DVC Sales Presentation

No pressure whatsoever considering the DVC agents around the parks and hotels don't approach you, you have to approach them that tell's it own story!! If anyone here has been to coastal Spain costa del sol or the Canary Islands will know what pressure selling can be like, you win on a scratchcard and your prize is a 9 hour consultation on a villa that probably isn't even built! End of the day Disney sells itself, there's the price, there's the product yes or no job done. All in all a pleasant expierience as time shares go, :thumbsup2

We took the tour in 2004 and it was low pressure. At the time we decided not to buy during the three-day window. Even the kiosks in the parks are low pressure, and I found the reps there to be genuine and friendly. I would definitely recommend the tour for anyone just thinking about it. We got a meal certificate as our tour incentive two years ago.

We actually did have a high pressure salesman the first time we toured the DVC in 2005. We were pushed into signing while on site, the push was that this offer wont remain if you leave here without signing. BTW he was a vetran DVC rep who is still on the DVC video.
We didn't know any better and signed while there.

-snip-.
That "the offer wont remain" is absolutely true. They offer the special price for 3 days after you leave only. We had a VERY low key presentation back in '93, and we didn't buy until '97. No, we didn't get the "special offer", but I never once felt pressured to buy or felt that the "special offer" was so special that I couldn't pass it up and wait until I was ready to buy.

Diane, please reread what I wrote. We now know about the three day window.
The pressure sell last year was based on the saleman telling us that we had to sign THAT DAY, no three day, that day.

This year we found out how bad he truely was when we met our new sales associate. He was great and easy to deal with. He insisted we take time to think about it and get back to us within three days.
He actually honored the contract well outside the three day window.

Hey everyone, I'm planning a tour in about a month when I'm down on vacation. What are some of the 3 day incentives they are offering (or have offered). The current promotion of $15 off per point on the DVC member referal is nice along with the extra 12 years at SSR... what else do they offer?

I had been to a Vistana presentation years ago and that so turned me off to timeshares that I wouldn't go near a DVC booth.

I knew next to nothing about DVC and in December of 2003 I thought it was still that one resort over there ... something about Key West.

We had taken a boat to Boardwalk, not realizing it was DVC but I saw the Welcome Home sign and figured "Oh, they must have timeshares here too". We were wandering around and walked past the DVC kiosk. It was unmanned at the momen, the rep had stepped away for a second, so I took the opportunity to start looking through the material. I was very surprised. I didn't know about the other DVC resorts. I didn't know about trading out or the fact that it wasn't a fixed week etc. etc.

Suddenly the rep walked up to the booth and asked if he could help us. I probably looked like a deer caught in the headlights. I screamed "NO" and took off (timesharaphobia strikes again). He said no problem if you want to keep looking, I'll just wait over here and he walked away. I got my courage up and went back and kept looking through. He was a clever gent and he inched his way back to the kiosk and asked us if we wanted to speak to someone about it. I was taken off guard and actually said yes.

Well at that point, the sales center was still at Boardwalk, next thing I know we're walking a few feet to the center and he's asking if a guide is available. We're told to have a seat and someone will be with us shortly. It was a nice place, nice furnishings. Danish, juice etc. available. I wanted to run.

A few minutes later our guide to be came out and introduced herself. She took us back and spent quite a bit of time with us explaining the program, answering questions. It was actually a pleasant experience and completely pressure free. We did get the offer only good for 3 days bit but we were not pressured to sign on the spot. I actually think that we would have had to argue with her if we had wanted to sign then and there. It was very much presented to us to take the materials, look them over, think about it and then come back and sign if we were interested.

She setup an appointment for us to return, but made it quite clear that we were free to cancel. She just requested that we call to let them know so that she wouldn't sit around waiting. She arranged for a van to pick us up and our resort for the appointment.

We left with a bag of literature and soon found that we were about to join a cult. We had several people stop us throughout WDW and ask us if we were looking at buying. They went on and on about how wonderful it was and we wouldn't regret it.

Two days later it was time for the appointment. A few hours ahead of time the van driver called to verify that we still wanted to be picked up. No pressure, we could have easily said now. But we were ready to sign. So we kept the appointment and haven't regretted it since.

Our first DVC presentation was very hard-sell. The guide basically said if we didn't buy right then we were making a huge mistake. I then mentioned about possibly buying from a reseller and he said that was a huge mistake also. That the points bought directly from DVC were always cheaper than buying from a reseller. He even went so far as admitting he was being hard sell because previous customers had told him that they wished he had put more pressure on them to buy on the spot rather than wait. We left with a very negative opinion of the guide and DVC. A year later we went back, with plans to buy in spite of the guide. We even made an appointment with the guide. When we got there he was no where to be found and there was no record of our appointment. We then met with Karen Guyder, who was fantastic. There was no pressure at all and we did buy on the spot. Unfortunately for Karen, our original guide got credit for the sale, even though he had nothing to do with the sale and even made us not want to buy from our first presentation. Since then our original guide has left DVC and Karen is now our guide. Our last trip down, she even called and left a message telling us if we needed anything from her, to give her a call.

Be Prepared!

They are going to start the Hard Sell! They have to sell out SSR before they can sell VAKL!

Not true. DVC has sold multiple resorts at one time in the past and will be doing so in the future. AKV will start sales in the Spring, SSR won't be sold out for a year or two.

