really care, we kept closing our eyes. But if that would have been my first experience, I would have been very disappointed.

:confused3 It's worked every time I've done it.

Sorry. TOT really, really scared me and I did scream, every drop. I was embarrassed when I saw the picture afterwards and my mouth was wiiide open screaming, and the people behind me had their hands over their ears. It was not intentional, and guess what? I won't ride it again. Rode Everest once too. Now I am sticking to POC, Peoplemover, COP, etc.:) So sorry, if I was on your ride. I have learned!
I am sure there may be some people who just think it's fun to make a lot of noise, though, and that is rude on purpose!

Just to clarify, I don't think anyone has a problem with people screaming DURING the drop sequence. At that point it is expected that people will scream and yell, because that is the "scary" part of the ride.

What people are complaining about is when someone starts screaming the second their butt hits the seat, before the even the seatbelt check, and then screams THROUGHOUT the entire ride.

Screaming during the drop sequence= fun
screaming during the lead up to the drops= annoying

:thumbsup2 huge difference in the type of screaming the OP was describing and screams from falling or something jumping out at you.

1. Teenagers scare me. I am 36.

2. When it ent on dinosaur, the people next to me totally lost their minds, not being dumb but really screaming. It just made me laugh. It's not that scary! I am sure they were just in a ride mood, but it was really over the top. The photo was funny though, I have a huge smile, they are hysterical.

I had the worst TOT experience the first week of April. I was on it with a big group of high schoolers and the one girl right next to me was yelling, "Spoiler Alert:" and then would say what was about to happen. For example when the heads come out of the mirror and come toward you she yelled that that was happening for the entire car to hear.

Also her and the guy sitting next to her were lifting their arms up and banging as loud as possible the aluminum wall in the back. I mean the entire ride they were pounding the wall with their arms.

I got scared because they did during the ride and drop. It is not smart to be pounding the car while it is moving. I told them to stop and they just looked at me and kept doing it. I got sooo infuriated.

I hate ToT. It scares the piss outta me. I rode it in February with DH so he wouldn't have to ride alone. I'm sure I annoyed some fellow riders. I don't care. It's genuine fear coming out. I HATE ToT!!

I was just there last week and I rode TOT 6 times, but only experienced this once. It was a car full of band members from what I could tell was a high school. They were obnoxious starting when we went into the "tv room". They screamed at the top of their lungs when the lights went out and it thundered. Then we got stuck in the same elevator as them and they screamed the whole time. We couldn't even hear what they were saying on the ride. (not that I don't know it by heart lol). Luckily it was walk on and I didn't have to wait long to ride again.

I don't think human behavior has changed necessarily. It seems to me that people are just getting less tolerant of other people.

Seriously?? Completely wrong. People are more tolerant because we are expected to be, and people will take advantage of that and be rude and disrespectful. There is nothing okay about screaming and acting ridiculous they way these people are describing.

Little kids screaming becuase they are scared doesn't bother me, but teens purposely trying to scare as many little kids as possible is unacceptable. I refuse to be "tolerant" of that kind of behavior. I am perfectly willing to tolerate the little kid melting down on a ride, at dinner, ect but not behavior that is designed to purposely infringe on the enjoyment of others.

Very well said!
