Hi my family and i are considering buying a disney timeshare. We were wondering if we buy one at say Vero Beach is it easy to get places in Disney such as boardwalk or wilderness lodge?

Your "home" resort allows you to make reservations 11 months in advance, where you can only make reservations up to 7 months in advance for the others.

If you plan on buying used and plan on going at peak season all the time, I would buy at the resort you really want to stay at.

In my case, I chose to buy new with the incentives they had at the end of last year, and added on with the incentives this year, all for Saratoga Springs. (Bought 200 points, then added on 120).

Personally, I prefer Beach Club and Boardwalk because of their close proximity to Epcot, but I would have had to buy used and it would expire in 2042 verses the expiration of Saratoga Springs of 2054. Since I was spending close to the same amount, I prefer to get the extra 12 years use out of it. If I was "stuck" at Saratoga Springs because of availablity, I would still be happy.

Also, my vacation time is very flexible, so if a particular resort isn't available on certain dates, I have no problem moving my vacation dates around.

Keep in mind that was you save on an initial perchase (resale) at VB, you probably make up for in annual dues. They are the highest because of that darn (handy) hurricane insurance.

I would definitely recommend buying where you want to stay at the most. As time goes on, owners at the most desireable resorts will learn that they have to book early in order to get what they want, and since they can, they will, locking all other members out.

I would not buy at Vero unless you intend to stay there. As Stacy said, the dues are by far the highest of the DVC resorts and there's always the threat of serious hurricane damage. Plus if you need to sell, it's very difficult.

If you have more questions about DVC, try posting on the DVC Board. You can also call DVC and order a video and info kit. The only thing is that DVC is only actively marketing Saratoga Springs, so don't expect them to talk about the resale market.

There are multiple threads on the DVC board with just your question. Check it out.
