Thinking about buying a dyson vacuum. Do they really do a better job? How long can i expect one to last. Are they really worth the cost difference?

I have mine for 3 years. it the best 500 dollar I ever spent. Beside dyson have lifetime warranty so if anything goes wrong with it, you can send it in.

When I first brought it I vaccuum my whole house top to bottom twice. Then I use Dyson to vaccuum my house again. It pick up a lot of dust and other stuff that my vacuum missed. my old vaccum was a kenmore.

We love ours. I know it is over 5 years old. When we first got it, we would run the Dyson over our carpet after vacuuming with our old vacuum and we were shocked how much dirt was still there that the Dyson picked up.

Ditto everything the two PP said. I went from a Kenmore to a Dyson about 4/5 years ago?? Love it. It picks up much more than my previous canister vaccum did. My only complaint is that the "head" of my (older model) dyson doesn't fit under the toe kick on my kitchen cabinets so I have to stop and add the attachment, but not a big deal. I'm pretty sure the more recent models have a smaller head, though, so probably not a problem any more.

Mine started losing suction at 3.5 - 4 years old. At 5 years old it died completely. I replaced it with a Miele.

I am much happier with the Miele, especially on hard floors which the dyson never did very well.

I was impressed with the Dyson on carpets when I first got it, but I can say that mine did not hold up that well.

I recently bought one and love it. I dontknow why I held out so long. Picks up loads of stuff. Even doing tha attachments are easy!

our Dyson DC17 is still doing a great job. Money well spent for us. Just remember to clean the filter regularly.

Mine never had suction. It was horrible. It was in the shop I think four times before they gave me a new one...that one was horrible as well. Both would slip gears and make a horrible grinding sound.

I also replaced mine with Meile and am delighted. But the Meile is even more expensive than the Dyson.

I have had the Dyson Animal for over five years now and it is still doing great. Anytime anyone visits us, they are shocked at how quickly it fills up and when we have helped friends while they were moving, we bring it along and nearly everyone we know owns one because their vacuums never picked anything up. It has really high suction so if you have hardwood floors and rugs all over the place, you may find that it won't work well in that situation, but they usually come with a huge variety of attachments and so we use that. My only gripe is that the hose is not long enough - but I had gotten a bonus long hose with my Hoover years ago and just use that to get all our stairs clean. It works fantastic for all the animals we have! I wish that they had a roomba like Dyson - that is my dream! ;) I got mine at Target and opened their charge card to get the discount when it was already on sale so it ended up being $400 - then I paid off the charge card and closed it. :) But, also check www.woot.com and Amazon as they have specials from time to time. I don't know about the other models, but I love the Animal.

We probably had the same model- although mine did have suction at first. Apparently there was some kind of clutch problem with my particular model, that they never had a good fix for. They finally discontinued that model.

I have had my DC07 for over 8 years and it is still going strong!

The vacuum has never clogged, and I have never had to repair anything on it.

It is my "Cadillac-Vac" and I love it!!

My Animal is more than 6 years old. No problems. It is used at least 3 times a week (we have two cats) and works as well as it did the day we purchased.

If someone broke into my house to steal my TV--they could have it.....if they went after the Dyson--I'd fight.

I had the Dyson Animal for 5 years. I vacumned with my Kenmore before using the Dyson and honestly not a lot more came up. We have two labs so it does get a work out. The attachments aren't the easiest to use and it is very heavy. We bought a cheap vacumn for the upstairs because there was no way I could carry it up and down.
