DVC studios - fewer amenities

That's what I thought (about the other timeshares). I know Starwood's lockoff portion is a 1 bedroom with a separate living room. I think if Disney wants to compete with other highend TS's (which generally have lower buy in and dues for 1 week in a 2 BR), they should maybe replace the paper plates and bowls with the real stuff - not go the other direction.

I wrote on Sunday and re-wrote a letter today since I've gotten nothing but the canned response.

I just filtered through as many pages as I could stand ;) and collected all the contact information so that it will be in one place. Hopefully that will make it easier for people to use. Hope it helps!

Ok, I just sent my email. I also stated that we usually make sugary libations in a blender and wondered how we would clean the blender? Or maybe we should just request a fresh blender daily?
.

There are no blenders in the studios. Do you bring your own?:confused3

I have noticed several posts both here and on another board where it seems folks are thinking that all of the rooms are having mugs/glasses/dishsoap removed. Right now this ONLY affects the studio rooms NOT the one/two bedrooms which have full kitchens.

One more reminder...please do not post the private individual corporate email addresses, only the generic public access addresses.

No there are no blenders stored in the studios, but it is (was) an item on the list posted that you can request. I have requested the blender several times and it is brought promptly. I hope this has not changed. Of course, with no dish soap, they may not bring it anymore.....those are fighting words....I need my blender.

Dear Mr. Lewis,
I am extremely disapointed in the "ammenities" in a DVC studio. My 1st stay is in a studio in April, and I am appalled that the glasses and mugs have been replaced.
Not only is this so bad for the environment, it is not even close to being of "equal" value as glassware...(plastic and styrofoam)

How can a DVC studio compare with any other timeshare in a studio. I can get glasses at POFQ.
Not even to mention that there are plastic plates and such.
How is a guest supposed to microwave anything, plastic, styrofoam etc, is not suited to withstand microwave heat.

With all due respect Mr.Lewis, you need to stay in DVC studio accomodations for a few nights with a few kids and see if the "ammenties" are adequate. Then go stay at a Marriot timeshare and see the deluxe version of "home away from home"

Please rethink this recent change and please start treating your members with the respect we deserve.

Thankyou
Kerri

this is what I sent......left off personal info at end;)

So I'm thinking my family of four staying in a studio for 5 nights (which is what I would be doing since I always splurge once per year and economize once per year) would use at least 80 plastic/styro cups! WOW:scared1:
If you thought the trash in the deluxe hallways was bad before, wait until you have the "cup bags".

So, what are they going to use in the studios in CA, as there is a big environmental movement to ban styrofoam in the state?

In CA you will use your hands to drink ;)

Add another item to the list of what I need to do when I get to the room.
# 53, are there enough trash can liners for all the styrofoam & glass i will now be throwing out? Oh wait a minute, that replaces # 10 which was wash the Mugs & Glasses. So the list isn't any longer. Oh but yes it is because there is now the daily call to mousekeeping for replacements for the thrown out plastic & styrofoam. And the additional call to mousekeeping when I find out there are no trash can liners.

Oh, they'll tell you to try The Emperor's New Cups. :coffee:

not to mention those tiny garbage cans they provide will never hold 80-100 cups in a given week's vacation.

Does anyone know which of these two addresses is correct for Jim Lewis?

I just sent my email off to member satisfaction (and cc'ed Iger and Lewis) expressing my displeasure at this latest change.

I am not one to write letters of complaint, but I felt I had to send this one.

While this change does not really effect us, we can buy a couple of mugs and glasses and throw them into our Owners Locker, if the total disregard to the membership that bothers me, no questions asked and no official notice. Talk about "subject to change without notice"!.

The explanation that has been given (to the All Ears folks) is weak and does not stand up to scrutiny. This is either a knee jerk reaction to the latest bad press about housekeeping or being cheap - or a mixture of the two.

It seems inconceivable that a company that can come up with rides like Soarin and Expedition Everest, cannot solve a simple housekeeping issue. It's not rocket science.

Anyway, I don't really expect more than a canned response from DVC and nothing from Lewis or Iger, I hope we can force a change back.

Great point! I have heard that Disney pays more attention to the hard copy letters than they do to email.

From MousePlanet here is the contact info:
FAX (407) 566-3393.

So, this should be where we mail in hard copies?

So, what are they going to use in the studios in CA, as there is a big environmental movement to ban styrofoam in the state?

Maybe they will switch to those cheap wax coated paper cups which melt when you put hot coffee in them?

Please tell me these disposable cups are wrapped, not taken loose from a stack and handled? Even when I worked at Wendy's as a teenager there were hygiene standards for the cups! They went straight from the plastic sleeve into a dispenser so you could grab the cup on the bottom outside.

And I'm sure somewhere buried here someone has suggested this, but if hygiene was a concern, why didn't they just offer disposables at check-in but keep the items in the studio?

Please tell me these disposable cups are wrapped, not taken loose from a stack and handled?

No they aren't wrapped. Chances are they will be handled by the same housekeeper who cleaned the toilet with rubber gloves on and then hand washed the glasses with those same rubber gloved hands. That is just magical. At least you could hand wash your own glasses before. Now with no dish washing liquid, you will have to revell in the filth the mousekeeper left behind in the paper cups.

While I do not think this is a terrible change by DVC and am not opposed to it, I do believe people should voice their opinions.

I would recommend people snail mail their letters in - traditional mail is viewed more seriously than e-mail in many companies.
To me e-mails are more green friendly. Whether a complaint comes via e-mail or snail mail it should be taken seriously either way.
