We only joined last August, but we have never received an e-mail from DVC.

Does the e-mail come from your guide? Maybe that would explain it as our guide was very nice but I doubt the kind to do this sort of thing.

Sounds like a nice touch.

This comes directly from DVC-Member Services. We have gotten a few of them. Make sure you e-mail DVC with a current e-mail address and tell them you would like to recieve the e-mail alerts.:D

I have sent several e-mail questions to Member Services. I've also used the online booking form (with success). I've never gotten an e-mail like you discribed from Member Services.

We got the e-mail message today. I think you have to sign up for e-mail messaging on the DVC member site.

I emailed MS several months ago when our email address changed. I got a confirmation that they had received my address change. I've never once gotten any email from MS other than that confirmation.

The e-mails don't come from individual guides...I get them I couldn't even tell you which guide is assigned to me at this point.

At one point they ran a sign-up for e-mail when they were first getting the site together. I would e-mail them with a request to be added to the list. I would include that in the subject line.

The e-mail's don't come that often. The one I most appreciated was one reminding me of banking deadlines.

**Disney Vacation Club Resorts are 'as good as gold'**

Readers of Conde Nast Traveler have named two Disney Vacation
Club Resorts to the upscale travel publication's prestigious
rankings of top worldwide vacation experiences for 2002, as
featured in its January 2002 issue.

Included on the "2002 Gold List" of the highest-rated places to
stay, which were culled from more than 29,000 reader surveys and
interviews, were Disney's BoardWalk Resort -- including
Disney's BoardWalk Villas, along with newcomer The Villas at
Disney Institute and the perennial favorite, Disney's Grand
Floridian.

And new this year, the magazine has introduced a selection of
hotels and resorts supplemental to its "Gold List," but still
worth highlighting. Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort made a
return appearance to the magazine's rankings by placing on this
special list.

Two Hawaiian resorts available through our Member Getaways
program were honored as well. Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and
Bungalows was named to the Gold List, and Kapalua Bay Hotel
made the Reserve List. If a Hawaiian getaway is just what you
need this winter, check out a special offer at Mauna Lani Bay
Hotel and Bungalows, by visiting Special Member Offers.

How can they list that newcomer stuff about the Institute????
This was just announced as a new resort.

Great point BuzzandWoody....

And is "The Villas at Disney Institute" the official name? Or were there already some accommodations there with that name?

I was reading on Disney.com about different resorts and the "Villas at the Disney Institute" was listed under the "Home away from home" section with all the other DVC resorts. My guess is that is what they will call it.

I have also emailed MS and have never recieved email updates from them.

To be placed on the DVC email newsletter list, send an email to members@disneyvacationclub.com and include your DVC member number and a message stating you'd like to be added to the mailing list. They will add you to the list.

The newsletters come out fairly regularly, but I don't know if there is a set schedule.

Don't assume you will be added because you have corresponded with MS by email. It must be a specific request to be added to the list.

Enjoy!

Doc, I've subscribed just as you indicated, and even received an e-mail confirmation that I was on their list (and this was at least 6 months ago), but have heard word zero from them since.

Frankly, it doesn't appear that anything in their e-mail is markedly different from what is on the member's site.

The Villas at Disney Institute

This is the resort that is there NOW. They have called it this since the Disney Institute program began a few years ago. The "newcomer" reference means it was new to the Conde Nast list. The odd thing is that the resort is now being accorded awards in a Travel Magazine at the same time Disney is shutting it down to begin building a DVC resort.

Thanks Doc for the e-mail address! I just sent one to MS asking to be added to the e-mail notification list so hopefully I'll be getting the next one.

Lisa

Oops!

Thanks lcmtam86!! I haven't booked it yet, I meant to put question marks after those because that is what we want to do!!! You're right, I can't book until May and July ;) Thanks, I'll fix that!
