DVC Member Cards--Why did they send me another set with different dates?

Not sure if this is the correct forum...if not, apologies.

We recently purchased our second DVC contract and received our DVC Member cards in the mail today. We also received another set of cards for our previous contract. Has this happened to anyone else? Why would they send us cards for our other contract when we already got those when we purchased the first contract? The difference on the cards appears to be the "Member Since" section, which used to be the original contract year (2002) and now has our resale contract year (2006).

You should have a membership card for each discrete contract. Each card should have the use year and buy in date of the contract the card is associated. I also was sent two cards. A second one from the original contract and one for the new contract.

So does this mean when I buy my third contract (yes, addonitis has hit hard ) that MS will send me three sets of cards, one for each contract, even though I already have the cards for contract 1 and contract 2? Also, one set of cards was sent to my husband (contract 2) and one set of cards was sent to me (contract 1)? Not that I mind having the cards, but it seems redundant.

We have 9 separate contracts, all same use year and member ID. They've only sent us one card when we first purchase. We've never received any others.

Oooh. I wonder if this is new policy now that they are tracking pre-March 31st resales and possible perks!!!

That seems normal to me. Our two contracts are different UYs, but I can't figure out why my VGC purchase would trigger a reissue of our BCV cards :confused3. I hope it isn't a resale/direct distinction even though both are pre- 3/20/11 purchases.

Our first purchase was 2006 and this recent one was submitted to ROFR pre-3/20/11 (passed on 3/23, I believe). Hmmm...

The cards look identical to my first set of cards. We use them for discounts, that's it, right?

This must be the new DVD which will overwhelm you with member cards; years ago anyone trying to get member cards (like if yours cracked and you needed new ones) would nearly have to go to DVD's office and beg on their knees to finally get them to send member cards after making a request (I once waited 9 months for new cards after making an inital request, which was followed up by numerous requests before they finally came) Possession of a valid card is all that counts regardless of any date on it.

The same thing happened to us. :thumbsup2

We owned at BWV and purchased another resale at SSR before the 3/20 deadline and received membership cards for both resorts.

The BWV membership cards are identical to the ones in our wallets. :confused3

Those aren't different contracts if they have the same member ID. They are add ons. The first five numbers before the decimal point is the same, but the ones after the decimal point are different, maybe consecutive. Like .001, .002, .003, etc.

Thanks! You're right. I was starting to wonder if we should have received multiple cards! Truthfully, glad we didn't. Seems kinda silly to send out cards each time a different contract is bought.

That reminds me, our card is getting awfully beat up. Wonder if I can ask for a new one?

We have multiple master contracts - different Use Years, both purchased direct and resales, and it is normal to receive original cards for each contract. The Use Year will be unique and the Member Number will also be unique on each contract. We have cards for each of them. Not sure why they would have sent out duplicates of the OP's original Member card though. I would just be happy to have a brand new one, lol!

Add on's do not mean you have a new master contract. They are added on to the original contract, hence new Member cards not needed.

You can ask for a replacement Member card. No problem..

We also have 3 seperate contracts 2 resale 1 direct. since they're all the same UY we only have 1 set of cards because they're all the same membership number . it's only when you have different UY's that you have a different membership number and require different cards.

Or if the contract is titled differently, for example one has husband and wife, another has just wife, still another has just husband. That's three separate memberships.

We have added on three times - for a total of four home resorts - and we only have one member ID, and have made sure that all of our contracts are the same use year - for sanity sake!

Our first purchase was resale and our membership cards had a member since date of the original buyer of the contract from Disney. Later when we bought direct, (same member number) Disney sent us new ID cards with a different member since date. 20 contracts later, resale and direct,(same member number) and no other cards have been sent.

I rise for a point of clarification -

You have 20 contracts?!?!?

As in 1 more than 19 - and 1 less than 21?

20 CONTRACTS?

How do you manage all of that?!?!?

Either they are all really small, or you are reaching the ceiling for the maximum number of points that DVC allows you to own!!!!!!! HAHA

REALLY - 20 contracts?

WOW - we get confused with only 4! HAHA :lmao:

Actually we have 26 but 6 are a different UY and member number so I didn't include them because we never received a changed membership card for that account.

The contracts cover 5 home resorts and the 11 AKV and BLT contracts are 50 pointers.

Thanks, I thought I was missing something. We have 1 master contract with 5 add-ons, (3 homes) all the same use year and same member ID. We also only have ONE set of DVC member cards. We bought ALL of our contracts through Disney.

Does that not get confusing when you call Member Services?
Wow that is a lot of small contracts!

The smallest contract we own is 85 points, and that's at Saratoga Springs - and that's all we own there.
