DVC studios - fewer amenities

I would feel less bad about this if we could get these supplies from mousekeeping. As it stands, I think MS's attitude is an afront to members.

Just spoke with a very nice CM, who repeatedly thanked me for calling.

Apparently they have been getting bombed with complaints....CM did not
agree with the policy and was so HAPPY that people are complaining.
She said....keep em coming they really do listen.

CM gave me another email address...although she did say the member link on the website will be forwarded to this address....so no need to do it again.
But I will for sure.

dvcmembersatisfactionteam@disneyvacationclub.com

Keep those phone calls and letters flowing....maybe they will see the light.

edit...cool...I just typed the address and it underlined itself....Of course I tried my own link and couldn't get through:(

Many years ago, I worked for a large (currently well-known;) ) hotel in DC. One of the things that mid-level and senior staff was asked to do was to periodically spend a night or a weekend in the hotel. The purpose of this was to evaluate the good, the bad, and the ugly of the guest experience. Jim Lewis and whatever brain trust came up with this sanitation, aka money saving, idea needs to spend a week in a studio, preferably with a couple of young children. Let's see how well he likes styrofoam, plastic, and paper. He needs to experience his fine wine or single malt scotch out a paper cup and try to cut food with a plastic knife. Let him wash the sippy cup or wipe off the table without dishwashing soap. Better yet, Mrs. Lewis needs to experience this. The problem with executives is that they get paid to come up with this stuff but they never have to experience it.

Good post!! Can you imagine how gross the highchair will be after a week with no soap and sponge to clean it? I'm in a studio next month for 7 nights and I guess I'm suppose to wipe down the counter with .... shampoo? barsoap? Leave it messy and sticky all week, attract a few bugs??? Getting less and less sanitary throughout the week--a 7 night stay only gets a T&T, no full cleaning. Do you think this is what they want us to do? Do they realize how many sytrofoam cups they will go through for one studio in one year. 365 days times 2 = 730 cups if we only use one cup a day for only 2 adults in a room vs 2 mugs that can be washed by members and staff for the entire year. It's scary to think how much more trash will need to be processed from this money saving, environmentally friendy idea? right?

I just sent an email to dvcmember statisfaction. Thanks for the link, it made it easy to send. There should be a poll started as to who sent in a letter...we could better get an idea of the numbers being sent to MS.

I finally sent my e-mail. Hopefully they will reconsider. At the very minimum they should at least supply them to those that request it.

Does anyone have a fax number? I just keep thinking that it would be hard to ignore the fax spitting out paper complaint all day. Somehow I think the big pile of papers would have more of an impact that e-mails.

Hi all - we're at the AKV at the moment, we had heard about the removal of cups and glasses the day before we checked in. We called housekeeping and said - "we seem to missing four cups and four glasses in our room, could you please bring us some?" - so we waited and waited and after two reminder calls they did bring them, no questions asked.
Officially though, after speaking to the housekeeping manager, she said they have been removed from studios and lots of people are complaining!
Next time we stay in a studio (in June), if they don't provide me with cups and glasses, I'm asking for 60 disposable cups instead (5 cups a day each times 6 days)!!! I wonder what they'll make of that!
If everyone did the same, I'm sure they'll review this absurd policy!!!
And I'm sorry, but I should not have to carry heavy glasses and cups around the world with me or pay owners locker to store them. This isn't a motel 6 we're staying in, it's a Deluxe Villa Accommodation!
I've written a nice long letter to Member Services to register my complaint.

Good note; thanks. Looks like the volume of complaints might be getting through to them.

Does this seem like too expensive an idea? How about if DVC offered BOTH styrofoam "mugs" and real ones (same with glasses, both real and plastic), and also returned dish soap to the studios. That way, people who are concerned about the germs from hand-washing (no dishwashers) would have the option, and people who prefer ceramic mugs have the option too. At least it would seem that it would be less expensive than putting little dishwashers in all the studios just to satisfy those people who don't think that hand-washing would get a mug clean enough. Just a thought-what does anyone think?

I just wanted to chime in to say that I sent my e-mail today. I'm staying in a studio at BCV 4/5-4/10 with my 2 kids. I'm really disappointed that I now need to include glasses and dishsoap in my suitcase in order to actually use my kitchenette. Its tacky and quite frankly, pretty pathetic. I thought the paper plates and plastic silverware were pretty unacceptable to begin with, but the kitchenette is now virtually worthless unless I pack up dishes and soap from home . . . maybe that's what they meant by "home away from home!!"

I'm crossing my fingers that someone comes to their senses in the next 23 days . . . but, I'm not counting on it.

Great point! I have heard that Disney pays more attention to the hard copy letters than they do to email.

While I do not think this is a terrible change by DVC and am not opposed to it, I do believe people should voice their opinions.

I would recommend people snail mail their letters in - traditional mail is viewed more seriously than e-mail in many companies.

I think you've got the most scathingly brilliant idea! :cool1: That's an excellent compromise.

I'm really only annoyed about the dish soap bc I find we use that alot.

If I request some from the maid will she give it to me? I hate to pack that stuff and have it leak.

I will be mailing and faxing a letter today in follow-up of my email last Sunday. I will also be cc'ing Jim Lewis and my guide.

A reminder that you may post the snail mail address of specific CMs, like Jiim Lewis, but please do not post a specific personal CM email address. Use the more generic emails like Member Services and Member Satisfaction.

Thanks.
