To elaborate on Deb's answer...it is way too easy to "fake" feedback, both good and bad, in a forum-type setting. And basically, it would come down to a "he said, she said" type situation.
The Rent/Trade Board moderators strongly suggest people wanting to rent points from a DVCer to take the time to research the person as much as possible by checking previous posting histories and communicate with them personally to get a "feel" for their overall personality/posting style. Make sure you are comfortable with an owner before entering into a monetary exchange. If you are leery or are a first time renter, it may be worth it for the peace of mind to use one of the rental broker services, such as our board sponsor, David's.
In general, there have been very, very few problems with a rental found on our DISBoards, but there have been occasional bad apples. As in most situations in life, your best protection is your own "gut feeling" about someone. If you aren't comfortable, wait for another owner or renter depending upon which side of the transaction you are on.
