DVC Sales Presentation

do you have some Insider information to back that up?

It doesn't take insider information, just watching the promotions over the years. They roll out a promotion and it lasts for a period of time.

This 3 day thing is no doubt stated by guides but it is false. What would they do if you called back two months later and the promotion was still going on? Say "No, you missed the three day window on that." Wrong, they would offer the same deal if the promotion was still ongoing.

Don't be fooled by the one hard sell tactic DVC uses.

This is misinformation. There is no three day window. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

You just gave an example of the one hard sell tactic they use. The referral incentive is going on until the 20th of January or so. If you took the tour today you could get that deal right up until the ending date of the promotion.

Now I will say there is no 4 year window as in your case but the incentives don't change in three days.

Please don't spread this misinformation making someone feel pressured to buy. If you get the three day spiel ask for new guide. Buy when you are ready not based on some three day crap.

I'm not sure what you're basing your criticism on. DVC has been very consistent about extending the incentive offer for only 3 days after a guest has taken the tour. There have been many, many posts on this board about potential buyers being disappointed when they were refused the incentive when calling back after the 3 day period had expired.

Are you suggesting that these reports are not true and that DVC does not adhere to the 3 day limit to honor the offer? Here is a recent thread that discusses the issue.

(Boy, talk about misinformation ...)

Yes, that is exactly what I'm suggesting.

I don't care if 1000 people post about this, this is not how it works. The 3 days spit out by DVC guides is a sales tactic. I've bought many contracts and never within 3 days of touring. Not once has my guide rescinded the original offer.

Anyone being told "sorry 3 days is up", should look to another timeshare or at the very least a new guide. It doesn't work that way. DVC has set pricng during the promotions that does not change until the promotion runs out.

How about resales through DVC? Are you suggesting there is a 3 day window on that pricing as well? When someone contacts DVC about a resale they have 3 days or the price goes up????

As you are so quick to point out, don't believe everything you hear on these message boards or from a guide.

Once you are a member you don't need to take the tour to get the current incentive- so your experience is unrelated to the prospective buyers taking the tour for the first time. The pricing is not the issue - only the incentive offered to purchase at that time.

When DVC offers contracts at sold out resorts, there have been no incentives offered - so no limitations have been placed on those prices either.

Guides have been adamant about the 3 day limit and many have reported a lack of success when trying to change guides or talk with a supervisor. If they have changed that policy - great - but it has definitely been rigidly adhered to in the recent past - in spite of your personal experience. Glad to hear that your experience should be more valued than 1000 others.

I really think we are splitting hairs here. Not worth arguing over. ONE person in the thread you posted the link for reported them adhering to the three days. I will say it was Dean and he seems to be a reliable source.

My focus is PRICE and with that they do not budge. I simply do not want others to think DVC is like other timeshares where when you say no the price magically reduces.

I also feel that three days may have applied to very limited times when they would offer a reduced financing rate or some other "special offer". Those are few and far between. Now, I think guides have taken that three days and applied it to normal pricing circumstances and that is not correct and simply a hard sell tactic.

This is not personal on my end. You are a wealth of information to others and I respect your opinions. My goal in this thread is simply to let people know they should not be forced into making a decision with the 3 day limits.

Buy with a clear conscience not under duress imagined or otherwise.

I only posted a link to one thread, but with a little time can probably find about 20 others with the same concerns.

As I already stated in this thread, the 3 day limit has been applied to the incentive price offered - I never suggested it has ever been applied to the base pricing and the poster you originally criticized never suggested that either. The claim of "misinformation" is more my concern than with whether guides place a limit on an offer. No one is "forced" to make a decision regarding DVC, but this policy is the closest DVC has ever come to "high pressure" sales tactics and it has been reported and discussed numerous times in the past.

We bought in May 2001. We had a very low pressure tour and we were leaving on a flight that afternoon. As for the 3 day limit on special offer from the tour was in writing in 2001.
