...whoever recommended the E-mealz page? I want to give you a huge hug. I signed up for it last week and found a 10% off code on top of it. I went shopping today for the week and for 7 meals for 4 people it cost me $70. I've never been able to walk out of the grocery store under $100 for 5 days before. So...thanks a million!!!!! :) :) :)

I have to agree! I've been using e-mealz for about 7 weeks now, and we absolutely love it. It cuts my planning time down to practically nothing and is definitely a time and money saver at the store!

Well I totally missed it and it sounds really intriguing!

Can someone explain it please?

why e-mealz?...

E-Mealz has been created to provide a kid-friendly and family-uniting meal planning resource for busy Moms and frugal family cooks. Each meal plan is based on the current sales at the grocery stores, with plan options categorized according to store and/or weight management strategy. The recipes are delicious, simple and easy to follow. Each plan is new every week and has a corresponding aisle-by-aisle grocery list. Almost every week includes a crock-pot recipe and easy dinner ideas. There are meal plans for two people, for a low fat diet, a low carb diet, and for those who are following a point system, as well!

E-Mealz is the brainchild of Jane DeLaney. She has four children and a husband who are all picky eaters. But she is most famous in her circles for being a cheapskate. She knows how to maximize her grocery budget and beat the system. She has been known to leave the grocery store with a cart full of groceries, and the store will have given her money! (See Jane's Saving Secrets to learn how she combines the power of budget meal planning and using coupons!) She knows that debt-proof living is impossible without a budget, and the grocery budget is the hardest to manage. Jane is often heard saying, "You can't win without a plan, and poor meal planning is a MONEY PIT!" E-Mealz is a comprehensive and workable plan that accomplishes every goal you may have for yourself and your family when it comes to dinnertime.

oooh interesting.
Does it have one for Meijer?
I saw Kroger, walmart, Aldi's but no Meijer.

Unless it's listed on there, no...but I bet if you email them and ask they'll add it to the list.

I'd have to search for it again but there is a code out there that changes it from $15 for three months of weekly menus to $13. It's really a great plan all around!!

Oh - and how it works for me (I use the Publix store menu):

Each Wednesday (when the new sales at Publix starts) I log in and download the menu the site has created. It gives you 7 meals and has the instructions on how to make everything. The meals list all side dishes, bread, etc.

The second page breaks it down to each item you need to purchase and how many - with prices attached to it (these are almost 100% accurate in my case; last night I only noticed a small handful of items being either slightly more expensive or slightly cheaper than what they had the items listed for). They incorporate the BOGO free items, sale prices, etc. It gives you a rough estimate of the final total at the bottom of the sheet.

Here's an example menu/list for Publix:

Also, some of the items you may already have in your pantry (like the spices, etc.) so you mark them off of your list before you go shopping. None of the menus seem to be too incredibly difficult to make (or weird sounding, lol)!

The one negative that I noticed when I looked at the website is that you have to commit to what plan/store that you are going to use. When I looked at Walmart's plan, a few of the meals didn't really interest me and it would be nice to always have the option to check out the others. I think that it said that you have an option to change once or something like that, but it would be nice to have the total flexibility.

That's why I don't do it. I do my own version. I use Peapod by Stop & Shop, order online using the sales and plan my menu that way. I only purchase sale items. I am saving so much money doing it this way. Plus, I don't have to actually go to the grocery store. Love it!

That's really interesting; I'll have to check it out. Plus, it's great that Publix is actually listed. I feel like sometimes we're left off these kind of lists, lol.

Looks interesting but my store isn't listed either. Also, its just 1 or 2 people eating dinner here most of the time.

Will anyone who's used the plan with Aldi comment on their experience? We don't have Kroger, Publix or Wal-Mart grocery stores nearby, so our only choice would be Aldi and/or any store, and I'm wondering about personal experience using the Aldi plan. TIA for any info.

I would like to hear this too....recently discovered Aldi's and saved a good bit on some things. We currently do the Wal-Mart E-Mealz plan and I LOVE it!!! We have been doing it since April.

I started off with the any store plan, because I'm in the NorthEast and none of the grocery stores are local to me. I found I was spending >$100 per week with that plan, so a couple of months ago I switched to the Aldi's plan. Now my budget is <$70 per week, with plenty of leftovers for my DH to take to work with him. There's generally one crock pot meal per week, and occasional breakfast for dinner night - I love it! Especially now that my DS is in first grade and involved in CCD, Scouts, and Karate - it's a huge time and money saver for me!

for those who are looking for stores not listed try Afullcup.com it is free and the forums are broken down by store, they also tell you what coupons to use with what sale it has saved me THOUSANDS yet thousands of dollars this year (at least 1,000 a month :) )

My name is danielephant on there too, so say hi!

I think this is an awesome concept but I am *not* impressed with the sample menus they sent me via email. Talk about processed food! Maybe the sample menus I got via email aren't reflective of the overall menus but I don't consider a recipe with cheetos or fritos along with ground beef something I want to feed my kids for dinner.

I think that's a real "sample" one....the menus I've had have not have anything like that in it!
