We are in the process of buying in DVC, BWV. I am reading in the threads that DVC rooms are so much better than moderate. Other than the kitchen {studio's don't have much kitchen}, to me in the pictures they don't look much different. What does the DVC rooms have, other than kitchen, that makes them "better"? :confused3

The DVC studio room sizes are more equivalant to the deluxe resorts. Most of the moderate resorts have smaller rooms (approx. 314 sq. ft). SSR, BCV, VWL, and VBR studios are close to 360 sq. ft. and BWV and OKW are close to 400 sq. ft, and HHI is 455 sq. ft.

Starting with the one-bedroom units, the main bathroom comes with a Jacuzzi and large shower. Also starting with one-bedroom units, you get a washer and dryer in your room (studios have a w/d available, but you have to walk to it). If you're taking a longer trip, you can reduce the amount of clothing you have to bring with you.

The jacuzzi tub is wonderful to relax in after a long day at the parks. That counts more than the kitchen in my opinion. DVC 1 br is more like staying in a condo than a hotel room. And the washer and dryer is very convenient. I no longer go home and spend a whole day doing laundry! :flower:

I'm sure there are other things, but as a former Moderate resort person, the first thing I noticed was a BALCONY! Now I love that! Imagine drinking your morning coffee (that you or DH made in your villa) on the balcony, still in your jammies. My favorite part of DVC.

I agree! First place we go when we get on property is Basin so I can get bath bombs for the tub!

And we only bring 3 changes of clothes. At the end of the day, we all throw our clothes in the washing machine. I throw them in the dryer the next morning. We repeat this each day, and it works great! (More room to bring home Basin stuff rather than bringing tons of clothes!) I do make sure that all of our clothes for the trip are non-faders so that anything can be washed together! No reds or darks!

Moderates only have double beds. The DVC studios have at least one queen sized bed and one double sleeper (OKW has two queens).

The one bedrooms have a king bed and a queen sleeper.

And then, there's the washer and dryer. Free to use for the studio and in your villa for the larger units.

Thanks! Only being two of us - I just assumed we should book a studio. Now I see the benefits of a one bedroom. I do like a queen bed over the doubles at moderate.

I knew I could get answers here!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes you get the answers here. Hope it's Welcome Home to you. :Pinkbounc

Moderates are not equivalent to DVC Resorts, as stated by others.

DVC vs deluxe -

Laid back and peaceful
(Depending which one) Close or far from parks
Noticably larger rooms
Large bathtubs/jacuzzis in baths
Washer/Dryer in rooms
family meal ready Verandas

It's just two of us too and we intend to spend most of our visits in a studio (minimize points used so that we can stay longer, or have more trips).

When I was first considering purchasing in, I took into account that we normally have other people go with us. Staying on property in 1 room with 3-4 adults can get costly when you add in the extra charge of $20-30 per night for the 3rd and/or 4th adult.

Ooo... and don't forget the balconies!

LOL, I have had a Jacuzzi in our bathroom for more than 25 years, and I use it all the time! If you get used to it, you will wonder why you haven't used it more! I think it is a great place to relax away the tired muscles.

We used the Jacuzzi in our 2 bedroom for the first time ever last week. It was a very hot all week and it refreshed us.

DH doesn't think that it's worth getting a 1 bedroom, so we'll probably be enjoying that luxury only when we're with guests and we opt for a 2 bedroom. I don't mind getting a 2 bedroom instead of 2 studios, but I balk at the difference between a single studio and a 1 bedroom. Just my quirk!

We love having a balcony/patio, and use it every day.

My Dh refuses to get anything less than a 1 bedroom even when its just the 2 of us,
We love having all the space and hes anight owl and Im an early bird, so thsi works out nice for us.