I will also go out on a limb and say that I think (not fact) that in two to five years they will be selling another DVC resort. I also think (opinion) that AKV will probably take about 3 to 4 years to sell out. But since prices have not come out and resort details are sketchy at best, it could be longer to sell out.

I cannot remember exactly what our sales presentation was like because it was before Old Key West was called Old Key West. At the time we decided not to buy.

In subsequent trips we would occasionally visit the models. We pretty much brushed the salesmen off because we knew we weren't ready to buy. Once they got the "brush off", they pretty much left us alone. Some friendly comments about how much they enjoyed their own memberships, but that was it.

Then this summer, we were on a Disney cruise and there was an announcment for a DVC presentation. DW looked at me and said we should get one for our 25th aniversery. I decided that I was really enjoying our vacation since it was not waiting to be paid for on our charge cards, so I said yes (thus ensuring that future vacations won't be funded with 15% interest).

We went to a group presentation where they pretty much answered any questions we had, and made an appointment with the sales team.

I think our sales rep was shocked when we walked in and asked where do we sign before he even got to start a pitch.

We had a guide who was a very soft sell. Really just presented the information and answered our questions. This was at 8 am on Thanksgiving morning. We mulled it over at home, called with more questions. They were answered, as I have found out from all of your comments, very truthfully. He even checked some dates at HH & VB so we could see the availability at 7 months for us.

We had the softest sell approach of them all...WE called THEM and never even took the tour! :rotfl2: Having read up on DVC for about a year both here on the DIS and others sites, I was very comfortable and familiar with the program when I made my first call. I had a few questions, which she answered easily and with no pressure at all. Didn't make any decisions that day.

She called a few WEEKS later, just to see if I had any other questions. None at that time. Then I called a month or so later with even more questions. No pressure from her, at all. Finally, the first SSR friends & family promo came out, and I was allowed to combine that with a CM discount (brother works for ABC), so it was a done deal. In my case, waiting a bit turned out to be much better, as I ended up paying about $77 per point for SSR (in Summer of 06).

She laughed when I finally called to make the commitment. She said, "I knew that if I just left you alone to think and was available to answer your questions when they came up, you'd buy when you were ready..." She was right. We are thrilled. End of story.

I just took the tour last Friday and joined. It was very low pressure. I told her upfront that I knew alot about the program from the DIS board. She was very happy that I did my research from reliable sources. She signed many people that contribute to the DVC threads.

They had a van driver pick us up and it only took about an hour and a half for everything. At the end of the tour the guide gave me a bag of information and said "is it okay if I call you in a few days"....I said I wanted to sign up now and I think I shocked her a little :goodvibes S

o, I just received my fedex package yesterday which contains all the legal documents and it has to be returned within 7 days. I'm sending it today and the estimated close date is Jan 28 :cool1:

Hi, just so you know the $15. friends and family discount ends on Jan. 20th. Not sure when you were going to go.

Also we were told that the offer is good for three days from when we checked out. So if anyone is taking a tour, you will have whatever days you are at Disney to decide up to three days from when you check out.

We went on a tour the last day of our vacation and were given three 15.00 gift cards for lunch. I still have them and am now a DVC Member. It was lots of fun doing the tour and Thereas our guide was very sweet and there was no hard sell at all. I was pretty sure that I was going to buy but was not sure if I would do new or resale. Chose new points at SSR as they last longer and I like the looks of the resort. Have not booked our first trip yet, but got a September UY and only had to pay 1 months maintance for the 180 points I received. Can't wait for next summer and our first trip Home.

DH and I just returned from WDW this afternoon. We attended the presentation on Wednesday and didn't feel pressured at all. Actually, it was very informative. Now the only question is, is DVC right for us? They gave us fast passes that were good for 48 hours. I'm glad we went to the presentation. The rooms at Saratoga Springs are gorgeous! I guess we have some thinking to do :confused3

We joined on the 12/2 MAGIC cruise. When we got off we went to SSR to do the tour & sign paperwork. On the cruise we got 5 DVC Luggage tags, Blue DVC vinyl tote, 2 DVC hats & 2 DVC ID Holders, when we went to SSR we got a large DVC Member Canvas Tote, Two - $15 Disney Gift Cards & 4 fast passes. We declined the free ice cream. Very low pressure & the $15 dollar discount is a great deal! We bought 250 points :)

You two wouldn't get much then. AKL is the most impressive themed resort on property. Doesn't matter if I like it or not I can stil appreciate it. I'd say WL and VWL are right up there as well.

I don't lie the woodsy theme but I can still appreciate how well it is carried off.

This is misinformation. There is no three day window. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

You just gave an example of the one hard sell tactic they use. The referral incentive is going on until the 20th of January or so. If you took the tour today you could get that deal right up until the ending date of the promotion.

Now I will say there is no 4 year window as in your case but the incentives don't change in three days.

Please don't spread this misinformation making someone feel pressured to buy. If you get the three day spiel ask for new guide. Buy when you are ready not based on some three day crap.

Nothing. There are no deals with DVC. The offer is what it is. All members will receive the same offer as you. This isn't some timeshare where the price changes everytime you say no.

There is no three day window either. Promotions have set ending dates. If you press they will tell you the end date if they know it.

Go home and think it over. Call when and if you decide and insisit on the deal you were offered. If the offer has not expired they will honor it.

Guides are loving reading all of these wrong posts with this 3 day window.
