DVC Response About Ebay Commercial Sellers

I have been against Commercial Renting and the use of DVC as a business for a long time and yes I let DVC know my feelings on this. I bought into DVC for personal enjoyment not to compete with a business for prime weeks booked and sold for their personal gain.

However I am curious to why one person is the target of this dragnet when others are doing the same thing and some are very active members of this community that seemingly are being left out of this discussion.

I am sure there are many more Commercial Renters out there doing the same thing and I am upset with all of them. I just have no idea who they are (except for a few ebay names) and I think I am better off not knowing.

Sometimes ignorance can be bliss.

I wish I could go on thinking there are only a few.

Sometimes I wish I did not read this thread

I've been following this thread and learning a lot. :earseek: But I can't figure out what the O.C. Comptroller's website is. Who can fill me in?

It's just because that person (under one of their aliases) decided to respond to this thread and defend commercial renting. If we knew who the others were we might have talked about them as well. I know I would. We did also briefly discuss David Mullet and his lovely website. I think the main issue with Mush was her deception and dual identities, just from my perspective.

I just searched EBay, and found very few DVC points listed for rent, perhaps 3 or 4. There were a heck of a lot more just this past weekend. I wonder why they are all gone?

Mushpurple/alwechsler's actions here on the DIS are unacceptable but I am saddened to read that she is being harassed. I think we just have to be content with the fact that she has been "outed".
So much for the idea that DVC or DIS members are a cut above.

Bottomline, it does look like Mushpurple may have slit her own throat by replying to this thread. But honestly, she isn't the real problem. A simple visit to the O.C. Comptroller's website will tell you who the real "business" culprit is...the plot thickens!!!
OK, I'm almost speechless (a rare event, believe me :teeth: ). I just went and looked, and you weren't kidding. Unbelievable. :faint:

I think we would all be surprised at how many people use multiple user names and sometimes even post against each other (themselves!) giving pro and con opinions just to stir things up.

Okay, so I want to make sure I understand this correctly. I went to the OC Comptroller's website and I keyed in a last name, and a ton of pages popped up showing this person has many, many, many DVC ownerships. Wow!!! I just can't believe it. I too am speechless!

Yep...I too am stunned!!! Especially by the "children family trust" part. And, if you try a mis-spelled variation of the last name....behold...there is even more!!!

I thought the people I knew were "big-time renters"...man, they are chump change compared to this!!!

Brings a whole new meaning to Add-On-Ittus!

So is anyone mad enough to start a letter writting campagn or make phone calls with all these details? I would think there are a few million bucks tied up in this commercial bussiness. Maybe we should alert that MAD guy...

Kind wish I had all these points (without the Maint. Fees :)).

True, but that knife can cut both ways. Those that would call and harass someone at home or by email and the Commercial Renter that books up weeks of prime time and sells them. The ones I find the most distasteful are those that rent and yet come to Net forums and try to put the blame on SSR members for taking away prime weeks at BCV and BW.

Although it is shocking...it's called taking advantage of an opportunity. How can we totally blame these individuals if it has gone on for years and Disney has done nothing about it? It is really fair to allow them to buy contract after contract and then suddenly say: "Sorry, I know we've got all your money -- but you can't do that anymore." I'm certainly not saying it was right for them to reply to each others points-for-rent threads, etc. and possibly deceive people or drive the cost up, but it's called Capitalism and it's the American way. I guess my point is: Don't hate the player -- hate the game.

There are many owners with 1000+ points that bought them for investment purposes, retirement years, etc. and I would find it hard to believe they themselves are using all those points in the meantime. I even rent my own points out when I know we won't be using them. That's why DVC appealed to us in the first place.

DVC is going to have to find a system that allows people to use their points at their discretion without taking anything away from other members. Perhaps peak times can only be reserved in the member's name and they must be present at check-in, maybe points always retain their original use year/home resort no matter what the circumstances are. I really don't know what the answer is, but agree something must be done as more and more members join on a daily basis.

As for mushpurple, I imagine she's out shopping for the biggest bottle of extra-strength Tylenol she can find right now. :sad2:

Yeah, but I read my documents throughly before I purchased and it clearly states that you cannot rent your points for commercial profit. How can you possible have this many points spread across this many family members and not be in the biz of renting points? This is way beyond a 1000 points. I'd say this is probably closer to 8000 - 10,000 points, maybe more. No telling what other names have been used.

I personally will not take any action but I can see where people like MAD comes here very upset that they can't get the reservation they need at 6 months out probably because Arlene Wechsler has twenty reservations for rent during Food and Wine.

Stunned is a good word to use. I too was amazed by the "children family fund". They have more DVC membership than I have cousins!

She did change the feedback to private.

I was watching 8 of her auctions. She changed the title of some like hare or on board and sold them (Probably to herself) for $1 or $2. The rest she ended early.

When I looked the "hare" and "on-Board" auctions showed they were ended early because the item was lost or stolen. I think everyone who has ressies at OKW need to call and check...it seems your resort has been "lost" or "stolen". :lmao:

However, it does make one wonder....did she pull the auctions of her own free will....or did DVC "take action" against her? (I'm telling you...they watch EVERY post here!! ;) )

I also find it interesting that the website referenced earlier in this thread speaks of having 4 homes for rent....but, only lists 3...it's like one has been removed. Does anyone know if number 4 was DVC?

Man...I really need to get my mind on something else!!!

I just did an ebay search and I can only find one DVC vacation auction. Just wondering if I'm just not typing in the right sort of search expression or if all but one of the DVC vacation auctions are gone from ebay? By the way, the only one I did find is the one that rinkwide likes to quote from...

ETA: I've done a bit more searching on ebay and there are still a few DVC vacation auctions out there. But I don't see as many as I did last time I checked which was some time last week.
