DVC Lost Luster, Badly Broken

I find it funny that folks are blasting the OP for not taking pictures of the damage. Personally, I've always thought it a bit weird when folks spend vacation time seeking out and taking pictures of room problems.
…

I've gotta agree with this...we don't even own a digital camera:eek: We are still 35mm freaks:) I've had rooms that were in less than stellar condition and and it never even entered my mind that I should take a picture of it.
Point being, that's not really a deal breaker for me when attempting to ascertain the OP's credibility.

Film camera user here, and I did take a picture of the thermostat placement in our AKV value studio. I wanted to point out to MS just how inconvenient the placement was, and I thought that perhaps not all were alike. Don't know if anything was done about it, DVC did call and mention they would send engineers to look at it.

I find a few things a little "hinky" with the OP post;
1. no exact dates of visit.
2. no room number.
3. Hasn't posted again to defend or offer more information.

I was there last week for business and actually thought the BWV looked to be in great shape. As a BWV owner of almost ten years, I have seen minor things that need attention but it is the kind of things that can happen anywhere. Rooms get constant use and abuse by guests.

Sounds like the OP is just out to cause problems.

Just wanted to mention that they did do a second post....I'm thinking they decided not to do any more after all the defenses for BWV kicked in. Just an FYI about the post.

I too wouldn't allow one poster or one bad experience to change my plans and don't think it's the norm or people would be selling their DVC like crazy!

Of course - I'm a newbie to the Dis boards too so I sympathize a bit more about the lack of posts issue. Heck - I feel I'm sticking my neck out just doing this one as it seems to be such a hot issue! Please don't hurt me!!! :flower3:

It's all in the eyes of the beholder and trigger words. I have never seen any conditions that would merit the word "dump" to describe any of our DVC accomodations. So, I leave it up to the OP and DVC to deal with the issue.

Honestly, I've had little issues, nothing major and I know for a fact from these boards that we can't expect perfection. Were it my room, villa etc. I not only would have complained but I would have demanded to be moved, we're not booking into Motel 6 here. By the same token, one experience would not turn me against a resort that I loved or favored. I have found that longtime DVC'rs are honest and forth right about their experiences and if this were the norm, more people would have responded w/ similar experiences.

What boggles me is, what is the point if indeed this is a hoax, of posting false info. Is it to piss people off, is it to tear down Disney/DVC?

....

In regards to #3, I surely wouldn't come back after the welcome the OP was given. Even if someone posts about a bad stay, there will always be plenty of posts about great stays. I say let others post about their awful trips without getting all defensive about it. They may have actually had a horrible trip and just need the opportunity to vent.

Let's be a bit more generous because we all can afford to be.

I really can't believe how some one who posts a negative on these boards is treated! Why is it so hard to believe that someone can get a messed up DVC room?? On our last trip at BWV, we had a room that had a lot of things wrong with it. Some things were taken care of, while others couldn't possibly be fixed while we were there. Our last stay a few weeks ago in OKW, the bathroom was in MAJOR need of a rehab. The room was as clean as mousekeeping could get it but the whole room was due for a rehab and we noted our complaint, but didn't make a big deal because we were only there for a few nights. DH noticed all over OKW things not being maintained on the grounds. Peeling paint, blown out light bulbs, etc... While we visited BCV we saw workers on the grounds upkeeping the property by painting, etc. News flash everyone, there are going to be people who get rooms at DVC that are not in perfect shape. Just because you didn't have that experience doesn't mean you won't and doesn't mean the poster or "complainer" is a liar or a troll. Last year DH and I stayed at the CR for 2 nights and were given a room that had been renovated but was a mess. I was so disgusted because it was an MK Tower room that I spent a small fortune on and the room had just been rehabbed that I took pictures and showed it to the front desk. I didn't want to get blamed for the broken table, ripped daybed and cereal on the floor! Do a search cause I posted these pictures here too. The front desk noted it and did nothing and we didn't go any further because we were only there for 2 nights. I did get a survey when we got home and I did complain about the room in it. Just because it's Disney doesn't mean it's always rainbows and sunshine!

BTW, the OP clearly stated what the outcome was:

"After our complaint the resort did wok on some of the problems with the room, we worked on the rest. We straightened the sagging curtain supports, we wiped down the kitchen stains and we wiped down the arms of the chair. With three days to check out we decided it was just best to get on with our trip rather then engage more useless time with supervision who stated quit clear....its a money issue with DVC."

Wow guys, I didn't realize we needed torches and pitchforks to join this forum. We were a little harsh on Debbie just because she posted something we disagree with.

Why do some posters take it as a personal insult when something negative is written about DVC?Actually, I have seen this on the resort board too!
Believe me, I dont like hearing about this either-we have all invested a good sum of money, pay dues and expect our rooms to be perfect when we arrive.Who wants to deal with less than perfect at our "Disney home"(as my nephew calls it)
However, if something is lacking, we need to write and complain to member services-not attack each other when someone posts a negative experience! If more people write, maybe these kinds of problems will no longer exist.

The last three times we stayed at OKW money kept disappearing.

The wife said if I stayed away from Olivia it wouldn't..

Why didn't I think of that?:goodvibes

We did have one sub standard room once, but they were able to move us.

Everytime there was something wrong they were there to fix it after we reported it.

We'll it has been something reading all the post's, sorry we ruffed some of your feathers.... and upset some of your lives..... move on! As for compensation we didn't want any just a clean room the way it was supposed to be and then warned on the Disboards of what we found....! But from the sound of some this would have been your lucky big day to make $ and take a picture for all to see. Just a note to some of you, we're life time supporters of this web site and enjoy freedom of speech, but your defilement with speech is sad to see and your the one that has the integrity issue.... and may leave the rooms worse.... then you find them...rather then better as we just did. This will be our last post so you can move on......Thanks to all who contributed beneficially.

Gotta love that 1st amendment, huh? :lmao: LOL. I'm glad you didn't let the bad room ruin your trip (or the negative comments ruin the disboards for you). Hopefully another member or guest will never get a room as bad as you got, at any resort.

Well Said Indeed.

Tamp down the fires, remove the posters from the stakes, and walk away people.

Y'know, I think it's just the OP's style of writing rather than what actually happened that's causing all the ruckus...

This is not meant as an insult, btw.

Yes, this it strikes me as well.

It's one thing to say whoa...what happened with my room this time? And another to say DVC is "badly broken" because they got a bum room.

It's the overstatement that's the issue here. I don't really doubt they got a bad room, but I am surprised at management's reaction. THAT'S the kind of news I would take up through the chain.

Totally agree...it's the WAY it was posted. Experience with one room and comments from a CM who does not actually work for DVC does not equal "badly broken". In fact, that comment should definitely be brought up with DVC management - NO ONE should be making that sort of comment to a guest, true or not.

The cleanliness of the room is the responsibility of Mousekeeping. AFAIK there is no difference between Mousekeeping of Inn and DVC rooms - it is apparent that they did not do their job, and that is NOT the fault of DVC.

If overall maintenance of the room was an issue, the room should have been taken out of inventory until repairs could be made.

But I'm thinking more and more that it wasn't DVC not paying for maintenance, but someone (not the OP, but the CM) who wanted to deflect the blame.
